Yo!! Okay... so not necessarily related to the truth style, but on the color palate truth at 3:48 of the video you are shown wearing a brown sport coat OVER a denim jacket? Is that right??? Reason I am asking is that I am attempting more and more combos with my levis denim jacket and wanted to know if you could throw some more unconventional ones like this at me! I dig the look and what other possibilities that might exist.
@@jhcowatchinglifestyle That's right! I'm glad you like it. Yeah I love layering "unconventional" clothes like denim jackets + sport coats. I'll try to do a roundup vid of all these layering ideas
Effortless Gent please do!! I am a denim jacket nutball and anything you do in combo with this article of clothing and other unconventional layering would be most welcome! I tend to do some fun stuff with texture and tone layering, but don’t post as much as I used to.
Style truth #3 is true wisdom and can be applied to other aspects besides style. Love the neutrals paired together. Point 5 is very refreshing to hear from a stylish gent like yourself and I couldn't agree more. Thx for the great insight!
Finally!!! You’re back! I love these broken rules man, ESPECIALLY #3 which is the mindset of most introverts: that everyone is looking at you. Loved this video man.
Hey buddy thanks for watching! Yeah with every email / comment I get, it usually boils down to being self-conscious and assuming everyone is judging, notices, and / or cares what he's wearing. When literally no one cares or notices. ;) All the more reason to try new things and wear what you like!
I like your no5 point. I am not a brand loyal kind of guy. Not a fan of luxury brands. I'm more loyal to color, fitting and style. My wife complains that i am a fussy at buying clothes. I dont buy just because they are at discounts. All my garments are well worn because I really enjoy wearing them.
Great tips. I needed to hear #3. I prefer slim fit and my body type works well with that style. However, I'm pushing 60 and have to choose carefully so I don't come off as desperately clinging to the young generation. ;-) I've been having lots of fun with split complimentaries (not sure that's even a word) and the right contrast for my skin/hair tones with always a men's neutral anchor. Some mornings it's like "whatever" and any color pop (usually a bottom layer tee) always looks great. Thanks for number 5, too. As I get a better idea of my style I'm definitely becoming more quality conscious as I just want my clothes to hold up for the long run and wear well.
Thanks for watching! I think what you said about “clinging to the young generation” is interesting. I hear that a lot. I wanna do a video about that common worry among older guys
Truth, truth, and more truth! That last one scared the shit out of me at first, but you're spot on. I'm glad I started cheap, because if I didn't, I would have wasted a whole lot of money lol dude, the lighting and compositing of your shot was so crispy 😩👌 *BOOM*
Bout time bro, great video! #3 was a good reminder. Being sort of an introvert motivates me to look best in my clothes and boost confidence. #5 true as well. I have some “less-expensive/quality” items last me years because of the way I take care of them.
For #1, whilst I do think "slim" clothes usually work, I think it's also important to remember than classic boxy fits can work just as well if you know what you're doing. I found slimmer clothes also limit movement, and I hesitate wearing them sometimes because of it! The rest are all great advice as well!
I'm a big fan of point 3! Also one misrepresented rule: dressing better means dressing up; that sprezzatura and rakish outfits are supreme. Its akay to be the bro that likes high low or heritage work wear. Also have fun with accessories! My interesting accessory of choice: belts, watch bands and shoes ( yes I consider shoes an accessory).
I think I've seen these various bits of wisdom from you before, but this is the first time I've seen you put it all together in one video. Nice job! I've been learning Truth #5 slowly but surely.
I agree that quality sometimes has to take a backseat when starting out. I still remember buying a navy blue and a charcoal gray suit for interviews. They looked nice, but I knew they lacked the quality to last. However, I bought what I could afford, got a job, and then replaced them with higher quality suits later.
Exactly! I think guys sometimes get caught up in the idea that they need the best quality right away. But when you still don’t have the fundamentals of fit down, or you don’t have your wardrobe basics and essentials... quality is the last thing you should worry about
#5 is so true, I ended up purchasing expensive "quality" items when I started on my style journey, only to learn that this was not the fit or look that I was searching for. In fact, the favorite items in my closet are those that I spent $30-$50 on. I still make mistakes when I purchase clothing even though I have a clearer sense of what I want, but because I focus on value items, I can write them off as part of the learning process.
I've done the same thing! Only when I'm absolutely sure about something is when I bother to upgrade to a better quality version (for me, that's usually leather jackets and shoes)
Man Your Channel is so underrated... tout content is dope, the editing is awesome and you are so so cool and relax. Really I don’t understand how this algorithm works.. but I know you’re the best men’s style channel out there, that is for sure man. Keep it up

Tip number 3 is so true! No one is really worrying about your fit, so try something new!
The man himself! Amen brother, that’s my personal favorite, makes sense in most cases, style aside 😉

Amen re: point 3! Applies to much more than style. And great! I’m glad to hear. Thanks for watching

Style truth #3. So true, but so easy to forget. Nice one!
I have to remind myself all the time :)

@@EffortlessGentTV Great idea! Slim fit vs. skinny jeans--know the difference. :-)

Yes!! “Dressing better means dressing up” would’ve been a good one, damn. Glad you pointed it out though

Great pointers, man I’m an older guy and I’ve been in love with the 541 Levi’s since they came out, relaxed fit with a tapered leg just perfect 👌
arent they the best! I've lost 25ish lbs since Jan, and they're still my favorite model. I just have to size down now to get the best fit :)
👍
