FYI: I asked for permission to do this DIY. I see so many comments from landlords upset regarding rental apartments DIY's. If you are renting please remember that you need permission to make any changes and that if you don't please make sure they are not permanent and that you will return the place the same it was giving to you. The day I move I will be placing back items I removed. Thank you.
I think landlords should appreciate when renters take pride in their living space and do things to make it look nice. As long as it's nothing TOO out there they shouldn't have to remove their hard work, because the new tenants just may love it. I redid our house, from peel and stick flooring all the way to painting and replacing electrical outlets and their covers. When we move this house will look a million times better then it did when we moved it, someone is going to love it and I hope they appreciate the hard work I put into this place.
You are so right! A girl that lived in my rental apartment before me redid the kitchen and the bathroom cabinets with contact papers and I absolutely love it. Its why I chose this apartment in the first place.
I love that idea but I don't trust landlords. A landlord would charge the next tenant more for a "customized apartment" or "luxury upgrades" they didn't do themselves. The landlord might like it now while you're there but once you're gone, you could end up with a lawsuit. Not saying every landlord would do that. I'd rather save myself, and potentially someone else, that mess by taking it down once it's time to go.
I agree with you! It’s an upgrade to the rental space. We have made sure that we can paint and redo cabinets in the bathroom! My new space has three bathrooms and the first guest bath has an out dated medicine cabinet. It is being Replaced thankfully by the owner of our rental. We had our painter completely paint everything except the bathrooms. This we saved up for. My choice of paint for living room and dining room and long hall was honey tan by Sherwinn Williams. Both bedrooms are light gray. I am looking forward to adding back splash in the kitchen. What do you think of the peel and stick tiles. I absolutely love love your Upgrade! I decided to subscribe! All the best to you.
I am 78 years old and I have used contact paper for a lot of "stuff". Never once did I think of placeing a piece of paper over the groves then placing the contact paper over both. Absolutely wonderful idea. The kitchen turned our very, very nice. Thanks for giving an old lady a very useful new idea.
I came here to comment on what an impressive trick that is. So simple and effective! I have been wanting to cover my cabinets but felt too intimidated by the grooves. Going to try this!
@@cocopuff6810 if you don't like the impression tiles would show and want it to be smooth you could lay down a piece of thin cardboard or poster paper first.

The only problem, wear & tear. My daughter n law did that for their counters and it didn't hold up at all. They are rough on things anyway but still, if you can maintain that look, that's great, I think it looks beautiful. Sometimes, if you ask, landlords will allow upgrades, like painting, some will even allow you to deduct the cost from the rent. Just thought you might benefit to know that, being a previous renter, and previous landlord. Good luck on future endeavors, btw, you must have patients of a saint, I have the worse time trying to apply contact paper on anything, you made it look so easy, and great idea using the the dollar tree poster paper on the cabinet doors, your a smart cookie.
For $30, I would just redo it if there is wear and tear as oppose to doing permanent upgrades on a rental. The wear and tear does come into play on how the person takes care of things or if the household is large.
Girl, you did that! If it looks that good in person I think I will try in my kitchen as a trial before I actually paint my cabinets. That way I can live with the faux color to see if that is really what I want. Before painting it permanently
That's what I was thinking! Money is tight and I need a serious kitchen make over. This will help me decide if the color scheme is what I really want. Plus, who wants to go through all that work of painting, not to mention the time involved. I can't wait to start this project. I already went to Walmart to get the paper lol. Good luck with your project as well! 👍😊

If these are laminate top its also very easy to secure the contact paper unfer the lip of the counter with a couple of staples, they are easily removed from the partical board underside and dont cause any damage , and a hair dryer also makes the contact paper seamlessly adhere to the rounded edges

Thanks for posting this video, it has inspired me! 🥰🥰
This is why i'm glad i live in Germany. I bought a high quality Kitchen one time which i take with me when i move and can customize as much as i want. But the Paper over the Kitchen-doors are genius. I'm not a fan of the overly white, but njeverthless for me it looks much better and modern now compared to the beginning. I'm not a fan of light Wood xx. Dark wood, hell yes. But light wood always reminds me of cheap pressed wood.
This looks soooo good with the B&W after you got done!!! It truly looks like a totally different kitchen and so fresh and clean looking!! I still can't believe it was under $30!! You did a great job, and thank you for sharing!! :)
This is fantastic! I did see another renter-friendly diy but they used some sort of board from Home Depot to cover the cabinets. It was really easy but I would rather go to one store. I had the Idea for the poster board because I was going to use it on my tiled back splash because nothing will stick to it for long, but I wasn't sure if it would work on cabinets! I'm so happy it does.
Wow great job! As someone stated , landlord’s should appreciate tents like you. I do my own painting the landlord do supply within policy but as much as I take care I still get a lots of issues with other staff and tents hating. I work hard and pay my bills ..I think it’s because I go over and above to hve a nice neighborhood.
OMG you have saved me with this. I just moved into a apt. I absolutely HATE the cabinets so much I would cry. I thought to search ytube and I found you. All the men's videos were no help. Your the bomb. THNAK YOU. Great job on your kitchen.
This looks great! I’m wondering How long will the contact paper last when cooking and also how easy it is to clean the countertops from germs? Has it lasted?
Always use coasters and cutting boards, and always wile the counters with a rag if there's water or food on the counters. You can't just intentionally abuse your counters and not give a damn bad expect your counters to be perfect new and shiny.
Love the countertop trick! My husband and I are buying a house and it badly needs counter upgrades, but it'll be awhile before we have time/money to bring in actual marble countertops, and I was looking for a short-term fix. This might be it!
I’m so glad that I saw your video because I dislike yellow wood in the kitchen. Now I know what to do if I run into the kitchen with that color wood. You did such a great job. Thank you for sharing.🙏👍😊
PERFECT! Looks great! I would love to do this in our kitchen too! And TYSM for the poster board trick! I was hoping you would show that! 🤗💕 I have tile counters, backsplash AND cabinets that needed this trick!! You're a godsend!! Keep up the great work!!
Super late response, but we did this to our kitchen counters, and to seal around the sink, we used caulk. It’s easy enough to remove once you need to remove the contact paper, but it seals from water getting under there.
Oh my goodness, what?! Lol when I saw the before photo of the kitchen I just had to laugh out loud at how shockingly plain and drab it was. Then you came along and affordably transformed it into a Show Kitchen in the most CLEVER way!! Absolutely beautiful and adorable kitchen now. Love your design choices. Thank you so much for this!! ♥️👍
So I’ve used this contact paper on my closet doors years ago and it comes off flawlessly. Only thing with the white is it’s kinda see thru so if there’s pattern behind it will show.
I'm a homeowner and I last had my kitchen done around 12yrs ago but I do want to spruce it up a little for as little as possible so Thanks for the ideas and BTW your kitchen looks absolutely beautiful 💖
Omg!!!!!!!! I’m sooo doing this, I have the same cabinets with the design so it makes it hard to work with. And I can’t print them. So yup!! I’ll be doing this! Can’t wait!! Thank you!
It seems like this contact paper and removable wallpaper thing is just getting started it's getting pretty popular among renters like myself.. The only thing I can't figure out is why it took so long for it to catch on I was doing contact paper for my countertops and backsplash nearly 30 years ago it worked in and it sure in the heck works now even better.
thank you for your creativity! I liked the before and after pictures, and loved the finished look. Good job! I'll be looking at your other videos now..🥰🥰🥰
Some type of clear sealant or polyurethane I believe it's called that you can put on top of it to make it last longer and prevent rips cracking tearing etc
Landlords should appreciate this.. it actually benefits them because the removable contact paper is acting as a protector/shield the actual cabinets/counter that is underneath.. Therefor, by you having that shield over everything, it’s protecting it from damage & wear & tear

I’ve been wanting to do this to my rented kitchen but I’ve been afraid to & thought it would be to difficult but after watching your video I am going to give it a go now! Thanks for posting this video, it has inspired me! 🥰🥰
Thanks so much! 😊
OMGosh you are such a miracle worker. These curtains were getting on my nerves. Couldn't find a way to wallpaper them. Thank you thank you.
I admire your commitment! That was a lot of work but it had to be so satisfying when you were done.
I just found your channel. Thank you because I was struggling how to do my cabinets. Now I know how to do them.
Wow I can’t believe how different it looks, great job❤️
Thank you😘
This looks soooo good with the B&W after you got done!!!
What a beautiful transformation in such a small amount of time with a low budget. Great renter friendly option.
You can't be serious. For 20 bucks!? Girl...I think it's time to upgrade my kitchen 😂
girl! it looks AMAZING! You just save like $300 a month for some “updated” painted cabinets 😂
So glad I could help. Thank you!❤️
Your solution for the doors is genius!!! Thank you so much. This helps a lot with an upcoming project.
Wow great job! As someone stated , landlord’s should appreciate tents like you. I do my own painting the landlord do supply within policy but as much as I take care I still get a lots of issues with other staff and tents hating. I work hard and pay my bills ..I think it’s because I go over and above to hve a nice neighborhood.
using the marble counter top adhesive, did you still set hot pots/pans on it? does it hold up well?
My question to.
No it does not, I know from experience.
You can’t set hot pots/pans on laminate countertops anyway so no.
LexiePlusFive Thank, you.
Nooo
Adding the paper to the cabinets was genius! Thank you!!!
OMG you have saved me with this. I just moved into a apt. I absolutely HATE the cabinets so much I would cry. I thought to search ytube and I found you. All the men's videos were no help. Your the bomb. THNAK YOU. Great job on your kitchen.
Thank you!❤️
This looks great!
I am blown away by how good this looks! Such clever ideas! Great job!
Thank you so glad I could help❤️
Is it hard to remove when you move out? Also, when you wipe down your counters, does it come off or start to peel?
No not at all I actually show you and answer a couple of questions on my last vlog.
I would be most concerned about the area around the sink with water continuously splashing here and there, wouldn't it begin to peel there?
Super late response, but we did this to our kitchen counters, and to seal around the sink, we used caulk. It’s easy enough to remove once you need to remove the contact paper, but it seals from water getting under there.
If i was your landlord I’ll appreciate you leaving it up. Beautiful ❤️
The profile pic doesnt match this comment 😭😭
@@Crimson296 🤷🏽♂️😂
This are my kind of titles 😭 budget friendly
Thank you!❤️
So smart with those kitchen cabinet doors!! Great idea!!!!!
This is definitely the most cost effective & beautiful updated easy kitchen makeover! Kudos to you excellent job! Love the new look.
My fave is the backsplash paper design! Times less ~. Great job 👏
Love this!!! Do you know if it will leave any residue behind when taking the paper off? I want to do this to my cabinets too
So I’ve used this contact paper on my closet doors years ago and it comes off flawlessly. Only thing with the white is it’s kinda see thru so if there’s pattern behind it will show.
I did this on my kitchen counters at my apartment. There was a tiny bit of residue, but it came off with dish soap and water. :)
I'm a homeowner and I last had my kitchen done around 12yrs ago but I do want to spruce it up a little for as little as possible so Thanks for the ideas and BTW your kitchen looks absolutely beautiful 💖
I can’t believe I didn’t think of using the poster board for groves… now I want to redo mines. Amazing idea
"X-ACTO KNIFE"
Omg!!!!!!!! I’m sooo doing this, I have the same cabinets with the design so it makes it hard to work with. And I can’t print them. So yup!! I’ll be doing this! Can’t wait!! Thank you!
Amazing! Well done! And Thank you for actually showing us the whole process rather than starting it and then only showing the end result!
JESUS CHRIST LOVES YOU AND CARES FOR YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE
Amen
Amen. God bless you 🙂
🙌🏾 yes!
❤️✝️❤️
Amen hallelujah!!!❤
Came out great. I laughed every time you said " Cut off the 'Access' " instead of "Excess".
Love this… thank you. Love how you added the cardboard paper on top to make the cabinets different because that’s what I was worried about for myself
Good job! I'll be looking at your other videos now..🥰🥰🥰
i am gagged at the paper on the cabinets omfg you just saved me so much time. i hope you’re good and sleep well tonight x
I wish you could come over and help me. You're so confident. That looks so good! I'm in a rental that has a very sad kitchen. I need to do this!
Ok wow. Covering the door with poster board was q great idea.
Looks 1000% better.
You had so much patience……..and it looks awesome.
🤗🤗🤗
Thank you!❤️
Some type of clear sealant or polyurethane I believe it's called that you can put on top of it to make it last longer and prevent rips cracking tearing etc
Landlords should appreciate this.. it actually benefits them because the removable contact paper is acting as a protector/shield the actual cabinets/counter that is underneath.. Therefor, by you having that shield over everything, it’s protecting it from damage & wear & tear
This is genius!!😃 it’s so beautiful! You really did a fantastic job 👍🏼👍🏼🤗 I love how you improvised on the cabinets by adding the flat paper 😃 🏆🥇
I love that you figured out a way to cover the cabinets!!! Great job ❤
Genius idea for the kitchen cabinet doors!!!! Thank you :)
You go girl! You made everything look effortless and it turned out great!
Thank you!❤️
Omg! I love what you did with the counter top. I didn't know they sold that. Thsnk you. I love it!
