    lmao I was thinking the same thing. Langston did pretty well but the energy, intensity, cleanliness, and entertainment factor is why NCAT takes this one.

    i agree with you whole heartly deangelo. the 5 man snare line was just as good as the bigger one an really to be honest was just as loud an known as the bigger one. in my observation the smaller group won in my opinion.

    alright we all get it okay hahaha theres one white guy on snare...SO WHAT???... ik he's better than most people....he's talented and he can keep up...he already proved that since he made the drumline

    If Langston is the smaller group, they got that shit tight and the metals rocked it. Good moves on NC A&T, but they need to tighten it up.

    Looking at this again years later, I have to give the win to Langston considering they were smaller but had a much cleaner sound. A&T had nice choreography and visuals but
    too many drums can be a fault to the section as well, moreover it's just a more intimidating look. Langston cymbals took the who show, they snapped. It didn't help hearing those other drums in the background. That first cadence Langston played was hard-core.

    The mugs that Langston's drumline has is hilarious!! Langson was good; although I have never seen a tonal player with their drum right on their face. A&T was cleaner and I would give them the win

    All jokes aside, I'd really like to see A&T's snares take the cleanliness up a few notches. Not as a put down....but because I REALLY like them and want them to be undeniably one of the biggest heavy hitters out there in HBCU lines....SWAC included. That being said, if there are any A&T percussionist reading, I REALLY encourage you to keep up the great work and just be super picky with your ears on the snare line. I'd really like to see you all just crush in the next few years.

  • @WCUmetalhead
    @WCUmetalhead 10 років тому +1

    I'd give it to Langston just on cleanliness alone (though both lines could stand to tighten up a bit)

    You're right. Cold Steel was definitely more confident, which contributed to their victory. But they've found a way to balance entertainment and skill. This balance is why they're so popular and it's why I believe Cold Steel is the best drumline..... But that's just my personal opinion.

      They were both super dirty. Snare eighth notes at a slow tempo sounded like flam taps. I am also assuming they are not collegiate, because if they are... ouch. MSU's drumline is phenomenal. And if they are High School, still damn, but I would say the technicality lacking and dirtyness makes sense.

    we can talk about a and t technique all day....but u got to admit.....they have strong confidence in their style....and u cant talk em out of it. they could be alot cleaner but they are enjoying themselves. but the langston people just look like a high school...snares tuning bothered me but if they were bigger it wouldnt change much....they have a few decents things going but overall they can step it up a notch....but love the fact a lady is on snare....that is awesome in my book

  • @oldschooldrumcorps

    I love my HBCU's ( Cheyney U Alum) but tell me....why the hell would you show up to a drumline battle or any performance with cracked cymbals, basses with holes in the heads, and all the basses not tuned?

    • @albanybestdrumline
      @albanybestdrumline 9 років тому +5

      cymbals are extremly expensive running at about 600 a pair bass heads burst during parades ( battle took place after a parade) same with tuning they start out tuned and also it could be thats how they want them tuned
