I'm that one that hears every little thing. My ears totally enjoyed all the different paths you took me down. The bass drums were used perfectly. Someone really had and ear for music while writing this piece. Very enjoyable!!!! ❤
Do they have 2 drum captains? Cold Steel is P4P the best drumline in HBCU history. They're clean, funky and still gives you that entertainment value. Even though I went to WSSU (Stone Funk), I can admit this.
Hell yeah , I'm 60 years old and I ain't never heard or seen anything thst even compares to those guys , I was first chair drummer for my school , but way back then we never dreamed I having such magnificent sound and visuals from a drum line

This is one big reason why I can get around a 8 piece Pearl kit fast and why I play with my Tom's almost flat on the Pearl icon Dr 500 4 sided straight racks because I played quad's in high school Pearl the best reason why I play drums 💪 🥁
For anyone wondering, the reason why their cadences sounded "boring" is because they played their tunnel cadences, which are meant to be played when the band is entering the stands at the football game. So, yeah.. it's kinda boring when there's no band to look at lol.
I see some detractors in the comments and since I went to I'll say A&T's biggest drumline rival (Norfolk State) I know this was a lightweight early season performance. They have a lot better material in the book for sure. Don't be fooled by what you saw here. They can bring it.
Thank you! This was an easy-breezy crowd pleaser. They weren't trying to blow people away, because there were two and half days more of music to go see! You cant start your meal with a ribeye steak as an appetizer!

fantastic job, great to see such hard work coming out , dont like the flavour of the day snare sound for this kind of vibing. Try and develop a cranked mylar 15 and sound different and boom u have it

I was physically right next to the quints, and outdoors inna crowd, high sounds will travel better Not to mention its a phone microphone! I didn't have a field recorder yet!
Best I can tell. They have on snare straps. Allowing them to rotate the snares for their choreography. I believe they are under their yellow shirts. (They likely have a tank top under that)
Just putting it out there. I am white... I took the video. He got some camera time, but the main reason I kept passing him was there was a woman in front of me, BEWTWEEN me and him. I had to move my camera OVER her head and around her every time I went from the snares-cymbals-tenors-basses to the quints.

Red Sea of Sound is (in my opinion) the cleanest HBCU band in NC. They are always rhythmically tight and ALWAYS balanced!
