My high school band had a close relationship with Hampton University, as our director of bands, Dr. Barney Smart, went on to be the director of bands at Hampton. Watching this video, it makes me realize where we got 90% of our sticking artistry from.
I get chills watching this. This was my freshman year and I was on Bottom bass. Never read music before this long summer and definitely never had an experience with a marching band like this up north in Philly. Definitely good times with everyone in this video. 2008-2009 season > #PUDOW STICKY SITUATION
I would have to agree and say this is the best I have ever seen Hampton's Drumline! I shot one of these back in 1998 and this drumline blows that 98 line away! The snares killed it at 5:51 then again at 6:39 by the playing the CHAIRS!!!
Im a drum corps person myself and i usually dont like a lot of southern marching bands or anything. But i have to give them their props. This is pretty clean and really creative. Awesome job!
@1snare Black or White bruh you got some mad skills on our tool of the trade "The Mighty Snare"! From one percussionist to another you killed it and thats recognizing your talent and musicianship. Keep up the great work.
No... She's not in this video but she is in some 2005 videos that are on here. But my point is what does HBCU have to do with Drum and Bugle corps international?
OMG, HU always put on a performance. I am so proud of city's university and some high school bands ( Hampton High & Phoebus). Boy, I miss going to HU games.
I will say I really enjoyed myself at Hampton...the campus is classy and it lives up to its reputation. Being in the band was just the icing on the cake. ;) Anyway...yeah Sticky crushed dem boys that night!
You fall asleep and suffer the consequences...everybody talked about this block against MD....they also talked about Ebony Fire VS hot ice and how 9 tubas got with 26 of NSU tubas...Hampton is holding it down for their size...if they can get their numbers back the way they were a few years back...its on baby! This is the best block i've seen from sticky..totally different drumline now..proud of yall!
The sticking at 5:50 is off the chain! Its hard to tell if dude is white or mixed but dude is no joke!!! I shot this show back in 1999!! I was on the snare line at Delstate back in the early 90's too!
U r rite im thw white boi in the video and u r also correct in that i dont know the schedule. But its all good cuz we gunna be ready for sept 5 or w.e. Do u even march in their band?
there has got to be a video witha real soundtrak on it.you guys are v.f.** loved it. I'm sure I'll watch it over and over. I could remember the cadeces,,but I don't think I'd be able to DANCE that slick,w/a drum strapped to me. some creative new cross over-under-ta-thisothersides Division 1
And I will say that my sister used to go hampton for about two years and when she moved back to North Carolina she audition for a Drum and Bugle Corps and made it in... As I recall I think it was The Cadets (which I know isn't in NC) but that's who she auditioned for and she made it in so hush your mouth
@fenix181 From what I understand, their percussion instructor is from NSU now, so that was one of the reasons in getting rid of the tenor drums. Also, having a tenor line takes away from the overall level of mastery in the section, since the drum doesn't require much skill to play.
I know this is an old comment but, why are you talking about Drum and Bugle corps international when this is a HBCU Marching band that has their own style of marching and have nothing to do with DCI?
first of all i like the show two they had a lot of dancing to keep the time moving you know to fill in the rest spots. you don't want have to stop a song and start tapping again and plus this was put on in october no one sounds great in the beginning of the year just think how many cadences they have to learn when they get there that's why people dont worry about the technique. just think we were mask everyday when you see this type of music you think of africa the cowbells idc if it was dirty
I'm sure Boone had alot to do with the change of this line cause out of all the years I've been watching them they never looked so good going up against MD... GREAT JOB S.T.I.C.K.Y Situation... I see you Alex gettin' low lolz...
This was pretty good. I prefer the 07 block better but this isnt too far behind. Good Job pirates and i dont say that very often coming from a spartan.
I posted this video in 2008. Im The White boi everyone seems to like in here haha. But I'm still getting comments on theis vid. Thanks guys for all your support
DCI HAS ALL OF THE BEST TALENT..THEY SHOULD BE GOOD!!! These type of drumlines have to teach whomever they gave,,sorry,,but we aren't fortunate enough to hand pick
Yea. If you guys are gonna do visuals, then all of you need to be doing them. Like when the snares are rockin their heads, only three or four are actually doing it.
I'm going with HiU on this one. I was watching from the floor. NSU was good but, STICKY put on a show. In the end NSU was just missing something, don't know what, but something just wasn't there.
Ok onestly we didnt jock them because i have seen so many drumlines do that move its crazi. And ive seen drum corps do it too. So i mean we may do the same thing but i aint jockin

I don't know how I got here... But I am not disappointed that I did.
Hampton has always been my favorite school. The drumline needs to be like this again when I come there lol!
Out of all the drum-line I have watched on you-tube this would be the best one!
Ok that was.... ABSOLUTELY amazing! Defenitely one of the top best I have ever seen. Keep up the great work!

I think this was the best drumline show than ever see ;)

That was pretty insane! This video is definetly going on my favorites list. Greatness, just greatness. :)
No... She's not in this video but she is in some 2005 videos that are on here. But my point is what does HBCU have to do with Drum and Bugle corps international?
that was pretty good why you guys got so many bass drums and so little snare drums?
Yess Ralph! Glad to go to the alma mater of one of my heroes!
They whole swagger is cold as ice and I love it
OMG, HU always put on a performance. I am so proud of city's university and some high school bands ( Hampton High & Phoebus). Boy, I miss going to HU games.

@1snare my bad man!! LOL! Nice job with the sticking!
This is incredible!

normally i am really hate 'southern' lines, but this one sounds legit, good job.
I'm sure Boone had alot to do with the change of this line cause out of all the years I've been watching them they never looked so good going up against MD... GREAT JOB S.T.I.C.K.Y Situation... I see you Alex gettin' low lolz...
I'm loving those Dynastys
That was amazing. A real performance.
TTD?
chore style mixed with showstyle love it!!!!!!!!
I wish my drumline was this spontaneous
nice job hampton. that was really entertaining
is there any way i can get these songs to put them in my phone or whatever? this is fucking hot
@TheJahhGUY Actually, the white guy with the long blonde hair was the only one who was putting any emotion behind most of the visuals.
Is this an all black school?
This was pretty good. I prefer the 07 block better but this isnt too far behind. Good Job pirates and i dont say that very often coming from a spartan.
Amazing video.
S.T.I.C.K.Y. killed it. Only people who seem to hate it are those who were formerly from NSU, so what does that tell ya?
wahtched the video 100 times just saw that now
the 1st tonal bass drummer was playing a tenor part.
The first 0:49 seconds is phenomenal.
^^^^Man...you need your own comedy special or something! LOL!
This is awesome!
Something bout a drumline...this hot!
Im a white drummer from Hpt...yo that white boy was killin it...word up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^.^ you speak words of truth my friend. Good video.

Great Performance!
See my school is reversed, I'm the only BLACK guy on my drumline. They all call me Nick Cannon -_-
MylesClayborne Drum Covers then you got skill Brother!!! Lol. Nick made an awesome performance in the movie. Lol. Best of luck drumstick!!
what's that you say? None of them ever made it into DCI? What a surprize...
lol little do you know fool
What are you talking about? lol
i love it!
I feel you. Just keeping the HU/NSU rivalry alive (even in cyberspace). By the way...'proofs-reading' c'mon Spartan you can do better than that!!
they killed this
Yea. If you guys are gonna do visuals, then all of you need to be doing them. Like when the snares are rockin their heads, only three or four are actually doing it.
yo much respect
oh well I'm sorry.. I thought you were saying that they were bad and they would never make it into DCI
I'm going with HiU on this one. I was watching from the floor. NSU was good but, STICKY put on a show. In the end NSU was just missing something, don't know what, but something just wasn't there.
Who gettin sat down?
