- This video will describe how to use a Chromebox For Meetings device as a normal Chromebox in consumer mode, or enroll the device in another admin console without a Chromebox For Meetings license.
If you bought a cheap Chromebox For Meetings device off of eBay, and you can't use it without enrolling it, this is for you.
Commands:
List RW_VPD partition:
vpd -i RW_VPD -l
Set oem_device_requisition to none:
vpd -i RW_VPD -s "oem_device_requisition"="none"
I've been ripping my hair out all day trying to remove enterprise... Turns out it was switched to meeting mode... Thats the firmware google provided as recovery!!! Dude you are the man!
LIFE SAVER!!
If you are coming here to do the opposite as well (i.e. you purchased a Chromebox outside of a Meet Hardware kit and it is not setup in Meet mode), you're in luck. Follow all the steps in the video, until the point where the `vpd -i RW_VPD -s` command is entered. Instead of entering the "none" value, you will want to enter the "remora" value. AKA, run this command:
`vpd -i RW_VPD -s "oem_device_requisition"="remora"`
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Please advise! For some reason on vpd -i RW_VPD -s "oem_device_requisition"="remora" step I have tons of messages about "...cannot read inside management engine region...". I've tried to remove FW write protection screw - same errors and device won't run on Meet mode after this commands and runs in standard mode anyway.
I have to enroll 13 HP Chromebase All in One 22 to GMeet hardware mode. I attempted in 5 of them but only succeeded in 3. the rest no mater what remora or anything I put in it just will stay as chromebase single user mode.
RW_VPD -l reads
gbind
ubind
should_send_rlz_ping=1
rlz_embargo_end_date=2022...
oem_device_requisition=remora
first_active_omaha_ping_sent=1
block_devmode=0
check_enrollment=0
HELP!
You are a hero...i wasted so much time trying other ways. Thank you
Japadapadu you make my day you make me happy, it work. Many Thanks
So when at the recovery USB stick or SD card screen, Ctr - D is not working any suggestions?
super helpful! Thank you save the day
Great video, Clutch Slayer !!! I'm currently on Chrome OS ver. 108. At the end, it still takes me back to the Enrollment screen....What version were you on, when you shot this video? Thx !!!
Same same :(
I did the same and ended up at the enrollment screen too😢
Thank you very much!
will this work for the asus chromebox cn62!? i had to bypass managed by a school by upgrading the ssd, memory rams and the wifi 6e card and download the chrome os recovery tool to usb to get it to the add a network screen!! i really need this for my personal use😢😢😢😢😢😢
When trying to do this after the vpd RW - i don’t see oem requisition remora on this new chromebox. CXi4 (asus)
What info do you see when you do the vpd read?
It seems to be blocking me at the (vpd -i RW_VPD -s "oem_device_requisition" = "none") command. Just replies with the: You can specify multiple -s and -d, However, vpd always app;lies -s first, then -d. Either I typed it in wrong or there's an update to Chrome OS....Asus CN65 i7. The mere fact I could access the VPD made me giddy.
It works now. Apparently I did write down wrong, should be: vpd -i RW_VPD -s "oem_device_requisition"="none" That is no spaces between the '=' sign.
I signed up with ChromeOS under my personal account, which cannot be done under Enterprise Enrollment. This video was very helpful!!
Glad to hear it worked for you, sorry for not seeing the comment earlier, sometimes UA-cam doesn't like to notify me. Happy ChromeOS'ing!
Mine is Chromebox CN62 i can't get pass Developer mode once it restart it goes back to setup
So my chromebox i need the opposite - i need to enable Meeting Mode not remove - ctrl - alt - h doesnt work for me
Most of the same steps can be used, put it in developer mode, use the vpd utility to change the "oem_device_requisition"="remora", or if you have a different model you'll need to look up the code name for the meet device.
Check out the comment further down by @chadklinefelter7081, he describes the opposite process
