- L.A. fashion goes far beyond athleisure. "It just feels kinda effortless," says model Matisse Andrews, dressed in a vintage blazer and thrifted corset while standing on the streets of Los Angeles. Skateboarder Nico Hiraga also shares the pieces that make up his L.A. street look, which include custom jewelry and earrings from Singapore.

ABOUT VOGUE
Vogue is the authority on fashion news, culture trends, beauty coverage, videos, celebrity style, and fashion week updates.
as someone born and raised in LA, not many dress like this, it’s more casual and street or yoga wear. even in some of the most boujee neighborhoods, people don’t dress like this lol
and what about it?
Yeah I kinda wish we were this experimental :,(
i do find people here are really casual (and very yoga!) a lot but the amazing thing about LA that i havent found anywhere else is that as a fairly abstract and loud dresser myself its the place where people will give me respect for looking different instead of trying to punish me for it. i dress for myself not for other people so its nice to be given space to just do my thing and its a reason why i love this city so much. thanks to all of you for that
The only place they'll find people dressed like this is maybe in Silverlake
This seems really curated and not like they're stopping random L.A. people on the street.
two of them are by the chinatown train station… THEY are not taking the train LOL.. for sure they knew they were goin to be on vogue and the backgrounds were premeditated.
Yea - these are not random people on the street in L.A. Not in the midst of crowds or traffic but def put together before hand. The NYC street fashion scene was the same, premeditated but it came off much better.
@@crckbaby5 lol @ "premeditated".
you mean vogue has an agenda? no!
Yes, I thought the same within the first minute :')
This was dope but I think people would rather see actual people out and about in the streets that would be more authentic and Less curated
So these guys are robots and not people got ya
Exactly, I can't travel there, I want to see the world
Yea most people are super casual and basic. Which is very LA compared to NY. But I feel the Los Feliz district people did feel very dressed you and unique. So I would’ve gone to the Los Feliz, Beverly Hills and Boyle Heights where each neighborhood feels distinctly different and you get the spectrum of cultures.
Ok, but it's not what "people" are wearing... it's stylists, models and actors. Umm, ok.
Exactly!!
Have you not been to LA? 😅
@@thedylangirl Have you not been to LA? There are mostly normal people (not models and actors) just like any city 🤔
Probably because these people stood out the most in a crowd of t-shirts and shorts
There is nothing here I would wear besides the jewelry. They should mix different ages: 40s,50s,60s, etc. To get a true picture of fashion.
I live in LA and this is so contrived. Just go to Los Globos on any weekend evenings to see what people really wear in LA lol
exactly!! I love going to los globos for outfit Inspo even though the security can be so mean sometimes hahah
I'm tired of people always making videos and movies of what LA 'is", but it is not. Yes these people are absolutely gorgeous and their style is amazing, but that is not " normal " people in LA. LA is not Palm trees, Hollywood sign, walk of fame, and Melrose. LA is hard working people, tons of homeless, beautiful people and everyday life. When I drive in LA there are moments where I'm like, how would it feel to live up in those hills, next moment I think " wow there are tons of homeless, then I think parking f****** sucks , traffic sucks, and buildings are awesome.
Exactly!! Im an LA native and im trying to tell people the same thing lol
What do you recommend to see in LA?
@@zuza6111 Daemon would definitely have better ideas for you since he lives there. Definitely depends on what type of vacation you want. There is the normal walk of fame, lots of museums, Melrose which is literally a block or 2, beautiful parks with lakes, tons of different cultures and food. There is a lot to do, but just got to narrow down what type of vacation you want.
Just know that to go 5 miles it can take 45 mins 🤣🤣 . LA traffic is no joke. Lots of patience and breathing exercises.
I live in LA... there are some stylish people for sure, but I feel majority of people, wear Alo Yoga and trainers or flip flop, everyday all day.. NY has the most interesting people when it comes to fashion (my personal opinion).
Anyway, everyone can wear whatever they want!
the last sentence is why i love LA so much. im a loud dresser and everyone here just lets me get on with it and it's really nice x
you should do this in Tokyo!! Everyone walks like they are on a runway istg
While this was clearly curated and not everyone walks around LA like this, yall gotta understand that a video like this wouldn't be very long or interesting if they just interviewed random people wearing the same combination of shirt and sweats lol. Also, some of what the people said is definitely true. LA is big on doing bright, big nails, and things like cutoff crops and vintage jerseys are definitely big here too.
Exactly. This is content for entertainment purposes so they will obviously select LA natives who are more fashion-driven than maybe the average person. What I love and appreciate about this video is that the looks and pieces discussed are realistic as opposed to large than life clothing and accessories that say, a celebrity would wear on the red carpet. This is my favorite series that Vogue has created and I hope they continuing doing more of these videos in many cities!
great series. i think y'all should pay attention to the comments. the ppl are interested in seeing everyday culture and fashion reflected VS a curated list of people. i think a mix is fine but it would be nice to showcase everyday LA fashion that's true to the city
“Everything here is really effortlessly and chic. No one thinks *too* much about what they’re wearing.”
After how many interviews with people who clearly think a lot about what they’re wearing.
Nico-skateboarder??? Dude’s a LEGEND, and actor!
love this new type of vid keep them coming
I love these outfits these folks are wearing!!! Clothing designers have even been inspired by what they see on the streets of LA, NYC😊😊😊
thanks for the feature at 3:19 Vogue! -Moo
NOT EVERYONE "HAS THEIR NAILS DONE" LIKE THAT, AND NOBODY REALLY SAYS "ON FLEEK" ANYMORE .
it’s giving 2014
lol legit and then the next person have barely anything on their nails lmao
I could agree to many of these comments stating how many ppl in LA don't actually dress like this day to day. But I guess it depends on the district and places you're at. I could assure that many do dress like this around Chinatown, jewelry district, arts district and Little Tokyo. I see very unique ppl wearing unique pieces on a day to day basis.
“No one thinks too much about they’re wearing “ - to me that looks they put a lot of thought into those outfits.
When I think about LA fashion I think of sweats, activewear, and tennis shoes. I love seeing that there is more personal style than I thought.
Tokyo would be amazing on these series!
Those Timberland Collab BOOTS WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s NOT real life. I live here and it’s 90F outside. These people are models, actors, whatever. It is all staged.
100%
Fr everything they’re wearing looks like it’d make them HOT af
Yeah, everything on social media is staged, every reality tv show is staged. You think Vogue is going to interview a karen in chanklas, yoga pants and a tank be in the video? haha It is possible to dress nice in warm weather, just because most people don't know how to does not mean its impossible.
Step up your game VOGUE! Give us something we don't see everyday!
Love this! Please keep it up and make it a series
In LA you need to talk to people waiting for a spot in a Trader Joe's parking lot to see what people are wearing.
@unknownvlogs really started all of this
I love this series 😍
I used to be my own person when it came to fashion- and then I moved to Vermont, where I was targeted in a hate crime just for being me. So, maybe in Los Angeles, Boston, Paris etc
Please stop calling it street style when it’s what a small percentage of privileged actors, influencers and models wear.
Fantastic to see Style and Fashion on many different body shapes….. Beautiful
haha everyone is a model or stylist bro haha I live in L.A. and this isn't what people are wearing.
also, if ur saying L.A. streets why are no house less people, that have to live on the street(because of rent), interviewed in the video showing what they are wearing. no joke I'm friends with some of them and some people got some very lovely outfits and they get creative with what is donated and accessible to them!!
fashion has no limits
huge difference between these videos and the one on french vogue lol
I agree French Vogue's street-style video feels much more authentic. I don't know why US Vogue's are so curated and staged :(
I loved to shop in LA. Was more laid back then NY. Don't know if it's still the same or same stores are still there!❤️
I like the NYC one cuz it featured real people's style
People in LA are wearing whatever they want
More of these please!!!!
Not even in the same league as the styles filmed by Vogue France in Paris. Interesting to see how different fashion is across the pond though
Okay where are the regular degular folks??? 💀💀
NICO HIRAGA YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING WOW
Come to Chicago and do this!!
i love this styles
Wow that’s cool I’ve always wanted to be on vogue 😢
We need @TristanPaine to do this.
at 2:39 - Girl that is NOT a corset lol, It's a strapless bustier!
Yessssss been wanting an LA one 😎😎😎
its amazing
Most Americans wear yoga pants or something elasticated everywhere. Extremely casual & comfortable.
I LOVE IT
Having lived in Silver Lake and Los Feliz, this video looks like every city in 2022. Denver, Portland, Atlanta, none of this is "LA" these looks are everywhere...and tired! lol
yes. clothes have a soul. agreed.
Long live thrift stores and vintage❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love these series, even when unspontaneous
No everyone is wearing sweatpants n crop tops
That girls statement “no one thinks too much about what their wearing” is quit the ironic contradiction for such carefully curated ensambles😬
So basically New York 10 years ago? Got it
but i think bcs vogue is about fashion so if im the producer ofc i will find people that wearing a more bold fashion in LA rather than the regular one, bcs that will not show much abt fashion in this video, or maybe they could change the title instead
5:32 That HAIRLINE THOUGH! 😏
So mean lmao
I'll visit LA one day
6:00 I liked her outfit
You didn't understand the assignment. WAPW videos are about the vibe- this is as awkward and staged as the 73 questions lol
LA has some of the most unique fashion bruh
omg isn't that nico hiraga?
I have this discoust/fobia of jewelry since I was a kid and watching this was a torment. Anyone feel the same?
Kind of funny how you can go
Yo any big metropolitan city rn and people will look like this. Would have loved to see people’s actual distinct LA style, rather than fashion peoples 😇
I like your videos but why don´t you ask about their bags??????
Why don’t you guys go to the Valley for style?
nico one day i'll meet you and we're gonna be besties 4eva
This is over-produced. How do you have such a large crew for this when UA-camrs do this exact video with people or less?
Not a lululemon legging in sight. This isn’t LA. Everybody knows angelinos live in their lulu leggings.
LOL at the comments 😂 There’s no such thing as street style in LA, it’s a driving city, people don’t walk like they do in Paris or NYC. That’s why this was staged.
I havent driven a car since 2009. I live in West Hollywood. There’s more of us than people realize
I like when people talk about the 80s like it was 1880s on the frontiers of fashion ....... 🤔🤪🤣
nice and beautyful
Enthusiastic letter 67
6:00 streetwalker vibes....how lovely. 🙄
😅😅😅I have lived in LA for 25 years. She is literally the closest to normal. Or its beach, yoga or surf wear.
@The Unknown Vlogs
So fake lol stop real people who actually use the metro here - they have style! People w this kind of money don’t have “street style” in LA. They’re all in cars
I’m so confused by the “real LA natives wear yoga pants!” narrative, like this is not Vogue???
please make the videos a lil bit more longer :)
Sad to see no actual unscripted people. Just how vogue france walks up to random uniquely dressed people, I'd wish to see that here
Give credit to Unknown Vlogs!
Next....
What Are People Wearing In Des Moines.
💀
So everyone is rich.
Nico 🥹🥹🥹🥹
some people just love the homeless look and call it vintage lol we wear yoga clothes in LA mostly
LA FASHION IS LAID BACK YET THEY RUN OUT OF TRENDS THE QUICKEST
wow
What Are People Curving In Los Angeles? | Skins Of L.A. | Vogue
Why they look so fake ? Like, it looks forced
Bạn đã đưa tôi đến thiên đàng. Mọi thứ điều rất tuyệt vời❤
The best cities to do this is Paris, New York and Tokyo and maybe the Northern European cities. This one seems so fake.
I’m always surprised that people dress like garbage and are so confident about it
Where is the Don't recommend channel promt on this? 👎
currently they wear mostly trashcans and paperbags😂
NICOOOOOOOOOOO
In LA they don’t care what you wear lol
❤
Nice
Ok
L🤍VE the new series street off
*Tired of looking at crochet in LA. It's not even practical with the weather....*
