No wonder delivery drivers went on strike. No AC, shit equipment, heavy lifting that I've never even been asked to do in a factory. It's amazing you found someone who likes the job through all of it; imagine the kind of happy workers you would have if you did better.

You have a great point. However, …possibly, someone finds this job fulfilling as a purpose beyond themselves by serving their community. Who doesn’t anxiously wait for their package? Literally, it’s true what they say…If trucking stops, everything stops. That’s no exaggeration and the truth is that all of us (myself included) take these folks/services for granted in no time flat. Additionally, compare the pay, conditions, and quality of life to 90 some percent of the rest of the world. That’s the perception I have earned in my deployments/military career.

I know this life 😅 I very rarely use the dolly, even for heavy stuff I’m usually carrying it. It’s pretty smooth overall. Unmanifested packages was a on going problem when I first started so I started scanning every package that I could at the warehouse before I take off. The best way to make your day quicker is to use the map on the scanner and get about 10-15 stops ready in advance so you can just grab & go.

Shit ain't right with the stuff we have to deliver by ourselves. This dudes truck is nothing compared to what its really like. Light day my dude? Tell them like it really is 😂😂😂. I hear ya madnalab3901! I too work for an Amazon DSP. They work you to death for a shitty $19.00 per hour. There’s one young driver who shows up smelling like weed every morning so I told the owner. Many times this driver came back with the van smelling like weed so finally he confronted the kid who basically admitted he smoke weed earlier. Did he fire him? Hell no. He hasn’t gotten a route the past few days but he’s still employed which is bullshit. Amazon doesn’t care about their DSP drivers, they only care about how many stops and packages you can deliver on a shift. Don’t go to Amazon, you’ll regret it.

The pictures are useless in finding a package that has been delivered to the wrong address and the photo consists of your package on a concrete slab taken from about a foot away, which is what happens in our area. The good thing is I get to know who all and I do mean all my neighbors are when I get their packages.

If I get a nice van, I will clean it up myself, with armor-all and everything! ... but that's mostly just when I get one of those custom delivery vans, Ford Transit or Ram Promaster walk-in vans. It's really nice to be driving in a pristinely detailed cab. Worth taking 15 minutes to clean it up. ... then again, I am kinda weird and I find it satisfying in a way to clean up dust and stuff.

Ive done this job about 5 years now. While FE consistently makes life exponetially more difficult for contractors and, in turn, drivers- I still mostly enjoy the solitude and adventure aspect.
My breaking point will likely be the express integration as inefficency drives me nuts and driving the route over and over to meet times just bores and aggravates me.
That and the impending requirement for us to run the route as DRO directs. The enjoyment factor is whittled away just a bit every year.
