I know you must have something that ties that incident to the other events...right? Your way of theory crafting from a writer’s perspective rather than a “detective” perspective is really what glued me to your channel. People often get too stuck on the big details while forgetting big things are made of smaller things. So i truly I appreciated your attention to the smaller “less” important details of these games.

Also, whoever made that thumbnail is just the most talented, amazing, handsome, majestic, smart, cool, funny, etc. person that has ever graced the Earth with their existence. You can TASTE the detail in those stock text effects, FEEL each and every layer of semi-transparent darkening of the background, SMELL the effort that went into carefully erasing the corners of said background, and so much more. Honestly, the thumbnail itself deserves a 6-hour long review video just to fully analyze all the attention to detail that went into making it.
i personally LOVE the angel, magic and timeloop related theories (basically chapter 2 of this video) It really feels like those conclusions come from pretty logical areas from what we already know or have heard
Personally I think "your choices don't matter" is Deltarune's "kill or be killed" rather than its actual thesis, so I'm not sure about ending the story in a time loop. Maybe the regular ending leads to a reset, but if you do the optional bosses and collect the chaos crystals, it can lead to a more satisfying conclussion.
Hey Jaru! I was wondering if you were planning a video on the Roaring Titans and what they might be. In your lorethrough video of Chapter 1 you speculated that the Titans may be oceans and mountains animated by the Dark Fountains if many are opened. Maybe you could follow this line of thought, as I couldn't find any theory on the Titans themselves. In Greek mythology, the Titans were the previous race of gods before Zeus and his kin, but they were defeated, overthrown and trapped in the deepest part of the underground by the new generations of gods. Considering Jevil made a connection between hell, the knight and presumably the Titans. Perhaps they are a previous race of Darkners, or darkness coagulated into beings. I hope this catches your attention.
These theories are honestly so cool to me, and it feels very different from most others. Most others I see almost act like every piece of information to figure things out is in the game right now, despite the fact that we still have 5 chapters left. While these theories may seem outlandish and impossible, it's important to consider that we don't have all the information. Some things might not have compelling evidence only because the evidence hasn't showed up yet! Keep up the awesome work! I'm excited to see what other conclusions you come to in the future.
As someone who has spent an obscene amount of time theorizing and literarily analyzing Chara, their role in the story, and their relationship (or lack thereof) to Undertale's narration all I can say is ur walking a DANGEROUS PATH with that one- For real tho I'm very excited for it. You have such a rich and detailed understanding of the mechanics of soul possession. I think it would be very interesting to hear your take on what the Undertale Chara is and how they work, because as far as we know their soul combined with Asriel's and then somehow got destroyed even though they had a human soul that should have persisted after death. Everything about Chara is so mysterious and makes little sense, which makes it fertile ground for you and your theory crafting.
You're not wrong! Chara theories are almost as treacherous as Gaster theories at this point. xD And the idea of doing a video theorizing about what exactly Chara is in UNDERTALE and how they function sounds like a wonderful idea! I'll jot that down, as I'm already coming up with theories about that as we speak. xD
Something to remember about chapters 1&2. They're still technically demos. Toby can retroactively change and add anything by full release. Look at Nubert's addition to chapter 1 right before 2 came out. I bet he'll add the fully fleshed out element system in every chapter by the end.

I think I know where the one of the final few battles will take place, Toriels class room, the secret boss fight in the hyperdodecaheron, because it's a multidimensional shape (probably gaster fight if he's in the game) and the fight against the knight on the throne of the gods, because well it'll probably turn into a mountain or something in the dark world

I said it once a long time ago, but I really like the way you incorporate how narratively compelling a theory is into your theory crafting. Toby Fox probably wants to make a compelling story, so I think it makes some sense to lean into it. Besides, it's more fun this way!
Thank you! That is absolutely the most important factor for me. A character twist being interesting and compelling is far more meaningful to me than it having strong evidence. Oberon Smog is a character I quite like because it builds on our former knowledge, uses it against us, and the surprises us with a natural evolution of the mechanics we already understand! That playing off our expectations is a big part of what makes this kind of story enjoyable, at least in my eyes. x)
Counter to the time loop theory: The angel will begin to reset everything for the time loop, but right before it happens, Kris and team will stop that from happening. I think this for two reasons. 1) Stuck in a time loop just seems like a bad ending narrative wise. Like a "it was all just a dream" kind of ending. 2) it would further reinforce the "your choices don't matter" theme that Deltarune has. That kinda seems pessimistic, so I think it would be better rephrased as, "some events are inevitable, no matter how hard you try to stop them". Not even a godlike being can escape fate. Some things are just meant to be, for the better, or for the worse. I think that there are two different "endings". The good ending is where you defeat the angel, (or whatever thing that will cause the time loop) and magic is returned to the world. The bad ending is where you fail, and everything gets reset. But this seems too punishing to play the game again, so it may work in a slightly different way, via Kris' determination, as the worlds are one again. Either way, the timeline is reset to a certain point, as if you never failed. That is how there is still technically one ending, but also too. A personal theory of mine for the roaring knight, bases itself in the obvious fact that it's based on the rumbling from AOT. The similarities are there, going from how it's supposed to start, to how it's enacted. The point of the roaring knight is for balance to be kept, a status quo, when the status quo is broken, it starts a world ending event that essentially resets the world. Given what we saw from the Spamton NEO fight, what's likely going to happen is that Kris is going to take control of the roaring knight (it being a role, not exactly a person) and will justify purging the world by using the reasoning that they are freeing everyone and themselves from being controlled. So in the end, Kris will definitely be a final boss.

A debate I frequently have with myself is whether or not monster food is as incorporeal as it is in UT - we have evidence Toriel makes physical food for Kris at least, but it is unclear to me if Toriel also eats that physical food, and if so, if that means Monsters are unusually corporeal in DR
While I didn't specifically comment on this aspect of monster biology, part of the implication of monsters having physical bodies now is that they also eat physical food. So, yes, I agree with that perspective.

I would love literary analysis based Deltarune theories. People often get caught up in big lore reveals over what the story is trying to say. I love thinking about themes and narratives. The themes of Deltarune are ripe for speculation. What does the Snowgrave route mean, metatextually, and how might that continue to manifest in future chapters? You don’t do that stuff though. You treat, “your choices don’t matter,” as the theme of Deltarune. Even if literally every important character is motivated by that concept, that doesn’t make it the theme of the game any more than “the moon will fall and kill everyone,” is the theme of Majora’s Mask. (It’s a motif, or a premise.) The theme would be, *“dealing with helplessness,”* or something. What will Deltarune have to say about that theme? Who or what acts as the emotional core for the story to deliver it’s message? It didn’t matter, when writing Oberon Smog, how he connects to the main cast, or if he would help the story explore deeper themes. It only mattered that his choices don’t matter, and that he fits into the Jaru-Theory Cinematic universe. It’s a big lore reveal for the sake of it. That is why people say the theories are like fanfiction. If you want to make a “literary analysis” based theory, you need to put in the legwork to do literary analysis. If “your choices don’t matter,” is the theme, what is the game trying to say about that theme? What the game is trying to say should be the premise everything is based on. Without literary basis, and with such leaps in logic, the theories are just wouldn’t-it-be-cool-if’s that have been rounded up into their own universe.

I think one of the best theories has to be the sans and mysteryman theory from the monsters bleeding and such video, it's such an unique take on all the gaster mystery to the point where I'd love for it to be canon!! Also, I wish your mother gets well soon!!
It’s funny, because the asriel dying theory is very reminiscent of the plot of Omori, especially with Kris (and maybe ralsei) being the only one to know about it. I feel like it’s clear that Toby Fox definitely really liked Omori and after Omocat and Toby Fox collabed in “Sky’s Forever Blue”, it seems even more likely that Toby takes inspiration from Omori in making Deltarune.
I love your way of theory-crafting these fascinating and well thought out theories for the game. I feel like this is the essence of storytelling, being able to pick apart the themes and getting into the head and shoes of the writer. I love writing and reading myself, so I connect deeply with your theories; with how deep, twisting, and genuine they are! You can really tell how much you love these games, and it’s awesome to see. The part of me that wants to not already know the beginning and end of deltarune and the part that wants you to be correct after all your efforts are at constant battle within me. Be it fan fiction or canon your theories are always entertaining so keep it up.

Great summary! Helped me get all those ideas back in my head in order. If you're looking for another interesting subject, I'd like to know your thoughts on the dark worlds and their histories outside of the angel or machinations of the light world. It's clear that characters like Queen and King know of each other and have some kind of past, and Seam knows of Spamton and the theoretical next secret boss who are both also from different dark worlds. I know ideas have been thrown around of there being once a unified dark world presence before it split off into different dark worlds. Castle town also likely plays a big role in this regard, with secrets inside holding the keys to our answers. Maybe I've overlooked a detail as one tends to do, so let me know if I'm off base in thinking it hadn't been fully confirmed that the dark worlds used to be linked in some way, shape, or form. Also, it might still just be interesting to examine how it might work and be relevant to the story if it is already confirmed.
Idk if you or anybody has noticed this before idk if I have said this on another video before the first half of The Roaring and Don't Forget line up pretty well I feel like Don't Forget is hinting bits of the full story of Deltarune if we link it to The Roaring (it's like a rewritten ending for a tragedy, to force a good ending) there could be a lot of possible events for the endgame of Deltarune, but I think all of these revolve around the red soul (the player) existing, controlling, and helping the inhabitants of Deltarune.
This is such a good summarisation of all your videos! I just wanted to say that for the elemental pairs video (which I rewatched) that maybe the book and colour pair could have been colour and art. I feel as though this is supported by the fact that all the books you mentioned were colouring books and art also is related to colour and such. But this video has tempted me to watch all the videos of the lore I missed because all the conclusions are just so cool!
to be completely honest, I adore your channel and theories BECAUSE they're just batshit insane sometimes, and i love a little CHAOS! CHAOS! sometimes :)
I wonder, does it still count as an ending if it's a fake one? What I mean is, what if the ending to deltarune is a good ending, and after your first playthrough in deltarune, you get a fake ending and the timeline "resets" but for some reason, kris or susie remembers the past timeline, maybe get a shadow crystal or something. And then the timeline changes and since they know what to expect, the events of the game is similar but ever so different, they take different routs of the game, and try to do something about it and at the end, they are finally able end the time loop once and for all. Also if this is indeed in a time loop, whay would be cool is if there was a paradox in the game, like in ocarina of time, you learn from the windmill man the song of storms, where he learned it from a kid 7 years ago, but when link goes to play that song again in the past, it creates a paradox. He is the kid who played that song in the begining, but he learned that song from someone who heard it from the beginning.
i think that a reason that people may call these series of theories as "fanfiction" is due to the fact that they're all dependent on each other, if that makes sense. with each progressing theory you make, the conclusions you reach are quite heavily based on previous conclusions in your other theories, which are also sometimes based on conclusions of your other videos, etc. it makes for a nice, cohesive, and chronological set of theory videos where you're painting more so what you believe to be the grander narrative and set of events of deltarune rather than isolated analyses. this isn't bad, obviously, in fact i think it's refreshing, but as you note, it is definitely not everyones cup of tea
Indeed! It's a unique take on theorycrafting, but I reckon that it's a worthwhile one. If I end up being correct in even a few of my predictions, I'll have demonstrated the validity of literary analysis when it comes to predicting narratives. If I end up being wrong about all my predictions, I'll still have woven my own narrative that I (and many of my viewers) have found quite compelling. It's a win-win I reckon. x)

I think people are being way too elaborate with their Ralsei theories. I have one that I think is correct, because of how simple it is. Its all about his name. Who would ever give a goat monster the name "Ralsei"? It can't be a coincidence that there's also an Asriel. It has to be intentional. The one person who would do this, is Asgore. Because he's terrible with names. My theory is that Asgore and Toriel had another child, named him Ralsei because Asgore is terrible at names, and Ralsei somehow became lost and trapped in a dark world. It even explains why Toriel is so protective toward Kris. Because she lost one of her children, and won't lose the adopted one too. Not if she can stop it.
Not sure if you’ll see this but I was watching a video on undertale, and alphys said that they couldn’t handle that HIGH of a concentration, What if the deltarune monsters just have a significantly higher amount of physical matter, or that you don’t need as much determination to make a dark fountain?
Hey, just a thought since I have nowhere else to post this and it just crossed my mind. What are the odds that W.D. Gaster, the entity as we know him, is just Undertale Sans (as opposed to Deltarune Sans)? It would explain why there's no equivalent "former royal scientist" character in the Deltarune universe. It would explain why Sans has Gaster Blasters if Gaster is just another version of Sans. It would explain why Alphys was willing to work with Sans to fix the mysterious machine, if Sans is just another version of somebody she was already familiar with. It would be a neat explanation for why Gaster is a font skeleton (he's just another version of one we already met). The only thing this (and the "Sans traveled to Undertale to save Papyrus" theory) doesn't answer is why Papyrus _also_ "just showed up one day and...asserted [himself]". Oh hang on, quick brainwave. We don't know as of yet _who_ exactly Sans's brother in Deltarune is. The "trousle of bones" description is a fun nod and easter egg, but in Chapter 2 the noise is going away, right? What if that's actually an indication that this character is _not_ Papyrus? That the description is a cue from Toby saying "Yes, there's a Sans brother character nearby, but it's not the way you think"? In that case, maybe Undertale Papyrus is in fact a portion of W.D. Gaster, like some theories postulate (and thus a portion of Undertale Sans, if my theory holds any water). It just stuck out to me now that despite the blatant pasting of Sans front and center in Deltarune Chapter 1, Papyrus is treated with a strange amount of intrigue for seemingly no reason other than to tease the fans. Food for thought. I welcome opinions.
My main problem with your theories is that they try and predict the narrative of Deltarune based on only 2/7ths of the story being known. While Toby isn’t the type of writer to make plot twists out of nowhere, and includes plenty of foreshadowing, he also deliberately keeps us in the dark about a lot of things, so we can stay surprised. Think about all the revelations in chapter 2 that completely caught us off guard. Queen’s appearance, the roaring, Determination being relevant, everything about Spamton, the Snowgrave route, Berdly being a gamer, etc. A lot of these have foreshadowing in chapter 1, but still caught us completely by surprise. I think a good story is one where it’s incredibly difficult to predict the outcome of the story early, but the plot twists still make logical sense in retrospect. That why these theories come across as fanfics. The actual plot of Deltarune will probably not be predicted this easily. Then again, I could be wrong, we just have to wait and see…
Ah, but that's what makes me special as a theorist! We absolutely do not have enough evidence to predict the rest of the game, you're absolutely right on that! But that's why I don't rely purely on evidence. I'm approaching from the perspective of a writer building a story from scratch, not the perspective of a viewer trying to unravel the story with evidence. I'm all about getting into Toby Fox's headspace in order to figure out what kind of story HE wants to writer. Thanks to me using this method, I don't have to rely on just DELTARUNE to solve this puzzle! I may only have 2/7ths of DELTARUNE (maybe even less than that), but I also have every other work of fiction that Toby Fox has ever written! And those are JUST as useful for getting into his head, if not MORE useful. But yeah, time will tell how effective my strategy really was. xD
@@JaruJaruJ That is well said. But I do want to point out how Deltarune is a game that has been conceptualized in 2012. The ending to the game is apparently a literal Fever dream. While the plot has likely gone through many revisions over the years, and will likely do so even in the future, Toby isn’t making up a bunch of mysteries and figuring out the answers to them in a way that makes sense. He is showing us what he wants us to see, and likely keeps some details vague to keep them a surprise later on. But what do I know?
I really like the idea of the Mane Axe being a lock of hair, but I don't think it's Susie's own hair. My personal theory is that it's actually hair from her younger sister (as it is heavily implied that she has a sister). First of all, the decription of the axe says it's "forged from the mane of a dragon whelp". To me, the word "whelp" implies a young child- somewhat younger than a teenager like Susie. Second of all, where would that hair come from? It would have to be detached from Susie's head, otherwise all of her hair would've turned into axes. And if it's detached from her head, why would she just be carrying around a lock of her own hair? It seems more likely that she has a lock of her sister's hair, for some sentimental reason. Of course, that does beg the question, why would such a non-sentimental character as Susie carry around a lock of hair for sentimental value? That has some potentially very depressing implications for her backstory.
Nice theories! But one thing confuses me, it turns out that when we pass Deltarune, the world will reset, and all the content related to Sans will disappear. This is strange in itself, because there is a lot of choice in his dialogues and you will not be able to learn about all this at once. Besides, why did Sans decide to leave his universe right now, because before the reset, the events were exactly the same. And we are not witnessing the first restart, because Jevil and Spamton have already seen something in the crystals that drove them crazy. I hope this will help improve the theory, and not harm it. I wish your mother good health.
Thank you! And yeah, the exact logistics of Sans are hard to reckon with. Either the timeloop is generating new Sans's, the Sans we see is a fake Sans or an echo of Sans, OR Sans hasn't been able to successfully use his machine because he hasn't had access to it before now, and only through getting help from us completing a special route will he be able to flee this reality, and in all follow-up playthroughs Sans just won't be there. I'm inclined towards that final explanation myself.

Also, whoever made that thumbnail is just the most talented, amazing, handsome, majestic, smart, cool, funny, etc. person that has ever graced the Earth with their existence. You can TASTE the detail in those stock text effects, FEEL each and every layer of semi-transparent darkening of the background, SMELL the effort that went into carefully erasing the corners of said background, and so much more. Honestly, the thumbnail itself deserves a 6-hour long review video just to fully analyze all the attention to detail that went into making it.

Personally I think "your choices don't matter" is Deltarune's "kill or be killed" rather than its actual thesis, so I'm not sure about ending the story in a time loop.
Maybe the regular ending leads to a reset, but if you do the optional bosses and collect the chaos crystals, it can lead to a more satisfying conclussion.

I was wondering if you were planning a video on the Roaring Titans and what they might be. In your lorethrough video of Chapter 1 you speculated that the Titans may be oceans and mountains animated by the Dark Fountains if many are opened. Maybe you could follow this line of thought, as I couldn't find any theory on the Titans themselves.
In Greek mythology, the Titans were the previous race of gods before Zeus and his kin, but they were defeated, overthrown and trapped in the deepest part of the underground by the new generations of gods. Considering Jevil made a connection between hell, the knight and presumably the Titans. Perhaps they are a previous race of Darkners, or darkness coagulated into beings. I hope this catches your attention.

These theories are honestly so cool to me, and it feels very different from most others. Most others I see almost act like every piece of information to figure things out is in the game right now, despite the fact that we still have 5 chapters left. While these theories may seem outlandish and impossible, it's important to consider that we don't have all the information. Some things might not have compelling evidence only because the evidence hasn't showed up yet! Keep up the awesome work! I'm excited to see what other conclusions you come to in the future.

As someone who has spent an obscene amount of time theorizing and literarily analyzing Chara, their role in the story, and their relationship (or lack thereof) to Undertale's narration all I can say is ur walking a DANGEROUS PATH with that one-
For real tho I'm very excited for it. You have such a rich and detailed understanding of the mechanics of soul possession. I think it would be very interesting to hear your take on what the Undertale Chara is and how they work, because as far as we know their soul combined with Asriel's and then somehow got destroyed even though they had a human soul that should have persisted after death. Everything about Chara is so mysterious and makes little sense, which makes it fertile ground for you and your theory crafting.
You're not wrong! Chara theories are almost as treacherous as Gaster theories at this point. xD
And the idea of doing a video theorizing about what exactly Chara is in UNDERTALE and how they function sounds like a wonderful idea! I'll jot that down, as I'm already coming up with theories about that as we speak. xD

I think I know where the one of the final few battles will take place, Toriels class room, the secret boss fight in the hyperdodecaheron, because it's a multidimensional shape (probably gaster fight if he's in the game) and the fight against the knight on the throne of the gods, because well it'll probably turn into a mountain or something in the dark world

I said it once a long time ago, but I really like the way you incorporate how narratively compelling a theory is into your theory crafting. Toby Fox probably wants to make a compelling story, so I think it makes some sense to lean into it. Besides, it's more fun this way!
Thank you! That is absolutely the most important factor for me. A character twist being interesting and compelling is far more meaningful to me than it having strong evidence. Oberon Smog is a character I quite like because it builds on our former knowledge, uses it against us, and the surprises us with a natural evolution of the mechanics we already understand! That playing off our expectations is a big part of what makes this kind of story enjoyable, at least in my eyes. x)

The Great Jaru Theories, finally in one place - amazing!
Counter to the time loop theory:
The angel will begin to reset everything for the time loop, but right before it happens, Kris and team will stop that from happening. I think this for two reasons.
1) Stuck in a time loop just seems like a bad ending narrative wise. Like a "it was all just a dream" kind of ending.
2) it would further reinforce the "your choices don't matter" theme that Deltarune has. That kinda seems pessimistic, so I think it would be better rephrased as, "some events are inevitable, no matter how hard you try to stop them". Not even a godlike being can escape fate. Some things are just meant to be, for the better, or for the worse.
I think that there are two different "endings". The good ending is where you defeat the angel, (or whatever thing that will cause the time loop) and magic is returned to the world.
The bad ending is where you fail, and everything gets reset. But this seems too punishing to play the game again, so it may work in a slightly different way, via Kris' determination, as the worlds are one again. Either way, the timeline is reset to a certain point, as if you never failed. That is how there is still technically one ending, but also too.

A personal theory of mine for the roaring knight, bases itself in the obvious fact that it's based on the rumbling from AOT. The similarities are there, going from how it's supposed to start, to how it's enacted. The point of the roaring knight is for balance to be kept, a status quo, when the status quo is broken, it starts a world ending event that essentially resets the world. Given what we saw from the Spamton NEO fight, what's likely going to happen is that Kris is going to take control of the roaring knight (it being a role, not exactly a person) and will justify purging the world by using the reasoning that they are freeing everyone and themselves from being controlled. So in the end, Kris will definitely be a final boss.

On the topic of theories, do you think you're going to do a video on the nature of monsters in DR? A debate I frequently have with myself is whether or not monster food is as incorporeal as it is in UT - we have evidence Toriel makes physical food for Kris at least, but it is unclear to me if Toriel also eats that physical food, and if so, if that means Monsters are unusually corporeal in DR
While I didn't specifically comment on this aspect of monster biology, part of the implication of monsters having physical bodies now is that they also eat physical food. So, yes, I agree with that perspective.

My favorite tactic for messing with gaster theorists is using the redacted sprite instead of the mysterman sprite.
I would love literary analysis based Deltarune theories. People often get caught up in big lore reveals over what the story is trying to say.
I love thinking about themes and narratives. The themes of Deltarune are ripe for speculation. What does the Snowgrave route mean, metatextually, and how might that continue to manifest in future chapters?
You don’t do that stuff though. You treat, “your choices don’t matter,” as the theme of Deltarune. Even if literally every important character is motivated by that concept, that doesn’t make it the theme of the game any more than “the moon will fall and kill everyone,” is the theme of Majora’s Mask. (It’s a motif, or a premise.)
The theme would be, *“dealing with helplessness,”* or something. What will Deltarune have to say about that theme? Who or what acts as the emotional core for the story to deliver it’s message?
It didn’t matter, when writing Oberon Smog, how he connects to the main cast, or if he would help the story explore deeper themes. It only mattered that his choices don’t matter, and that he fits into the Jaru-Theory Cinematic universe. It’s a big lore reveal for the sake of it. That is why people say the theories are like fanfiction. If you want to make a “literary analysis” based theory, you need to put in the legwork to do literary analysis. If “your choices don’t matter,” is the theme, what is the game trying to say about that theme? What the game is trying to say should be the premise everything is based on.
Without literary basis, and with such leaps in logic, the theories are just wouldn’t-it-be-cool-if’s that have been rounded up into their own universe.
This is the video designed for summarizing theories without context or storytelling. If you want the literary analysis and pizzaz, go watch those original videos.

It’s funny, because the asriel dying theory is very reminiscent of the plot of Omori, especially with Kris (and maybe ralsei) being the only one to know about it. I feel like it’s clear that Toby Fox definitely really liked Omori and after Omocat and Toby Fox collabed in “Sky’s Forever Blue”, it seems even more likely that Toby takes inspiration from Omori in making Deltarune.

Great summary! Helped me get all those ideas back in my head in order. If you're looking for another interesting subject, I'd like to know your thoughts on the dark worlds and their histories outside of the angel or machinations of the light world. It's clear that characters like Queen and King know of each other and have some kind of past, and Seam knows of Spamton and the theoretical next secret boss who are both also from different dark worlds. I know ideas have been thrown around of there being once a unified dark world presence before it split off into different dark worlds. Castle town also likely plays a big role in this regard, with secrets inside holding the keys to our answers. Maybe I've overlooked a detail as one tends to do, so let me know if I'm off base in thinking it hadn't been fully confirmed that the dark worlds used to be linked in some way, shape, or form. Also, it might still just be interesting to examine how it might work and be relevant to the story if it is already confirmed.

the first half of The Roaring and Don't Forget line up pretty well
I feel like Don't Forget is hinting bits of the full story of Deltarune if we link it to The Roaring (it's like a rewritten ending for a tragedy, to force a good ending)
there could be a lot of possible events for the endgame of Deltarune, but I think all of these revolve around the red soul (the player) existing, controlling, and helping the inhabitants of Deltarune.

I just wanted to say that for the elemental pairs video (which I rewatched) that maybe the book and colour pair could have been colour and art. I feel as though this is supported by the fact that all the books you mentioned were colouring books and art also is related to colour and such.

I wonder, does it still count as an ending if it's a fake one?
What I mean is, what if the ending to deltarune is a good ending, and after your first playthrough in deltarune, you get a fake ending and the timeline "resets" but for some reason, kris or susie remembers the past timeline, maybe get a shadow crystal or something. And then the timeline changes and since they know what to expect, the events of the game is similar but ever so different, they take different routs of the game, and try to do something about it and at the end, they are finally able end the time loop once and for all.
Also if this is indeed in a time loop, whay would be cool is if there was a paradox in the game, like in ocarina of time, you learn from the windmill man the song of storms, where he learned it from a kid 7 years ago, but when link goes to play that song again in the past, it creates a paradox. He is the kid who played that song in the begining, but he learned that song from someone who heard it from the beginning.

i think that a reason that people may call these series of theories as "fanfiction" is due to the fact that they're all dependent on each other, if that makes sense. with each progressing theory you make, the conclusions you reach are quite heavily based on previous conclusions in your other theories, which are also sometimes based on conclusions of your other videos, etc. it makes for a nice, cohesive, and chronological set of theory videos where you're painting more so what you believe to be the grander narrative and set of events of deltarune rather than isolated analyses. this isn't bad, obviously, in fact i think it's refreshing, but as you note, it is definitely not everyones cup of tea
Indeed! It's a unique take on theorycrafting, but I reckon that it's a worthwhile one. If I end up being correct in even a few of my predictions, I'll have demonstrated the validity of literary analysis when it comes to predicting narratives. If I end up being wrong about all my predictions, I'll still have woven my own narrative that I (and many of my viewers) have found quite compelling. It's a win-win I reckon. x)
I usually use my own creativity for theorizing as well but I never saw DELTARUNE from such a perfect perspective

I think people are being way too elaborate with their Ralsei theories. I have one that I think is correct, because of how simple it is. Its all about his name. Who would ever give a goat monster the name "Ralsei"? It can't be a coincidence that there's also an Asriel. It has to be intentional. The one person who would do this, is Asgore. Because he's terrible with names. My theory is that Asgore and Toriel had another child, named him Ralsei because Asgore is terrible at names, and Ralsei somehow became lost and trapped in a dark world.
It even explains why Toriel is so protective toward Kris. Because she lost one of her children, and won't lose the adopted one too. Not if she can stop it.
That's certainly an interesting interpretation!

What if the deltarune monsters just have a significantly higher amount of physical matter, or that you don’t need as much determination to make a dark fountain?
Also I think the axe could be a toothbrush, and the auto axe is an electric toothbrush, but I like the Susie is a dragon theory more!

Hey, just a thought since I have nowhere else to post this and it just crossed my mind.
What are the odds that W.D. Gaster, the entity as we know him, is just Undertale Sans (as opposed to Deltarune Sans)? It would explain why there's no equivalent "former royal scientist" character in the Deltarune universe. It would explain why Sans has Gaster Blasters if Gaster is just another version of Sans. It would explain why Alphys was willing to work with Sans to fix the mysterious machine, if Sans is just another version of somebody she was already familiar with. It would be a neat explanation for why Gaster is a font skeleton (he's just another version of one we already met). The only thing this (and the "Sans traveled to Undertale to save Papyrus" theory) doesn't answer is why Papyrus _also_ "just showed up one day and...asserted [himself]".
Oh hang on, quick brainwave. We don't know as of yet _who_ exactly Sans's brother in Deltarune is. The "trousle of bones" description is a fun nod and easter egg, but in Chapter 2 the noise is going away, right? What if that's actually an indication that this character is _not_ Papyrus? That the description is a cue from Toby saying "Yes, there's a Sans brother character nearby, but it's not the way you think"? In that case, maybe Undertale Papyrus is in fact a portion of W.D. Gaster, like some theories postulate (and thus a portion of Undertale Sans, if my theory holds any water). It just stuck out to me now that despite the blatant pasting of Sans front and center in Deltarune Chapter 1, Papyrus is treated with a strange amount of intrigue for seemingly no reason other than to tease the fans.
Food for thought. I welcome opinions.
My main problem with your theories is that they try and predict the narrative of Deltarune based on only 2/7ths of the story being known. While Toby isn’t the type of writer to make plot twists out of nowhere, and includes plenty of foreshadowing, he also deliberately keeps us in the dark about a lot of things, so we can stay surprised.
Think about all the revelations in chapter 2 that completely caught us off guard. Queen’s appearance, the roaring, Determination being relevant, everything about Spamton, the Snowgrave route, Berdly being a gamer, etc.
A lot of these have foreshadowing in chapter 1, but still caught us completely by surprise. I think a good story is one where it’s incredibly difficult to predict the outcome of the story early, but the plot twists still make logical sense in retrospect.
That why these theories come across as fanfics. The actual plot of Deltarune will probably not be predicted this easily.
Then again, I could be wrong, we just have to wait and see…
Ah, but that's what makes me special as a theorist! We absolutely do not have enough evidence to predict the rest of the game, you're absolutely right on that! But that's why I don't rely purely on evidence. I'm approaching from the perspective of a writer building a story from scratch, not the perspective of a viewer trying to unravel the story with evidence. I'm all about getting into Toby Fox's headspace in order to figure out what kind of story HE wants to writer. Thanks to me using this method, I don't have to rely on just DELTARUNE to solve this puzzle! I may only have 2/7ths of DELTARUNE (maybe even less than that), but I also have every other work of fiction that Toby Fox has ever written! And those are JUST as useful for getting into his head, if not MORE useful.
But yeah, time will tell how effective my strategy really was. xD
@@JaruJaruJ That is well said. But I do want to point out how Deltarune is a game that has been conceptualized in 2012. The ending to the game is apparently a literal Fever dream. While the plot has likely gone through many revisions over the years, and will likely do so even in the future, Toby isn’t making up a bunch of mysteries and figuring out the answers to them in a way that makes sense. He is showing us what he wants us to see, and likely keeps some details vague to keep them a surprise later on.
But what do I know?

I really like the idea of the Mane Axe being a lock of hair, but I don't think it's Susie's own hair. My personal theory is that it's actually hair from her younger sister (as it is heavily implied that she has a sister).
First of all, the decription of the axe says it's "forged from the mane of a dragon whelp". To me, the word "whelp" implies a young child- somewhat younger than a teenager like Susie.
Second of all, where would that hair come from? It would have to be detached from Susie's head, otherwise all of her hair would've turned into axes. And if it's detached from her head, why would she just be carrying around a lock of her own hair? It seems more likely that she has a lock of her sister's hair, for some sentimental reason.
Of course, that does beg the question, why would such a non-sentimental character as Susie carry around a lock of hair for sentimental value? That has some potentially very depressing implications for her backstory.
Nice theories! But one thing confuses me, it turns out that when we pass Deltarune, the world will reset, and all the content related to Sans will disappear. This is strange in itself, because there is a lot of choice in his dialogues and you will not be able to learn about all this at once.
Besides, why did Sans decide to leave his universe right now, because before the reset, the events were exactly the same. And we are not witnessing the first restart, because Jevil and Spamton have already seen something in the crystals that drove them crazy.

Thank you! And yeah, the exact logistics of Sans are hard to reckon with. Either the timeloop is generating new Sans's, the Sans we see is a fake Sans or an echo of Sans, OR Sans hasn't been able to successfully use his machine because he hasn't had access to it before now, and only through getting help from us completing a special route will he be able to flee this reality, and in all follow-up playthroughs Sans just won't be there. I'm inclined towards that final explanation myself.
