A few years ago, I was almost hit by a cop who was on his phone . . . while I was on the sidewalk. Fortunately, I saw him driving hinky and thought, "I better keep an eye on this guy," and so I was able to jump out of the way. But he did give me a bad look.
If roles were reversed biker would have been arrested for vehicular assault and distracted driving.

@@mrmekone I think part of it is the person in front was going too fast and everyone behind was keeping the same pace as the rider in front. So when the front rider blows the corner its too late for everyone to realize that they shouldn't have "trusted" the pace of the rider at the front type thing. Or very well could be target fixation. Either way it was entertaining.

1:22 completely the biker/cammers fault. Tried to pass a car on the outside while car had R turn signal on.
the car was braking. there was no turn signal on at all, what you was was a brake light, and even when the camera turns around you can see there's no signal on. i agree the biker picked a dumb spot to pass but that situation is more 50/50 fault wise

@@parmesan6133 It would only be the driver's fault if they had just passed the motorcyclist and then made an immediate right turn (cyclists call it a "right hook" and that has killed a lot of us). Passing on the right is both illegal and a good way to end up dead. At least from the short clip, I believe the biker is 100% at fault.
Generally passing on such a intersections is bad idea or even depending on jurisdiction illegal for motorcyclists.
biker is probably legally at fault, but the car driver is the more dumbass, should’ve check shoulder knowing there was a biker there, and should’ve used signal. I typically always quick check shoulder when turning accross bike lane

Typically during those kinds of accidents the truck has a lot of weight and a lot of speed to slow down and if the stuff they are driving is sensitive then they can't do anything but slow down the truck slowly af
I have seen those accidents where the truck pushed them for 1km (0,6 miles) before they could stop
Those accidents are also terrifying for the truck driver if they know just how much their truck weighs

Fortunately for the car driver the truck was empty, otherwise it would have been crunch time. The level of lunacy it takes to think that brake checking a HGV is a good idea is beyond me.

I always ask myself, why do so many people just drive off instead of helping out? Is that not a law in the US? In Germany you can get sued if you do not stop and help after an accident.
You can't always tell from these short clips.
In some states if you stop and help and the person becomes more injured, they can sue the person who tried to help.
Not everybody is qualified to help, like if there are injuries. They probably want people to wait for actual professionals to show up.

There's already police on the scene. You don't stop unless you can see they need it (when police are there). This was obviously a simple car fire that happens every day. Car caught fire, they pulled over and got out, another car stopped to help (the dark colored car in front of the police cruiser) and the police were either called or responded to the smoke column. More people stopping "to help" would just cause more problems at that point.

Not really. The guy on the bike is stopped in the middle of the road at a spot where the speed limit is around 45 and he is in a blind zone on a bike in the middle of the road. The cop put his breaks on as fast as he could when he saw they guy after he came into view from the blind zone. I had to watch it a few times to fully realize it because the scene seemed really odd. the guy was blocking the road in the middle of the street in a blind zone curve on a bicycle. So yea the bicycling can actually go to jail for illegally parking on a road and a few other awkward charges. Hell this is an awkward and if they went to court and this guy used his own video yea its not going to look good for him because he is stopped on a no stop zone in a 45 mile an hour roadway in a blind zone in the middle of the road and not in the bike lane. Yea this guy literally put himself in the perfect spot to get hit by anyone. The really stupid fact is the video actually proves he is at fault and not the driver. He is parked in a blind zone in the middle of the street in the middle of no where on a bicycle. The cop stopped within 3 feet of hitting the guy but messed up fact is it takes about 5 feet to fully stop that vehicle going at 45 miles an hour and seeing that cop stopped at 5 feet of the guy coming into the cops vision from the blind zone yea I can not blame the cop at all. That is a downward back curve over a hill and about a107 degree turn and this guy is the type of asshole that gives bicyclists a bad name. Hell I ride bikes but I have had to deal with these asshole bicyclists who literally believe the road belongs to them and that they don't have to follow the law.

They can allways stop, but it's not guaranteed that a fully stopped vehicle can move out of the way. The only exception is on the train tracks. Do not stop on train tracks!

the kinetic energy of an 18 wheeler makes it very long for it to come to a full stop and just slamming the break is dangerous because you can easily lose control and hit more cars. The damage of the initial impact is the worse so might as well make sure nobody else gets hurt and slow down carefully.

Possibly NOT deserved. I can't be positive but it LOOKS like the same truck / situation I saw in a trucker compilation of idiot cars, only from the perspective of a car's dash cam. The previous video I saw was slightly farther back and included the moments before it passed the car that took the video. If it is the same, what actually happened is the truck was in the right lane, freeway speeds, a car from the left lane cut him off and either brake checked or was going way too slow. The trucker chose to go off to the side rather than maybe kill the idiots in the car.
