I started hitchhiking from Youngstown, Oh. to Virginia Beach,Va. the day this storm started. I ended up snowed in afoot on the Pennsylvania Turnpike for two days. I spent those in my mummy bag on a sandbank next to a small creek under an overpass outside of Somerset. It was cold cold cold but at sunrise the world was so clean and beautiful upon the freshly fallen snow!

I was a teenager when this happened. I was supposed to report to work at a Station Square to shovel but I couldn’t make it.

My mom was/is a nurse, she got stranded at work unfortunately, and ended up having to shack up at work for 10 days until the national guard could clear the roads to our house. Our neighbor was bringing milk, water, eggs via snowmobile. At the time, the snow was drifted over 12 feet high around my parents house, and at one point my dad was talking to some national guard men about possibly bringing a helicopter in to fly us out of our house because the snow was 10-12feet high in drifts on the roads leading to our house. We live very rural and I don’t remember much other than my dad constantly worrying about making sure the fireplace had plenty of ventilation and constantly boiling snow for drinking water. We were stranded for 10 days total.

I was a freshman at Pitt living in the Towers (the dormitories in Oakland). I'm pretty sure that was during Spring Break.

It’s amazing I live in eastern Pennsylvania & we’ve had like 15 or 20 storms over 20” & Pittsburgh has only 2 because Pittsburgh gets twice as many days with snow annually

Pittsburgh doesn't get the Noreaster storms that eastern PA or lake effect snows in the NW parts.

Someone I know in Pittsburgh claims that a blizzard there this coming weekend (January 19th-21st, 2019) could break the 1993 record for the biggest storm there, since there may be both snow from the "main system", enhanced with additional snow coming in all the way down from Lake Erie!

@@shycheyenne9460 I think they did get a big storm, but it didn't break the 1993 record.
