I was 13, lived in Alexandria Va. I think I stayed up most of the night watching the snow fall. It was up to my knees in the morning time.

back from spring break in Morgantown WV and living on the THIRD floor of a home on University ave - my roommates all came up to my room and we looked out since the snow was Up to the window - no power.. and the liquor maker who lived next door saw up looking out his top window and wondering if we had a broom - we all began questioning that we have one and how we would get it to him - well , one of the roommates - reached out to the side window and he placed matches upon it and shot many of them out to get a HOLE in front of the door of the snow so we would get to shovel a 7 ft snow piles to get three buildings down to get food and drinks and get the fireplace working! hence we went all over WU and snowball ski-ing week!!

I was almost 16 years old when that storm hit. I lived in Sparta, TN. I remember they let us out of school Friday at about 11:00 am. It had just started to snow. By Saturday morning you could not see out of the windows of my house. I really don't know how much snow we had because of the drifts. Anywhere from one foot to several feet of snow depending on where you walked. It snowed from mid day Friday until Sunday afternoon. I can honestly say that I have never seen snow like that before or since. By the next Wednesday, it was basically gone and spring weather settled in. It truly was the storm of the century.
