I'm not 100% sure about New Zealand falcons, but regarding other falcon species, e.g. Peregrines, this talk about killing siblings is so much bullshit. There's no siblicide among them and it's totally normal for falcons to have just one chick hatched out of even 3 eggs. Siblicide is common among eagles, not falcons.
