- The Wayne Escoffery Quartet was one of 30 ensembles performing in various locations throughout Central Park in New York City on November 10, 2012. The event was titled "Jazz & Colors". Each ensemble was given the same set list to interpret. "Nostalgia in Times Square" by Charles Mingus was originally written for the 1960 film, SHADOWS. It's performed here with its seldom heard lyrics. Wayne Escoffery -- sax, Carolyn Leonhart -- special guest vocalist, Danny Grissett -- Keys, Ugonna Okegwo -- bass, Jason Brown -- drums.
Some ppl are making negative 👎 comments. These dudes are killing it beautiful. MUSTVDOBT KNOW TO MUCH ABOUT MUSIC. The only reason why I came here is because of Wayne. Who learned from the great TOM HARREL.
This video is pure gold from start to finish!!! A magic moment captured in a magic spot of a magic city...
Now this makes me feel good! Nice work folks. Thanks

Sweet rendition of a lesser known mingus tune!
killing
She has one of those gifted voices like Annie Ross.
the bass player face is wonderful :)
He’s my neighbor! I love running into him on the street occasionally
Everybody know Wayne Escoffery is the man.He learn from the great TOM HARREL.
Nice 👍
Swinging.
Nice solo by the piano player but he wasn't as good at comping, in fact the first half of the video is ruined by his lack of subtlety
She is far too good for them. Back up is weak and monotonous.
"Backup is weak." Those guys are some of the finest players in jazz. Good grief.
