Frame Generation for OMSI 2 - Tutorial and Test

- Lossless Scaling - an upscaling app on Steam - has recently been updated with their own Frame Generation feature, entirely GPU agnostic, and working on basically any API, meaning it can even work on ancient dinosaurs such as OMSI 2 with substantial gains. I'll show you how to get the frame generation working in the game, and demonstrate how well it actually works, along with a few of its caveats.
Important things to keep in mind: add the -windowed launch option on Steam, because Lossless Scaling requires the game to be either on windowed mode or borderless window. It does NOT work on full-screen.
If the frames act up because you had to switch to the menu, press Ctrl + Alt + S again in-game to get the frame generation working.
I have tested with heavier add-ons and maps and it seems to work just fine still. A must-have for OMSI 2!

👍 Thank you !
i dont think this works for me. I dont get anywhere near as smooth frames as you and get ghosting all over. Anything im doing wrong?? The app works in other games just not omsi
Thank you!
Hello, a question. I saw one of your cars in the video with the caravan, where can you download it? Do you have a tip for me?
Hello! Why is the image washed out when I look around with the mouse? Do you have a solution for it?
This is great man! However does this help fixing with the ai textures going black?
It does not, unfortunately. What might help is changing the VRAM limit to 0.0 ingame which removes the texture limit, at least theoretically.
@@ArturAraripe thank you Ill try that I have the 4gb patch too hopefully it sorts it out :) I love having the custom ai repaints
Hello! I seem to have a problem with it. It works but, it doesnt scale it up to my 4k monitor, i think its only FullHD, and nothing seems to work. I also have a "Capture API" option, which you do not have.
Szia! Nekem is ez a bajom, hogy elmossa a képet, amikor körbe nézek az egérrel. És laggol az egerem.
@@csakisajarmuvek Nekem nem ez a bajom.
@@ImperialGaming44 ja jó. Bocsi
Would it work to increase framerates in games that are locked to 60 fps, like Spelunky?
it does!
this is great, but is there any way to get it to work with AUXI and omsi nav showing?
Unfortunately not afaik
You can try dragging omsi nav to a 2nd monitor if you have one
Then it should "work"
@@ArturAraripe ive only got 1 monitor dont think it will work
Could it work with DXVK+Reshade? The Vertical Sync refresh rate is 200. I opened LSFG and the FPS of OMSI just didn’t change(40-50 FPS) whether LSFG opened or closed. Same as what RTSS showed. The FPS counter of Lossless Scaling shows that the FPS is 130-170. I tried to test with LSFG disable and the FPS is still 130-170. It is different from what actual FPS is. Is it a scam or what
MSI Afterburner and the game engine won't show the generated frames. The only counter that works is the built-in one because apparently the shenanigan is overlayed, unlike with FSR 3. While I do not think the counter is accurate per se, neither of the counters show the true figure. I tested that by pushing the settings a bit, which tanked the framerate down to the 20s and yet it felt smooth with the frame generation thing. Whether it was actually 165 fps smooth or 50 or less I don't know for sure, but it made it playable and bearable. I dunno if it works with DXVK or Reshade bc I don't use that. I tried to use DXVK and unfortunately it crashes OMSI.
But nah, I wouldn't say it is a scam as the extra smoothness is quite noticeable, at least for me. I'm yet to figure out how to actually quantify the gains but it definitely makes things better.
Well, it doesn’t work for me from the 100 FPS it drops to 45 lol
welp
Nice video - sadly though it doesn't work with Nvidia anti-aliasing so it makes the game look very ugly. Most certainly recommended if you don't use that though.
Edit: it appears to work for you - is there anything I'm doing wrong, perhaps?
I enforced FXAA x8 via control panel
none of my custom nvidia settings were touched/affected at all
@@ArturAraripe It was my error, I had Nvidia image scaling on in my NVidia control panel by error. However, having tested it, I feel it's actually smoother without it! I'll need to test a heavier map though.
@@iiBus Apparently, from what I have gathered thus far, it only works well with v-sync off (relying on technologies such as g-sync and freesync to avoid tearing etc). That's generally where it shines.
@@ArturAraripe Thanks
How to download the map?
westcountry 3.03 is available on fellowsfilm
frame gen give false fps you know it... and it induce lot of imput lag... you should have a potato as pc for needing frame gen on this old title lol
OMSI 2 runs like crap unfortunately, regardless of hardware.
