what i LOVE about raven is that every second makes you feel like floating / some beats and effects sound drowned into the water and alongside the seamless transitions turn this album into some sort of magical experience
It also reminds me of Tricky/Massive Attack 90's era and Sade. It also has elements of UK rhythm and grime and drum n' bass. The album is very vanguard and minimalistic ambient sound design and electronica influences are incredible.
what i love about her the most is her music is so intentional, it feels so and how the productions always matches her voice and elevates what she's trying to convey. Also her writing ability and care for vocal arrangements, no matter how subtle really sets her apart from everyone else, she an artists artist. One of a kind, one of the best that we have currently. I'm so glad she came back with this album, it felt like we were left in oblivion waiting for it but it was absolutely worth the wait.
i have to say this album is my AOTY the R&B album of the decade that is the one to beat for me. Since you 2 for 5 in your kelela journey sis please complete it. Since you love all things electronic from her listen to her debut mixtape that is still absolutely amazing CUT 4 ME, then her EP hallucinogen which i know you will love too has one of my favorite r&b songs of all time REWIND, if you want the full kelela ambient levitation music listen to aquaphoria.
Theres so many videos of yours where ive only heard 1-2 songs from that album but its like i react to the entire thing with you at the same time and you take the words out of my mouth😭😭 grateful for being able to enjoy the music with you! Listen to tinashes new album that just dropped!!
i've been liberating myself to this album, especially Raven lately, by dancing in my room and other places in the house when my parents aren't home and it's one of those album where you need to take breaks to preserve its sanctity, like it's not something to casually listen to but strategically immerse yourself to when you are in a space to take in its power in mind and body and really let it move you in a liberating sense. I came here, honestly, to reward myself for working on things I don't strongly want to work on and to start with the Raven (song) review because I haven't seen many react to this for the first time at all even though i've been interacting with this album for quite some time now. I've really enjoyed your reactions and immersion in this music and allowing for the speechless, nonverbal reactions to come through, because that's really what this album has done to me. I feel and think similarly to how you do in this video, from Raven to Divorce, for instance, and it's wonderful to have this be a shared experience in a way.
Love this. Im new to her from last week and binged her music because shes that good. Lmk whats good remix was even better ft cupcakke, princess nokia, miss boogie, and jungle pu$$y.
if anyone here is really into the ambient facets of this record, I /highly/ suggest you all check out a mixtape she made with Asmara called AQUAPHORIA (2019). she took melodies from her past releases and reworked + recorded new versions over a continuous mix of classic ambient tracks, and it definitely felt telling of where she would go with Raven. you should be able to find it on UA-cam!
Still my favorite album of the year, incredibly singular and an amazing example of the ambient club revival that’s been happening these last few years. You should listen to Love Hallucination by Jessy Lanza, I feel like you’d appreciate her production and songwriting!
Album dropped in Feb and til this day it’s still my favorite album this year. 6 years was well worth the wait.
Same.
This album saved my life and got me through so much I still listen to it atleast once a day. Saw her in July it was so incredible ❤
I absolutely love Raven, it's an amazing record and was definitely my favorite of the year!
still true
this is a top contender for AOTY for me, the way this woman has never put out a bad song or a bad project in her entire career... INSANE.
Not even one. Golden discography

For real, Kelela is often overlooked as an artist but CUT 4 ME is CRIMINALLY overlooked in her discography. Would kill for a reaction to it!
