I went on this rollercoaster for the first time in 1981 age 15 whilst on holiday with my mum, siblings and my best friend. It was on that coaster that my mum met a brake man and they ended up together and produced my youngest brother. As a grandmother myself now, I took my grandson to Yarmouth to ride it again!
@@WalkWithMeTim I should have added that Great Yarmouth and the surrounding areas were a favourite holiday destination throughout my teens, 20's and 30's. Now in my 50's I am selling up to move there permanently 😁
I have been riding this since about 1972 when I was 6 with my then older sister. Missed a few years in the 80s but have never missed a year since about 1990. Always have to go on at least once when we are there yearly. My daughter who is now 13 has ridden this since she was 4 years old. I remember her first time. Me. 'Did you enjoy it' An excited Her. 'Yes, I need the toilet' Tim. Been looking forward to this one. Great video as always. 👍
@@WalkWithMeTim all part of the job Tim the views made it worthwhile though I have some very good memories of working the coaster along with many other rides your video is great by the way👍
Great walking trip Tim. I use to live in Great Yarmouth in the 50’s and 60’s, on Seafield Close. Yes I could see our old house from the top of your walk. Moved over to Vancouver BC in 1964. Thank you for the memories. Hopefully I will be in Great Yarmouth this August. May even try to catch a ride on the Coaster, that will bring back memories for sure.
My father designed and made the light installation at the top of the first incline. I think it must have been in the 60's so it's been up there a while! I remember him telling me how he had climbed to the top when they installed it. I had no idea it had a name! He used to get lots of free tickets for rides at the Pleasure Beach and some of his apprentices had jobs there, so in the summer I and my friends would spend Friday nights going round and round on the roller coaster. Happy days!
@ Pamela Batley, Thank you Pamela, I think it is fascinating to learn how many people have such truly fond memories of this fairground ride and how much it means to them. Your information contains yet another piece of wonderful fact about this structure. I wonder if there are enough people who would perhaps be interested in forming a "Pleasure Beach Great Yarmouth appreciation society"? Tim what do you think?
As someone who's been going to Great Yarmouth since I was young, and having ridden this coaster with my own boys I thought this was a really great video and something really different. Great job Tim.
I went on here with my daughter about a couple of years ago and we couldn’t speak because we were laughing and screaming all the way round. The photograph was hilarious. You have brought back some lovely memories, thanks Tim😊😊
Great Yarmouth is beautiful, can't wait to go on the fright night with my kids, 11 and 19, this year 2022 and I'm hopin that the roller coaster will be open
I've always loved this coaster, since I first visited in the early 1980's, and many times since. Fascinating to see it all close up and at a slower pace than when riding on it.
What a great walk, what a great idea Tim, I've lost count on the amount of times I've been on this roller coaster, your filming and angles from overhead were amazing, well done Tim and thanks for sharing ❤️😀👍
Hi Tim Wow this was so good my 1st rollercoaster when I was 7 . I love this Coaster my Nan and my mum used to ride it . Then me and now my 19 year old daughter has rode it since she was younger. 4 generations have enjoyed this classic coaster. Thanks Tim for sharing with us love to you as always Tracey 💕 xxxx
Wow! What a scoop. I first went on that ride in 79 age 12. The bit with the drop always looked like you were going straight across the beams it was truly my first ever exhilarating experience.
Loved this video, great to see the inner workings as well as the normal views when riding the coaster. Great to hear the background of it too, as well as how it’s maintained and operated.
Very entertaining and clear video. Well Done Tim .I visited Great Yarmouth in 1965 I was 10 at the time , I had rode the Scenic Railway (Long since demolished) in Barry Island many times and this is the exact same ride (slightly shorter though i believe) , I headed for the queue but my aunt dragged me back saying I was too young so never did manage to ride it , again well done for such an informative video .
Tim, that was really interesting. I've always liked that ride. I have walked the first corner when it derailed at the points and me and my Mum at to walk it back along with all the other passengers to the start.
Hi thanks for the walk around, I’m 72 and first went on the ride when I was 8 and never forgot it. I’v been on it many time’s and every time we visit Yarmouth I try to get a ride. Steve
Thanks Tim. That was so interesting. I first ride on it in 1969. Its always been my favorite. Mark was brilliant. Just plodding along with such confidence!
Great video Tim, I’ve been going to Yarmouth on holiday since I was 5 and I am now 65, rode the coaster many times and still enjoy going on the ride. Well done on all the other video walks you do.
There was a woman murdered on the beach just in front of the rollercoaster many years ago 1900 , a Mrs Bennett , her husband was hanged for it , maybe she is haunting the area.
Wow! That must have been such a good experience Tim to walk around the roller coaster, even stop and get a lovely view. Will check out your Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach TOUR 2021 & Roller Coaster POV.
Wow that was FANTASTIC, I loved this. It was rather nostalgic too as I have only holidayed in the area once, back in 2011 when we stayed in Hemsby but we went into Great Yarmouth every day and loved it. I think this has to be my fave coaster ever. It is exciting but not too scary which makes it just perfect for kids from 9 to 99!! Thanks for this Tim, great work Sir!
That is the only rollercoaster I have ever been on or ever will go on, I absolutely love it! I try to get to the pleasure beach at least every two years specifically for the rollercoaster I live almost 70 miles away but it's always well worth the trip. That's for posting. It's interesting seeing the coaster from a different perspective.
Absolutely fabulous video. I've loved this coaster ever since I first saw it in the 60s. Was gutted when the mountain scenery was removed. It was so beautiful compared to how plain it looks now. There used to be a castle on the top as well. One thing I always wanted to know, is the Brakeman necessary? Surely the coaster wouldn't be allowed to run if there was any possibility of it flying off the track? What if the Brakeman fell ill and failed to apply the brakes. If the train flew off the track it would be absolute carnage. For this reason I can't believe that the Brakeman is absolutely necessary. .
Happy new year to you and the family and all the best for the upcoming happy event. Yesterday as part of an activity at the care home I work at, I got talking to a guy and the conversation turned to Great Yarmouth. It turns out he built fairground rides back in the day . You video hit the spot with him. The memories came flooding back. Turns out he was part of the group that built the snail part attached to the ride in your video. Watching that I know made his day.
For five years I used walk down to the harbor along the beach every morning & I always thought to myself I'd love to walk that coaster, I'm jealous tim, great video as always 👍👍👍
Good video Tim, I've been on this rollercoaster quite a few times, nice to see it from a different perspective, never knew the grounds used to be apart of the beach many years ago.
Wonderful - this was my first ever roller coaster ride (number 1 of my current total of 1247) and it's a park with so many fond memories - was last there in May for a friend's birthday celebration (I live 10 miles from the park)
Oh yes Mr Tim, I remember this place so much as a kid and this fantastic rollercoaster, when your really young you think this is really fast, i loved this coaster as a kid, loved Yarmouth, massive memories bought back, brilliant bit of history 👍👍👍👍👍

What a smashing bloke Mark was and a joy to listen to, ive always admired this ride after long trips to visit in the 70s and 80s, it looked truely beautiful when it had the snow capped mountain look, thanks very much for the tour!!
Yes, I remember that paintwork (there are pictures a available online if you Google). I understand that when the artist responsible stopped or passed on no-one else could replicate the alpine look hence the simpler paintwork (the current scheme).
