For those who like more bass, a heavier sound goes with Rode VideoMicro II, and for those who like a lighter and more natural sound like me, then go with Rode VideoMicro old version.
Ooops, the VideoMicro II had quite a lot of electricity ground loop hum. The original Videomicro did not. Were they connected to the same equipment and were the recording devices connected to the mains?
Same settings on my sony a7iii. The micro II is definitely more sensitive and because of the fan of my monitor right in front of me and heat as you can see definitely pic up on the sound,. thanks for your comment!
I hear a low base rumble on the new video micro, Old one sounds much cleaner to my ears. Additionally the old one doesn't clip until 140db which is perfect for what I am going to use it for. Just picked one up for a clean $20 on ebay
The VideoMicro II you are testing has a strong electrical buzz (noise) in your tests, very easy to hear from 3:40, while the original VideoMic has no apparent noise. Maybe it!s a defective product and needs to be RMA'd? I wonder how all the people who praise it's sound as much better listen to your video, on a phone while riding the subway? :) Listen to the video with good headphones or on a home theater system and you will hear it too...
They sound different and they both sound good. Honestly they should have made the new mount available for $30 and call it a day. The new 1 is different but I dont know if it's better. I'd pay $30 for that mount alone...end of day.
My girl would say she looks crazy too when she looks just fine lol.....great to get another perspective in the video! Tell her we did like her review lol!
In general I prefer the sound of the II, BUT... There was a very noticeable low hum which was completely unacceptable. Have you found out why and if so why didn't you rerecord it?
I’m not an audio expert, but I thought the 2 had more presence than 1. I can’t believe it’s only $79 too!! Rode is really amazing with the products they’ve released recently! Unfortunately every time I watch one of your videos I want to buy each product😂😂. Great comparison again Luiz!!
Haha thanks for your comment! I guess that is the goal to work with creators! I know right?! $79 is pretty good! Thanks for the support as aways and good luck on the giveaway 🚀
Thanks for the video comparison. I never use the old one because it just sounds “cheap” in my opinion. New one sounds more like my Videomic Go II. That’s my go-to mic for vlogging in my environment. Philippines 🏝🇵🇭🤘
Big negativ point is that it just got 110db spl instead of 140db on the first gen. That reflect in heavy distortion in windy conditions and also useless for recording loud car audio or drums
i think ive made one a long time ago here on the channel! but basically avoide noise spaces, use carpets on the flor if you have some and reduse as much reverb as you can!
i agree sound a bit better! teh design if a plus for sure, way solid and i am not sure the deadcat size.. i dont know if helps against the wind... thanks for sharing and. comment here on the channel and keep it up the content!
Good luck on the giveaway! Result soon on one of my future videos! Stay tuned.
@HARISH definitely someone that need and are active on youtube or on the plataform!

❤❤ stay tuned

I noticed it too, getting the version 1 for cheap right now hahaha

The old VideoMicro sound is cleaner, less noise. If you want more bass in voice, this can be easily adjusted post production.

The buzz got away later on tho, sounded crisp after that
I heard it without headphones and listening on an iPad mini. Outside of then interference the mic sounded great.
For use (dji osmo pocket 3 & action 5) which do you suggest?
There is some rumble noise from the new mic. Maybe to much gain level?
They sound different and they both sound good. Honestly they should have made the new mount available for $30 and call it a day. The new 1 is different but I dont know if it's better. I'd pay $30 for that mount alone...end of day.
Haha yeah the new mount is definitely a plus! Thanks for your comment Erik! Happy holidays
What was the buzzing on some of the Micro II takes?
My monitor fan 🙈 sorry hahaha
@@luizhribeiro no, it sounded electric ground-loop hum.
I agree I heard the ground loop as if it was a bad cable. But there definitely was interference
The new Mic has a HUM when you used it. I don't know if its a bad cable or what but the hum went away when you switched to the old Mic.
otimo review camarada, adorei os testes, me fez entender bem, to ponderando qual o melhor para o que eu preciso esse ou o Comica VM30
Que bom que tenha gostado! Eu só posso passar a informação de algo que eu testei, infelizmente nunca usei VM30
Hi Luiz, would you be able to do a comparison between the VideoMicro ii and the videomic go ii?
This sounds really good
Which is the mic used to record thisvideo in the start?
Hey guys. When you use these mics to directly record in camera, how do you edit audio? I mean adding bass, treble, and removing background noise ?
you can edit that in Audacity or in your video editor
Which budget iPhone would be compatible with RODE VideoMicro II?
I would say any?!
Would this mic be good to record e.g. at a concert? Or is the VideoMic GO II better
There is a very loud humming noise with the videomicro 2. It is not there with the old one
My girl would say she looks crazy too when she looks just fine lol.....great to get another perspective in the video! Tell her we did like her review lol!

How do you change the gain? On iPhone?
The new one has a weird humm rf interferance maybe? The original sounded way better in this one. Thank you.

Niiice! That is a pretty good choice 👍🏽 thanks for sharing ! Philippines! I wanna go one day!
There's a pretty loud Hum on the Micro 2.
Not sure if was the huge ac here or my monitor fan! thanks for sharing Jorge!
Where is this low frequency hum coming from in MicroII recordings?
My monitor! 🙃
Great review
Big negativ point is that it just got 110db spl instead of 140db on the first gen. That reflect in heavy distortion in windy conditions and also useless for recording loud car audio or drums
:O thanks for this info
Electrical hum on micro2. OG mic sounds cleaner.

The sound levels in your video (generally speaking) are all over the place.
I agree
2 is louder, more sensitive
yeah I think the new VideoMicro is a bit better!
Micro 1 sounds cleaner and better
Thanks for your comment!
It just sounds a little louder, that’s it. New design is nice, but the dead cat is still way too big. 😢
