Reviewing & testing out the new ultra-compact RODE VideoMicro II. I provide several side-by-side tests outdoors, in the wind, vlogging, and indoors as a voice-over mic. Both mics perform about on par. The key difference is that the VideoMic GO II has USB-C for digital output recording, whereas the VideoMicro II is more compact and only offers 3.5mm output. Because of its size and rugged build, the VideoMicro II might be one of the best vlogging shotgun microphones under $100. The VideoMicro II is the same as the Video Micro II. The naming scheme gets a little confusing though, as the RODE Video Mic GO II is last year's model with USB-C recording.

Incredible comparison! Instead of using a studio to compare, this way ppl can actually hear how it really sounds like. Since ppl that would buy this are almost likely to use it outside instead of a studio. Making most comparisons on UA-cam irrelevant tbh lol this by far is the best one yet! AWESOME JOB!!!!!

Great video. They both lack of bass response making your voice sound thin. I have the video Micro II, but I´m selling it because the Boya BY MM1+ sounds way better and even has a headphone output.

Have you experienced wind getting through the DeadCat on the VideoMicro II? I've seen someone test and retest this and couldn't get the DeadCat to work effectively.
Nice video! What color profile are you recording on? is it Slog3?
Big negativ point is that it just got 110db spl instead of 140db on the first gen. That reflect in heavy distortion in windy conditions and also useless for recording loud car audio or drums
So the video micro is better than video micro 2? I need to buy a microphone for windy conditions which one should I buy?
@@travelpatron depends. If you want to record loud environments go with version 2.
If it just wind use proper dead cat. But I've seen a lot videos where version 2 is struggling with clipping in wind
maybe bc it‘s not as processed with the lows? the lows already highpassed a lot with the first gen

Hello! Choosing a microphone between rode videomicro and comica vm10 pro, what would you recommend?

Which mic you like better out of the rode videomicro ll or and rode videomic go ll? Because I had the rode videomicro ll for months now since I got me a camera and i just heard about the rode videomic go ll the features that come with it that i like so should i go with the rode videomicro ll or the rode videomic go ll?
USB-C is selling point for me. It's just easier to plug it to recent smartphones and laptops. Soundwise these are almost the same

Rode videomicro 2 doesn't work very well when is wind in my test. The original videomicro it's much better than the new videomicro 2.
why the sound from my videomic go II is so quite, and when I adjust the volume in post, it's sounds terrible

Can you remove that background noise
These are not intended for that reason. Removing background noise you need a different microphone. These are for recording the ambience and whatever sound comes directly to the microphone. You can remove in edit but there are more expensive microphones that can do that
