I got a concussion when I was about 4. I was running full speed and out of nowhere another kid ran full force into me, directly on my forehead. I passed out? and woke up to a nasty black eye and my right eyebrow was ripped off somehow. The other kid was absolutely fine

My biggest concussion was during a soccer game, someone blasted the ball right at my eye from 5ft away. My vision was dark(completely in one eye) and hazy for a few minutes
My concussion happened 3 years ago (so when I was 13) when I was riding a horse ( I compete in show jumping hunter/jumper). So, for context, I was leading this sweet Irish warmblood named Diva and Diva had been sick for quite a while. Illness spreads like crazy at the barn so we have to spray our boots every time we enter or leave a stall. Diva had been cleared to return to riding only one day prior but my instructor decided to push her into jumping training immediately. Diva was wheezing and shaking while I was riding her but my instructor wouldn’t listen to me. My instructor is a wonderful lady, I just think she made a mistake. Diva is such a good girl that she will try anything to do her job and she was pushed way too hard. We were jumping in the training and she took off way too early for the jump even though we had even spacing and landed partially on it. She stumbled and half fell down causing me to be jilted forward and fall. On the way down her hood made contact with my head and my arm was trampled. I also landed head first so it is unclear which hit caused it. I blacked out briefly and all I can remember after that was my instructor saying she couldn’t let me back on Diva since I had head pain. The thing that made me cry was that I wasn’t able to get back on and end the day on a good note the way I usually do when I fall. Diva panicked after I fell and my dad had to help catch her. Even now I still have symptoms: a headache that never goes away, intermittent loss of color vision (black and white with almost a bubble like blur on the sides. I’m not entirely sure how to explain it), sensitivity to light, etc. we’ve talked to neurologists and haven’t really found a way to fix it yet. I have a lot of other medical problems though so it doesn’t really matter that much though. I’m still riding Diva (though right now I’m not cleared for riding since I’ve been weak and dizzy lately) and Diva and I got reserve champion in our last show. Anyways, that’s my story. Not a very happy ending but it’s only been a few years.

It’s shocking to me how many of the comments start with “My first concussion”! I thought Nate was just clumsy 😮 my brothers & I were athletic & wild but no head trauma 😊
That was funny.. When I was 12, we were moving and I was riding in the back of the pick up truck with all the furniture: I was standing and there was a low hang branch on a big ass tree. Yes I got hit hard by this huge branch. I was bleeding and even was knocked out for about 30seconds. No fricking body even noticed... When we got there and I told my mother she told me id be fine: that's it!! 40yrs later and I still have a dent in top of my head.. It's a wonder my childhood didn't kill me..
