A coworker gave me his ps2 because it was "broken", plugged in my house follow your video and boom!!! Working perfectly fine. Thank you so much for this video man.
Thats awesome. i've been thinking of upgrading from the YPBPR cable to some sort of Hdmi. is that the Brand Name you're Using "HD Retrovision"? i'll have to look in to that. Thanks for stopping in.
Since my last comment, I have purchased and Hdmi to ps2 adapter and the picture is a lot clearer and less pixilated. Makes for a more pleasurable game play.
What a guy! My son and I picked up a ps2 today and after playing it a little while he calls me in as the screen is black. He'd been messing in the settings and must have changed the display mode. Thanks for this, life saver!
I had bought official ps2 component cables cheap off eBay three years ago. I stumbled on this video and remembered so I plugged them in, followed instructions, and it’s working. Thank you for making video.
I was having trouble connecting my PS2 once I had accidentally changed the video resolution. I was changing from component cables to a PS2 to HDMI converter. Since i had to flip between tv inputs and such, I couldn't remember how to actually get to the video interface of the PS2. Needless to say, your steps worked out perfectly, and the video screen worked. Now I'm getting a smoother, clearer picture, and I'm glad I came across your video. Thank you!
My man! Worked on the PS Slim. Thought this thing was done for. Had nice old school monster component cables, went through your steps and the picture came back!! Thank you, sir!
OH SHOOT IT WORKED!! I actually have a Japanese PS2 , and I tried the original steps but it didn’t work. Saw a comment and thought I’d try to mash the O button instead of the x. IT WORKED 😭 DUDE, YOU JUST SAVED SO MANY PEOPLE!
Dude is legend. Thank you for this video. I just booted up my old buddy and got that screen. Did this thing with buttons and baaaam old buddy started like a charm! Buddy hope you will get a nice life and have a cold beer this weekend lov u
My daughter was playing ps1 mosnters inc on my ps2 and said daddy its not working. So i thought my compnent cable i just got went bad after just a few weeks of use. Dig around and find the old r/y/w av cable and no luck. Still no signal. Thinking my ps2 was dead, i almost put it in storage. But i said there has to be somthing up. Tried this video on a whim. BOOM! FIXED MY SHISHHH!!!. Thank you for the video!!!! #legendarygamer
If it still doesn’t work, that means your TV is too old. I tried everything and my last resort was getting a new TV for those that are frustrated and can’t get this to work. I just saved your life.
If it didn't work for you try pressing Circle instead of X if you have a Japan or other region console. Also try different PS1/PS2 controllers or video cables as well
Thank you bro not only did you fix the no signal but also fixed a big problem when I played my ps2 on my new tv with component cables the screen was purple but this tutorial fixed that
As if I haven’t learned my lesson from doing the same mistake somehow on my AIO Dell computer, this video has prevented a rage that is as powerful as a thousand cosmic nebulas to which would have been unleashed on everything my room should I have not found this video. Thank you for preventing a stupid decision that I made the first time. ( I have anger issues and couldn’t cope with the fact I changed the setting and couldn’t change it back)
It worked, play this vid at 0.25 speed and follow the instructions, it didn't worked with the X button for me but when I tried with the O worked, so do the steps but try all buttons till it works
Bro you are the fucking best. I have my ps2 inactive for a long for this black screen, i prove EVERYTHING and finally i solve the problem, thank you again, one million times
I see that this method works for everyone, but my screen says "no signal" no matter what I do. I've tried different outputs, tried different TVs, tried different composite cables I had. I even bought this PS2 to HDMI converter. Literally nothing helps... The thing is I can hear the audio when I use the original PS2 composite cables, which makes me think that something is wrong with my console's videochip (which is strange, since I've played it before moving about 2-3 years ago). Internally it looks perfect. No dust even. I just want to have a nostalgia trip but I can't find any advice on the internet :(
@@wafflesmelvexy8915 a little update: I did manage to get the image working (but only with PS2 to HDMI adapter, not composite cables). I've sprayed some sanitizer spray with alcohol (not too much) in the AV port on the back side of the console, since I could't properly disassemble the port and clean the dust, Then I've waited an hour or two just to be sure it dried off, plugged everything back to the console console and did the method shown in the video. Then, to my honest suprise, I finally saw the PS2 menu. So I could say that your console may have the same problem with too much dust in the AV port. Try looking at it and see if it's dirty or not. Unfortunately, PS2 is a very old console and, even though it's still going strong, it does have some issues on the techincal side. Something may be wrong with the cables too. By the way, PS2 to HDMI adapter (at least the one I bought) is horrible and I wouldn't suggest getting it. Try to get the image working with composite or at least component. No input lag and resolution is a lot better. Good luck!
What's become apparent in gamer nerd-world is how many videos there are about this "no signal" and "black screen" issue when attempting to connect a 10-15-year-old PS2 console to HDMI ports. It's pretty much a backward-compatibility issue as newer hi-def TVs don't have AV (RGB) ports. The makers of converter "dongles" haven't in general informed about the relatively simple task of changing your PS2's video output from RGB to Composite mode. So thanks there are videos which explain it in simpler terms.
i have problem in my ps2 FAT won't accept any controller , the controller work good on ps2 slim but on the Fat no, any solution , when i put the controller it switched to right all the time and stayed like that
Hi there, thanks for the video. I tried this on my PS2, but it changed from no signal to say the resolution was not supported. Am I missing something? Thanks.
So this didn’t help me but for some reason when I plugged in another av cable it came up on rbg and then I changed it, maybe this will help someone
great tip. thank you for sharing this, and thanks for stopping by.
this worked for me! thanks!

Can confirm, this was the only thing which worked. Probably depends on your model/revision of PS2.
