I love how when you’re doing such tedious work n your kids distract you, you just drop your work n play with them. Showing some awesome dad skills! I hope to one day be a better man and be able to do that
I'm glad you put the mistakes in as well as the finished product. I would have made the same mistake with the leaking tires and now I know to think of that. Looks super sick, like a porsche mgb.
The best thing you're building has no shoes. Love the lines in your sculpting. Well done. Persisting past the mistakes you can learn from is how we all learn.
dude is a inspiration to a lot of Newby builders to give em hope. and his kids just make you smile and laugh, super cute.. last but not least, great channel and keep up the great work.
I'm gonna be a dad next year. The relationship you have with your son is really inspiring. I've been a sub for quite a while now and seeing you and your kid work together and learn together, and watching him grow up a little bit with each video, has been really fun to see.
I can’t wait to see what you do for the rear and even the sides. I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s done! Your builds are always killer!!
3:00 your supervisor knows what he's talking about... I wouldnt argue with him if I were you. Btw... Don't ever think we forgot about his #CarShapedSandwich it shall be done!
Dude, thank you for telling me about Buildercreator . His work is impressive.🙏 I just checked out WJP004 and I had to subscribe to him. It's the exact content I watch. Thanks again man.
Pulling moulds is a great idea on this bumper regardless of whether it's perfect or not. It'd be great to have a first time go at moulds on a bumper to proof of concept of how well it works for you. Make your first mistakes here together with those you've worked through on the bumper, your next project will be a big leap forward in parts quality, where the parts from the moulds will be sold out as quick as you could post them I reckon. I think your boutique going live could be much sooner than you'd think. You're doing really well, I'm enjoying the different techniques and your willingness to trying new things and methods to get a process that ultimately works for you. And it looks sooooo good already.
For anyone attempting something like this, I would suggest putting the car on stands and adjusting it till it's level. Screw jacks would be great for this. That way you are off your suspension and the car is and stays dead level. Just a suggestion.
@@jaskatin Provided you are working on level ground. The screw jacks can be found for pretty much the same amount of money but you can adjust each to keep the car perfectly level. That's why I mentioned it.
The part can make in there looking really good don't let nobody tell you different you're doing a good job keep up the great work on your Channel 💯💪🏼👍🏻👍🏻🙏
It's so great to know you've decided to follow the molding route. I know nothing about fiberglass! - but the theory underneath leads to assume the parts will be stronger with larger overlapping meshes, as compared to the inevitable result of multiple patches and sections of filler of making it as you go. Also, not only you can quickly made a replacement if it's ever needed, but also you may be able to sell bodykits just as Bandito Garage started doing! Best of luck with that, the project is really coming together nicely.
Proud of you dude, you're doing amazing! Very glad to hear you're moving into doing molds. You'll be glad you did. Just make sure your parts are as close to perfect as possible, you'll want to bang your head against a wall if you don't take the time to do super clean finish work before making your molds. Happy Wrenching!
Caleb, I have a 77 280z with some extra rocket bunny rear wide body fenders. I think they would look sick with the wide front and you could definitely make them work. Wouldn’t mind sending them your way man. Hit me up if you would be interested.
It'd be cool if after you make the mold you made the parts with chopped carbon for the forged carbon look, maybe take molds of the hood and fenders as well and make them from carbon too.
So glad you are moving on to moulds. making the original shape will be so much easier too, you can just use expanding foam, or drywall mud, whatever you like...
One of my favorite channels for mold making/casting is Throttle Stop Garage. He's building a mostly carbon fiber Volvo Amazon. There's also a manufacturer in England, Easy composites, that has some good stuff.
It’s awesome to see all the love you been pouring into this build, subscribed since the first video of the series that I saw Keep up the awesome work my dude!
WOW really does look like an RWB build!!! Love it!!! I have used your videos to inspire and get me thinking creatively that I'm building a one off SRT8 build. Most mopars look the same but I've put in over 100 hours so far lol. Sanding and sanding it sucks now I know how you feel!!! Lol
GREAT WORK! I've been doing custom on work. On& off (40÷yrs) something like that happened to me. When I fabled up a front valance (instead of a front bumper) an stepped back an it looked crooked by 1/2" . find out the fender on 1 side needed to have shims 1/4"shim fixed. But what I ALWAYS! Do is put the car on jackstands under the suspension to make the car think it's on it Wheels! It Don't know any Better😁 keep goin!!

I hope that guide coat doesn't cost you more. Normal matte black paint does the same exact thing. A guy I know who does restorations for 30+ years now just uses cheap black spray paint
Look up Renboard or Ren Shape for your next project. It’s a material for making plugs and has little to no distortion even under heat. It would cost a lot less than building up and shaping fiberglass.
Once you build you molds will you try and build parts for other people? If you’re going to spend the time to do the molds I would highly suggest you do. This is looking great keep up the good work!
Honestly, you limited kit thingy is a super idea, but i don't know if THIS specific one would be a good idea. Not only the car is super rare and i don't know if there will be even 10 people to buy it, but since it's bumper and fender in 1 piece, it will be a pain in the ass to ship lol.
Broooo. First off great show, keep doing this. Second, you got an ig? I’m building an mgb gt right now myself. I was going to buy the Sebring flare kit but idk now if your going to produce a short run of these kits. Want to know if/when they’re be up for purchase
🤷♂️ Happens. I spend almost as much time building a custom jig to clamp and bolt a project car to as the vehical. Not exactly practical approach for most but frankly learned how in a shop that restored high end and rare cars. Ferraris are notoriously crooked off the assembly line. So a "paint job" *started at 65K* in the early 90's. Just because ...say hypothetically even a otherwise mint example except paint. Had a a ton of bodywork to correct. And corrected with rarely bodyfiller being allowed to do it. I have a rediculous amount of both purchased and homemade grinding, sanding, die grinding tools now. But the frame mounted jig is how we straightened Ferraris and other unique cars with customized proportions. Or chop and section a donor car. Also easier to seal, paint, and polish on a gearef rotational mount. I'm good with metal and not so much in the "mechanic" areas. But the mechanics there could and often did literal build cars upsidedown. Owner got hooked on the same drugs the customers sold to pay for it though and we lost our jobs. 🤷♂️ Great learn experience though.
There is this UA-camr called BuilderCreator and he is building a supercar from scratch. He has a very interesting process for doing the fiberglass and mold work. Also he gives me the same vibe you have, kinda feels like you when you get older. Give him a watch, I think you will find it very interesting.
Are you going to mold the fender and over fender as one hole unit or just mold the over fender? I think it would be cool if you molded the fender and over fender as one assembly. And it would shave a lot of weight off the front of the car and keep you from having to trim the inner part of the fender that you can see by the tire.
I don't even own an MGB GT I have a few classics but now hearing you might do a "Boutique Run" of limited kits makes me want to buy an MG project 😂😂 better get on Ebay! 👌 Also out of curiosity I'd love to know where you got the porsche wide wings from!
You really know how to make work for yourself, why didn't you make a mould using clay and chicken wire to reinforce it then fibre glass the mould, you mentioned how to do it, just do it and you will get a much better quality parts. Nice video showing how not to fibre glass, get well soon 👍
Reinforce the mold, make it sturdy af so you can build replacements quickly should the worst happen. Which it always does when you have one off parts, never when you have a spare 🤣..
This may sound like a crazy idea but what if you molded your wide fenders into the main fender and make a mold of the entire quarter panel. That way, whoever does buy your kit doesn't need to cut into a vintage quarter panel and damage it permanently.. That way, you will save even more weight off the car by not needing a metal quarter panel and none of that annoying cutting and pie cutting the fenders.
I love how when you’re doing such tedious work n your kids distract you, you just drop your work n play with them. Showing some awesome dad skills! I hope to one day be a better man and be able to do that
