The simple little dock was such a nice touch, and something I never thought to do on my own waterfront builds, despite living on a river myself! Loving this build.
I didn't even realize you could throw a bunker hill caravan stop on the Island. It's hilarious to think of Cricket travelling hundreds of kilometers by boat to make a sale. Lots of trees for her to make examples of, at least. Might do that with Dalton Farm, which I have set up as my trade line hub for the Island. I've only built here once, really. Honestly I just took advantage of the massive unscrappable building - the bottom two floors count as covered so that's where I threw in a barracks. The top destroyed floors, especially the exposed area on the lake side, had a few garden plots laid down to produce 24 food. I threw in an industrial water purifier with a medium generator by the seating area, three missile turrets on concrete blocks facing the road, left most of the unique features intact for character and called it a day.
Every builds you do is super, no doubt it, but maybe it's time to go to the professional league! We have now progressed so much with your work that we might move to higher levels, I´m voted!
It was watching your settlement build for noobs videos that made me realize that I was completely forgetting to put bathrooms in my settlements. I like to use the outhouses in the barn section of building with a little washroom area outside like how public bathrooms are set up.
This location is always tricky for me to build since it's big. I always struggle with making something small, and simple, or to build pretty big ambitious settlement using all of it's space. But you did really good job with your own build.
Yeah, I'm one of the a-holes that rug glitches entire buildings into unscrappable buildings. Side note: you can't put dog traps in far harbor but you CAN put in deathclaw traps. I may or may not have introduced deathclaw into the environment. But seriously, one of my far harbor settlements has a glowing deathclaw pet and I love him.
As a U.S. Army Vet, this looks very accurate! I love the way this turned out! I could never build here because nothing seemed right! But this totally fits the Far harbor area! I am with you in that I don't like using anything but concrete or the barn pieces! Yes, on Commonwealth Contractor! Great vid, very good job!
Great builds all around! And yes the blasted fog and constant storms are what I hated the worst about Far Harbor. Most of my playthroughs now are with the Sim Settlements 2 mod though.
You should make a series about making settlement with a crappy made of scrap aesthetic in all of the settlements (not necessarily a build for noobs it could use complicated techniques and mods). For example, you could make a settlement at Jamaica plain (using mods to extend the perimeter and build limit) using mostly the pre-existing structures with only repairs and small extensions to the building. You could maybe get new settlement mods and do this there. I think this is more lore friendly because someone would realistically reuse pre existing structures when setting up a home in a wasteland than spending time and resources building an entirely new building instead of getting food or fortifying the structure. Essentially: I think you should take settlements and try to make something using mostly pre-existing structures and making it look scrappy and cobbled together using mods and stuff cause it’s just trying to make it look scrappy not something you can easily replicate yourself
Cool build. I had trouble here building, I put up small single story barracks. Put turrets on top. Pretty basic. I like how you used space efficiently.
I've lost count of the amount of times I've tried, unsuccessfully, to patch up the main building. Yet I never thought of ignoring it almost completely, I'm definitely gonna do a similar build to yours, once i reach Far Harbour in my current run. You've gotta love the rad storms on the island, haven't you, or pull your hair out in frustration. lol
I gotta say, I never even considered a "fort"-style build whenever I went to Echo Lake. And it really fits the place quite well! I'd say it's worth experimenting and seeing where else it would work! Two places I feel the fort build would work would be Nordhagen Beach (where there's a lot of flat land to accommodate for such a structure) and Somerville Place (which is the "last chance" before hitting the Glowing Sea).
the only problem I have with somerville is that enemies spawn in 3 locations, and all are inside the buildable area so wall builds, fort, tower builds, all are very difficult to plan defenses around.
For the main building, the warehouse walls tend to glitch in easier than any other, I've managed to create a room on the middle floor, ground floor and basement level. The roof I've added guard posts and turrets
I love the build area in this settlement, but absolutely despise this particular cell's obsession with spawning rad storms. I always have clear weather shells ready to go when I'm here, and I like to put in a lot of decontamination arches for the settlers to use. This settlement actually made me fall in love with the 4th tier Ghoulish perk, lol.
Hey Grey, I'm terribly uncreative at this kind of thing but I was trying to create a settlement that was basically a maze, with the stuff I actually use either in the center or on a second floor that you can only reach from the center (or the fast travel target rug). I'd love to see your take on this idea, if you're ever bored or want a free idea for content.
I think you could have built the barracks b inside I’ll the dilapidated building in the middle using the available floor space for beds and stuff especially because the upper floors are more intact then the second one
I have a question about resources. Granted I’m not far into the game yet (in the 20s level). But how do you get resources to actually build? I have gain access to many settlements (not workshop unlocked). But I only started building in Sanctuary, Abernathy, and Starlight (last one out of necessity). And I am scraping by to build bit by bit on my farmhouse. Dumping a lot of caps on shipments and have caravaning between the three settlements. How do you build up resources? I don’t want to steal from a future settlement and leave nothing for it. Do I just need to leave bigger builds until I’m further in the game and caps/resources are plentiful? I would to see a video about the lone survivor/settlers just starting out on their “contracting” career across the Commonwealth. Preferably with out mods/creation club. That you for your consideration!
if you invest in the local leader perk, you can establish supply lines between your settlements so they share food, water, and junk so you don't have to worry about stealing from future settlements, they just end up sharing one big pool of resources. just a few weeks ago, I posted a video detailing many strategies you can use to build up your resources, you may find it useful.
At the end you talk about "better than your normal standards". Dude, your setters live better than I ever have after 45 years of wondering on this planet. In every settlement.
How you get both dogs to sit in dog house as I had two dogs at castle and dog houses but one of the dogs wouldn’t sit in the dog house I put in for him like dogmeat sits in his and also sits in the other but my other dog won’t go in any.
Great job. I do have a question though, is there a sad kitty painting to hang up in vanilla? Or is the one I have modded. Also, you "forgot" (winkwin nudgenudge) jk. I do that myself. One time I put a couple of crappers outside in the open, and left them there. I restarted a few hours after doing that.
2:30 Yeah. The baddies always seem to attack right there. I threw up missile turrets right next to that to help with settlement attacks. Side note: "right there" where all the baddies spawn is also where you fast travel to. So if you don't move that fast travel point, you'll end up like me with a face full of missiles and super mutant.
The demon is training to beat the radiation storms, it is losing badly.
Thank you for including my local cuisine: Fiddleheads to your crops. Nice touch there 🪴 I'm liking this alternative build style quite a bit.

Yeah Crickets actually an institute asset. Just spying on him lol
Nah, that weight bench was actually in use by one of your special operations commandos with a stealth boy.

Echo Lake so should be a fortress.
Those Supermute attacks are brutal.

@@Theegreygaming I see. What about Nordhagen?
that one I think could make a good site for it.

Really enjoying this series
I think it is a nifty setup. I would still glitch in stuff for the main building though.

Your voice is making me watch everyone of your videos lol
Looks great 👍

I love the rad storms and the fog at this location, why did you remove it?
Why not try for a garden? Rundown, broken or open, a half-wild section always goes well... Still enjoying these relaxing videos. Good job.
Good morning!
1:28 weight bench lifting itself 💀XD

Weather: I want to be in the video and pay attention to me. :)
I don't know about sad kitty, but I think a number of the kitten paintings you see in game were added in far harbor.
Me, personally, i don't like that workout dock thing due to it looking like its floating but i like everything else tho.
Will you make The mechanist of lair in a future?
Wait.... isn't this the channel where i asked where i can find the main menu Red Rocket?
2:30 Yeah. The baddies always seem to attack right there. I threw up missile turrets right next to that to help with settlement attacks.

Have you done anything for an Arena??
check out my Dalton Farm video, I think I had one there.
So barracks b has theodoric of york medieval barber as there medic? god i'am old
Wait what? Lol 😆 what is a york medieval theodoric lol
Were you in the military by chance? A lot of the terminology you use is very military, Navy in particular. Just curious.
How did you get Cricket to travel to far harbor
I just used the caravan trading post object that you get for helping out bunker hill.
The weights were moving
How i find echo lakelumber mil??
Niceee
Are you using any mods
nope, mod free
