Put air brakes from semi trak to the lada
You're going to try to stop a train with those?
Lmao! Jake brakes in a Lada would be freakin EPIC!!! But why stop there?! I’d run the air ride seats, add stacks, and obviously the air horn!!! That would be awesome! 😂
@@TheOfficial_InsaneStang IIRC a Jake brake is engine braking. Any car is capable of doing this, mainly manual which the lada is
Good one
@@yung_megafone you're not totally correct
Use a common rail injection pump (30Kpsi) as a water jet cutter.
Amazing idea
They can cut the car to pieces as it's running!
it's going to seize up in matter of seconds. They already destroy themselves with tiny amounts of water in fuel.
@@tomclanys then water cut with diesel easy
@@Chester200100 they do not mix, it would still seize up. They'd have to run pure diesel, but at that pressure it would atomize into a huge flammable cloud, believe me it's hard to breathe after inhaling it. Also these pumps don't have huge flowrates, so it would be a small stream
You could mount an electric fan clutch pully to the pump and adding a pressure sensor to control it so the pump isn't being deadheaded. Pull the trigger, pressure drops, pump pumps, water comes out. Release the trigger, pressure rises, pump disengages.
or, you know, just put a pressure relief valve and make it pump back to the tank, like it's done stock with these pumps...
@@tomclanys + free hot water
@@tomclanys Yeah, that thought crossed my mind originally, but I felt repurposing something for something completely different from what it was intended for was more in the Garage 54 spirit.
@@tomclanys For power steering pumps, the pressure relief loops directly back to inlet since normal operation is full flow going through the steering rack before coming back to the tank. The pump would likely have lasted much longer if they simply hadn't jammed a nut behind the built-in PRV to boost pressure to 3-5X normal.
Cool story bro.
You should retrofit a pressure washer pump to work on a accessory belt, that should work better. Big water tank in the trunk of the lada and you're fully self contained
@Karl with a K ... I do believe the biggest problem is the water flashed to steam in a heartbeat any time the water is not flowing. If there was a pressure relief valve with some internal flow it may fix the issue.
@Karl with a K ... did you even watch the video? That pump locked up several times with only a few minutes of running. If you know anything about high pressure pumps, excess pressure will do that when it has no place to go. BTW, compressing anything makes heat. The difference is with water it tries to convert to steam, which takes up 1700 times more space.
there's something called an "un-loader valve" used in pressure washers. It's used to keep the pump from HYDOLIC LOCKING when you stop spraying.(which is why the pump pulley stopped spinning when you stopped spraying.AS far as adding soap,a T fitting added in to the fresh water supply useing a flow valve would have been of benifit.
The gearbox and rack and pinions have an adjustable unloaded valve so when you hit full lock it doesn’t mess anything up, you can hear it kick in when you turn all the way and it makes a weird noise
The pump pulley stopped after they increased the revs- probably temporary seizing from no water cooling at the roror blades because of cavitation.
@@krazykyle393 They bypassed it. That's why it squeeled when he closed the water off on the gun.
@@krazykyle393 my old car didn’t. It would just squeak the belt
@@charlie_nolan maybe it went bad
Bmi doing his job even when hes sick, keep up the grt work
That is some very creative ingenuity there! You might try taking a regular pressure washer head and retrofitting a pulley that will fit the shaft and custom making some brackets perhaps utilizing some of the already existing parts you have laying around from the power steering pump. 😏
Very cool idea! I think the seizing issues were just from deadheading the pump as others have mentioned, with some type of relief system I could see this lasting quite a while
Custom crank/belt driven accessories is a really cool idea.
A power steering pump doesn't have a high flow rate but it does have over 1000psi capability n it won't work as a pressure washer because when you stop spaying you dead head the pump n it'll blow the high pressure hose or destroy the pump it also uses the oil to lubricat the vanes in the pump n probably won't last long with water!
This channel has all the solutions to my 2 AM vehicular intrusive thoughts.
I love this channel. So much action and creativity, oh and destruction, did I mention destruction. Ah yes. Yes I did. Awesome video garage 54. And I'm joking about the destruction. When you don't want destruction I don't want it to happen to you, but when you want to destruction something, I say bring it on. See you next video garage 54, and again, thanks BMI Russian for all the hard work for translating the videos for us. Bye byes for now.
Engines are so usefull but cars only use it to move, they should make an adapter like tractors have so you can use the engine to power other stuff.
Some jeep CJ5s were offered with PTOs (as an option).
Get a tractor with a PTO shaft
Many older 4WDs (Land cruiser, Patrol, Land Rover were some) had power take offs on them
You can use a 4wd car make it 2 wd and use the other axle as a pto
@@1989stephankemkers it's not that simple unfortunately
You guys are awesome. Love from Canada!!!
Can confirm removed the pressure relief valve from my car's power steering pump and got 70% steering wheel responsiveness can now take 90 degree corners at 85mph
Garage is looking great 👍 👌 😍 hi from UK 🇬🇧 love ❤ you guys 😁
Honestly just put a tiny pulley on the pump then you wouldn't need to rev.
Try using the power steering pump to work in place of the original engine water pump. Cool video, thanks.
I know you can turn an a/c pump into an air compressor. Requires some filtering and oil circulation setup but it works well.
Earlier today I was thinking "hmm, maybe G54 should try to make a power steering system with a pressure washer"
I freaking love these guys!
it is not the blades of the pump that is the problem, the problem is the bearings on the pump shaft, as he said water has no lubricating properties, a power steering pump is an oil pump, it uses hydraulic oil so it has oil type solid bearings that need a constant oil supply, with no oil they are overheating and seizing up on the shaft even though they are covered in water.
YYEEESSSSSSS I've been thinking about this but didn't want to pay a grand to get one to test this.
I love you guys. You have the most awesome and hilarious UA-cam car channel! Much love Garbage 54
If you want more flow, you have to drill the orifice out that the spring goes under. The spring just brings up pressure.
You guys know how to have fun.
I replaced the power steering pump on my '01 Subaru Outback with a reman unit and took the old unit apart; There are these hardened metal blades that slide and pump the water. One side of each was shiny, meaning it had worn. I put one of the blades in a vice and tapped it gently with a small hammer and it broke instantly. These are VERY hard but very brittle metal. But water is not enough to lubricate them, that is why the pump seized up.
You didn’t have to turn in that core?
it wasn't seizing, they just pumped too much power through the belt. Probably more than 2 kw at max revs. This tiny belt said no. Also there were no relieve valve, so he should be spraying all the time
Lol.
Just buy a pump to suit a petrol pressure cleaner, fit it with the right gearing- 2500-3000 rpm and an aircon solenoid pulley. But fit all this to a traytop 1 tonner so you can use a 1000 L bulk liquid container. Have the pump outlet plumbed to the back for convenience of the access to fitting and storage of the hose.
There's a valve with a regulator spring in it needs to be taken out to get higher pressure.. also u can do that with a lawnmower engine or small mower weed eater motor
Use a hydraulic pump used on excavator to build pressure washer . Support from India ❤️
Indian ideas are never Good lol.
I agree with Gene Hunsinger, BUT I add the fact that you also should change out the bearings for SEALED bearings so the water doesn't wash out all the lubricant from the bearings. But Gene wins for sure!
Garage 54 is why i love UA-cam. Being genX we would have had to destroy our OWN shit to figure out how to turn your car into a pressure washer 🤣. Thanks for the entertainment fellas. 🇺🇸
😂😂
there are lots of gas powered pressure washer over here which is just a lawnmover engine attach to an extension pressure washer pump you guys should try put that extension pump on a car and check out what it can do!
By using a nut to disable the pressure relief valve you cause undo back pressure enough to stop the pump and burn the belt and overheating. I suggest rather than a nut, use a stronger spring so that when there is no flow out the nozzle, the pressure still has a relief but yet much higher.
Is a valid idea. Just need a real high pressure water pump. Wonder if a second car water pump would do.
YOU GUYS ROCK !!!
spring pressure valve in high pressure line to keep water flowing thru pump when spray valve is closed and pressure builds flow goes to zero
needs a return to tank line to handle return volume from spring pressure valve. problem solved since 1900's
I believe with the correct valving, water resistant anti friction/ceramic based coating to the bore of the pump, bearings and it’s vanes since water is a poor lubricant, a smaller tank in the back, with a garden hose bypass direct fitting in the front and you may have stumbled on to a interesting option for factory pickup trucks. If I could ever afford a new truck I’d happily pay $1000 bucks for an option like this.
My suggestion is to add an electromechanical clutch for an air conditioning compressor, find a properly sized pressure switch with a high enough rating and wire it in such a way that once the hose is not spraying water it will disengage the clutch. You can use the pressure bypass port for that as a cheap add on and stop the pump from deadheading itself which can cause issues.
You may have stumbled on to a hidden market and a way to save old worn parts and make them useful again for those who want to give it a go.
Well done.
@Karl with a K or beter yet, take a air compressor, run it off the engine and have a pressure rated tank of water and 160 Pissies of air on it, that auta give ya a decent pressure wash, that or get a pressure washer pump and use a clutch to turn it on'n'off
and its not nessesarily about the money, its bout reusing thrown aways that aint got no where else to be
@james cool story bro.
This is pretty cool
Nice, but can you connect a turbo to coolant loop instead of the exhaust?
this channel is so cool
Good video 👍.
Nice video maybe try putting a pressure gauge on it it helps dial in to the highest 😀
Right? Wheres that 500psi oil gauge he uses all the time? lol
This is why we use oil instead of water to lube the parts and prevent rust and coroshion.
I wonder if you could use the engines waterpump stick the bottom hose in a bucket and use the top hose for the water?
Windshield washer tanks and pumps as a oil slick device for anti-pursuit.
Lubrication is a wonderful thing.
I call that a success! Well partially!👋🤣it did cleaned the car! But I think the pump needed either some form of lubricant, or a larger pump with a cooling fan and larger belt. But that’s my guess I ain’t no expert!
A pressure bypass valve would sort it. At least until the water rusts the insides once sitting for a day or so. The pump is a pressure pump not a volume pump but still it need to bypass excess fluid that cant be forced past the tint nozzle.
notification squad, Have a nice weekend!🔥🔥🔥
I wonder if there was any cavitation going on and destroying the fins of the pump.
I love how the narrator speaks perfect English but has a strong midwestern accent sort of thing going on when he speaks it, and it’s stronger than his very minimal Russian accent haha. Sounds like maybe Iowa or South Dakota or something. That general area.
Hello garage 54 i have one question for you it's possible to give me one answer : My car make mix diesel with oils entry in motor why ??
Attach the pump to the drive shaft, 😎 see how much pressure you can really get out of it
Swap intake manifold for exhaust and see if it will run
He needed to have it always open that was the fail point. Letting go of the trigger hydrolocked the pump. The belt was being forced over locked pulley.
Brilliant
Nice .... willing to give ti a go ,hm I always want to try a generator and drive it from a belt getting electricity from the car is more useful 😉
That's cool! You could have it permanently mounted in the engine bay, just have a belt tension locking mechanism lever, so, when you want to use it, put the belt on, lever to tension and lock into place, attach the inlet and outlet hoses, and bingo instant jet wash!! (then when you've finished, release the lever, pull off the belt - place in glove box or boot for next time).. You could even run the inlet hose down to a river, canal, or even your mates swimming pool! hahaha 🤔👌👍🤣🤣 😎🇬🇧
Nice
What revs to get maximum pressure?
This gonna put some idea for the car manufacturing company to start build some car with it's own pressure washer built in
That tshirt looks like something my 3 year old nephew where's 🤣🤣🤣
Amazing...
Can you guys install power steering into a Lada 2105??
awesome!
im at the beginning, and im thinking viscosity is gonna be an issue. power steering fluid is denser and heavier.
fun fact (learned this from robdahm) aparently the GM pumps are like 1700 PSI compared to the fords usual of around 700 or something like that
You should get a big pressure washer pump and connect it to the crankshaft
You can try thé same but with clima compressor insted
Now make a flamethrower the same way. Perhaps run 2-stroke in it rather that straight fuel for the lubrication🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This one is off the topic, but what about glass piston rings? Maybe you think I am nuts, but let me suggest a plan. They would have to be water cut and then polished and how do you fit them? You don't. Pieces of the piston would press fit into each other.
Other than having to haul an extra car everywhere you go, it should be a workable solution to a dirty car; If you can afford to replace the pump car after every car wash. (You wouldn't want to cheap out and just replace the pump)
I'd like to see you design a way to change a tire as the car is driving down the road.
You could convert a car engine to Pressure washer, one engine to drive the engine that is converted to pressure washer 👍
they have done this with air.
using a cyliner or 2 as a compressor great volume, 150 psi pressure. always run a max pressure relief valve.
So with 2 it should be fine even on idle.
Asking anyone: can you use a steering pump to power hydraulic accessories?
Install a none return valve on the line between the reservoir and pump
This takes mobile car wash to a whole new level lol
i know this is off topic of the video? but i wanted to shoot you a idea vlad.. you know how nitorous oxcide add o2 to the engine? well what would happen if instead of nos? you use actual pure oxygen? what would happen
LADA camp stove! way to cook, way to heat water, water reservoir, A full camp kitchen in one!
im disappointed they didnt think to put in a bigger tank routed via the heater lines for hot water given they are in such a cold climate most of the time ... could heat the water and de ice stuff
And then the diesel HP pump next too!
Maybe by putting an actual pump whit a pulley to the engine, connecting the unloader valve .
That was a new/reman pump. Can you send it in for warranty? I can imagine what the builder is thinking as he disassembles it. Blyat
Power steering pump will make more pressure than an ac compressor but I don't think it will last very long with water in it instead of some petroleum based fluid but it might last long enough to wash a car
If you’re making an orv vehicle this would be sweet for a shower or just in general
Make a motor that has 16 to 1 pistons and a cam that keeps the intake valve open to halfway up the compression stroke.
it simply wouldn't start, (because 0 compression)
Can u make a lada amphibious
How about trying to make the worlds most powerful vacuum cleaner using the engine air intake
Definitely need to replace the bearings with some that wouldn't lose their lube in such a short space of time, but 'tis just an experiment, which worked... :P
7:56 chipped away the paint
i think combine 4 steering pumps together feeding into 1 hose
It actually hurt more to see that you werent cleaning from top to bottom than not using soap lol
Install a compressor on the engine and make air powered brakes
Using one or more of the powered engine pistons
Not sure how you suggest content but a home made exhaust brake
Can you make the intake the exhaust and the exhaust the intake as a future video ???
Make amphibious Lada with full track system!!!!
id love to see how much pressure you can get out of it running hydraulic fluid
you can get 2,000 psi out of that pump but that's well over the intended design.
The old guy that taught me. He turned a ac compressor in to a air compressor pump on his car.
