- IMM 5406 is the second form we are filling in this video series. We have addressed all common issues such as who should be filling this form, how to write all names in your Native Languages, and what to do if a section does not apply to you.
This video is to guide you all who wants to fill IMM 5406 form without any confusion.
I am not any authorized or licensed IRCC official. I sponsored my wife to Canada recently , and this is how I filled my form IMM 5406. My wife bacame Canadian PR in 2022.

yo man do u have any idea about sponsor details on 5406 form as i did not see any section for Spouse in 5406 online form and i filled all other leaving sponsor and submitted whole application

Hi, so for the relationship to “Mother” and “Father, since both my parents are not married and they are also not living together. Practically they have been separated since I was a baby but I have on my birth cert that I have a father. But my mom has been married before he met my bio dad. So for my mom’s full name should I enter her married full name or her maiden name? And as for the “marital status” do I put my mom as “married” or “legally separated” or “Single”?Since her first husband did not file for a divorce, and my mom and bio dad did not get married as well.

Hello, is there a section for signature for IMM 5406 online version? I can't find any but I heard application get returned for not signing.
How can i add in my native language now. I mean i already filled the info of PA and i didn’t add her name in native language.
Even i cant change it.
Currently, I was asked to download, fill and upload. No provision for filling the form online. Also, only the applicant form is required to fill.

As of now, only the PA forms are digital. Sponsors forms must be downloaded and filled in pdf and uploaded back onto the portal.

8. Additional Family Information (IMM 5406)
The following person(s) must fill out their own copy of this form when applying online: You (the principal applicant), and any of your family members 18 years of age or older (who are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents).
The sponsors information not need to be filled if he is a PR

As the instruction says, fill the form for each dependent 18 years of age or older.
So you should fill this for your wife alone (if your kid is not 18 years or older)

@@canadadreamers_Thanks for your reply, I already applied under that mentioned pathway on my own with the help of couple of videos like yours then I recently got cancelled my application from the irrc portal with message of not fulfilling the information on imm 5604 , now I realize that I did not add my spouse family information separately, if you don’t mind give your personal mail I’d so that I can share my refusal letter then you can give a guidance it will help lot personally and financially, thank you 🙏🙏🙏

When including additional information for forms, should we mention all these points in the letter of explanation, or should we create a separate document for each form?

You can create a common letter of explanation, and mention all the additional information about the forms. Be clear about the form number, section number, part number, question number, etc.

In our area, we use dad's name as surname.
My parents don't have/used surnames, what should we enter in the form..My dads and mom's name is XXXXX in my passport without surname. What should i enter in this form now? And they don't have a passport.Kindly help.

Hello thanks for watching. I think there was an option earlier for deceased people. And for email, i think you can give any other ID and mention that in letter of explanation separately.

I forgot to fill out the Principal Applicant's name in my native language and the form is now saved. I'm trying to change it but there is no option to add or edit. The name section is greyed out. Is there a way to add a name in my native language once the form is saved and ready to submit or do I have to start the new application? Please reply

Hello thanks for watching. These forms need to be filled out for PA as well as any other family members who are 18 years of age or older. (PA can fill the info on their behalf). I think you need add your children here if they are also included in your application to become the PR. But please confirm.
I have not filled any child details anywhere in my forms so please also consult with someone else as well.

Hi, mention as much as you can in your native language. Dont skip this. Include the full name in native language in a separate letter of explanation. (just mention the form/section/part/question number)

When completing the imm 5406 form and I'm only sending for my mom. She is going to sign. My question is, my mother has 6 adult children who she's also going to list as her children. Will they have to fill out their individual form and hand sign?
No, if children are not coming to canada, then No. they dont need to fill anything, only your mom will complete the form and fill the children details in the single form.

Hi all, my application get returned because i dont put NA for the children part and now when i refill it, it shows Ready to Submit but other forms all are marked as "Complete". is it ok for me to submit or not? thanks
Should you write NA the name space only or every space in the children part like address date of birth etc

Hi, I am filling the downloaded form and it is showing the option for validate but nothing is happening, do we gave to validate that form because at the bottom it is also showing the option for signatures. So, i am soo confused with this thing

I think validation is only required for imm1344. And you need to fill all the details first then only you can validate the form.

Hello, thanks for watching. I think passport address should be good. They don't send anything on the address nor they do such verification as far as I know.
Giving the passport's address would make it easy to verify addresses.
But it's your call, this is just my opinion. I am not any licensed agent or visa officer. I have just shared our experience in these videos.

Hi, even I am having the same issue. Spouse section is not visible. My Husband forgot to write his name in the native script and now it is not letting him edit it. Does anyone how to edit principal applicant name on IMM 5406? Thanks

@@rohitnaidu8366 This makes sense that spouse does not need to fill a new copy of this form, but adding spouse information on Principal Applicant's form is still the question as the section disappeared!

Physically not present means your marriage was done online or without meeting each other, and ircc do not recognize such marriages.
So please select married and physically present.

Yes you can add the names, they dont ask for any proof for the parents parents name. Just write the names as asked.

You should provide her current address. As this is an inland application.

Currently, there is no provision for filling online. The only option is to download, fill and upload.

I have to come alone to canada and I am. Single. Should I fill information of all family members? Who is considered my family members? My parents or siblings too? My siblings are married
Yes your parents and siblings.
What if you forget to add some siblings in section c and successfully send to ircc what should do?
Oops. I think this means you cannot sponsor that sibling in the future. It may also considered as misrepresentation.
I am not licensed person. So i don’t know exactly what should be done now. You may raise a webform i guess with letter of explanation. When you apply for any visa for your parents in the future (visit visa or super visa), you need to fill sibling details there. Hope this helps.

So you are the one who sponsered your wife .. meaning principle applicant is your wife .. and she provid her siblings with information. Am i right ?

Its okay, but creating an email doesn't take much time. You can create one for her, and you maintain that for a while. However they don't send anything on mother's email ID.

my lawyer had done a blunder in our application he write my child name wrong in imm5406 forum but in other forums he wrote right name and passport photo is also right pls suggest me what can i do i am very tensed right now will my application be rejected what should i do
You can raise a webform and inform IRCC about this mistake. Attach the proofs again.
Worst case is IRCC may return the application and ask you to correct this detail.
Make sure your lawyer keeps checking any updates on your profile.

Hello, you need to fill the details of your siblings and parents. If siblings and parents are not coming to canada, they dont have to fill the forms individually.
I am not sure under which program you are applying for the visa, so please check the details from someone else too.

If your Brother is PR in Canada, and lives in Canada, then please provide his Canadian address. IRCC will already has all his information. So you shouldn't hide anything. This is my understanding. There should not be any harm providing his Canadian address.

@@tarandeepsingh4920 i dont think so. If your brother has PR, that doesn't mean that you cannot get PR. If your marriage is genuine, and your spouse has valid PR, then he/she can sponsor you without any issue.
You need to focus on how you can prove your marriage genuine.

In my opinion if the dependent is less than 18 years old that the parent can fill the application but if she is 17, she can also sign. Just my thinking. But not sure.
