I was so jealous watching you look around that shale pit. Just so many good looking trees for your collection. Great video and very relaxing to watch. Thanks James
I don't comment much on the videos I watch, subscribe and LIKE, and I do that on ALL your videos James. Well done...I feel like you take my blood pressure down about 20 points listening and watching your videos...and that's a compliment. WELL DONE.
This vid was really helpful thanks. I have just managed to get permission to collect in the new year from three quarries near me here in the north of england. Already got my eye on a few scots pines, a massive gnarled hawthorn and a stunted little twisted old oak that looks awesome. Take care.
That first tree looks like a nice Charlie Brown Christmas tree. You just need the Charlie Brown gang around the tree at Christmas time. Cool little tree.
To me, at least on camera, the second tree is the best. Who cares about my opinion… they all look great! Looking forward to seeing the Azalea in bloom!
Sir, beautiful trees you got congratulations,, Could you please reply following How long if roots are dried won't be dead Which nutrient a bonsai lover must have to feed weak and dying trees to rejuvenate em again Thanks a lot for producing a wonderful videos sir,, ❤
I live just a short walk from this shale pit I use a rubber tub with some water in it so the roots never dry out and I only collect after a good rain I use miracle grow for fertilizer
I can't believe you just pulled the tree with one hand and intact root system. Looks so easy. In my area soo rocky with long runners which usually barely have fine roots. I'm always afraid of tree survival.
don't cut of the bottom branches till you feed it an get it back to health takes about 5 years they thicken the trunk, now if you feed it heavy the branches will thicken and the taper will inverse in about 8-10 years
That seems really cruel to continue. I guess we didn’t learn anything from the Japanese. They have emptied their Forrest of all Yamadori. You immediately start pruning as it wasn’t enough to rip them out of the ground. You probably kill a lot of trees. Stop bragging about the amount you bring home. Most of us don’t agree with your glutney approach to bonsai.
You should try to cultivate yourself a little and even a lot when it comes to bonsai! Stop picking all the time... You don't have the right technique... Half of your trees are destined to die... You don't know how to prune, you don't know how to shape a tree, you don't know pot them up. You certainly love what you do but your crude manner has nothing to do with the art of bonsai. Try to only make one tree so you can take good care of it!

As usual James a real haul from the shale pit. I was drooling over those Birch trees.

Nice little trees. The snow really insulated them from the harsh cold weather. Snow does make a good insulator. Nice collection of trees for you.
Man what a nice collecting spot! Thanks for sharing.
Tree 2 is cool in the rectangle pot. Nice trunk and the moss looks good around the tree.
I like how the trunk was bent on the little spruce you pulled up in the beginning, many possibilities.
It’s the snow that does that we had a lot this year cheers
As I said before you are blessed to have such an amazing Yamadori options 🤤
Great video James
That stone pit is awesome wish I had one near me like that James
Good luck with them 👊👊
Tree 3 reminds me off a Giant Sequoia in the rectangle box by itself. Nice little tree.
Wow, I'm jealous. Such a nice collection. Congratulations.
I’m lucky to have many places around me here to look for these trees good luck in your search and good luck 👍

Wow. Really wish I had a shale pit!
Thanks for sharing. Please keep them coming.
Jay mentioned your channel, so I came to snoop. Not disappointed! Great finds!
To me, at least on camera, the second tree is the best. Who cares about my opinion… they all look great! Looking forward to seeing the Azalea in bloom!
Love a good collection vid and first processing - great work

Great finds!!
I would love to have one of those Birch trees. What a beautiful place to go tree hunting.
Nice to see you’re in the maritimes! I’m in New Brunswick and just started looking for places to pick trees

What state is that ? Amazing yamadoris
Nova Scotia Canada 🇨🇦
Wow! How much do you water these once planted?
They get water everyday the soil drains well
I heard that having moss near the base of the tree could potentially rotten it. Have you experienced such issue?
I’ve never had any problems with moss
Prize of the day is right. Excellent!
Fantastic finds James! Now, where is the nearest shale pit? 😆
Que lugar incrível!!
It looks like the shell pit makes a good starter bonsai soil. The trees grow nice in it. How many trees are you allowed to pull out of the pit?
Nobody cares about these trees no limit
I can't believe you just pulled the tree with one hand and intact root system. Looks so easy. In my area soo rocky with long runners which usually barely have fine roots. I'm always afraid of tree survival.
You have a nice hoop house for your trees.
Seems like you're just using generic potting soil and not bonsai soil mix. Have you experienced root rot problems?
It’s tree compost perlite and peat moss I’ve never had any problems with moss
I have over 300 trees in this mix all happy
Nice. The shale pit is a wonderful natural nursery for Bonsai. I would love to feature one on my channel. Any chance of that? Unpotted of course.
Sure how would we do that
Cảm ơn bạn chia sẽ kinh nghiệm ❤❤❤❤
Creo que morí y vos fuiste al cielo
Sir to you Sell some of your Yamadori Trees to the Public?
Yes I sell trees but I don’t ship them pic up only
don't cut of the bottom branches till you feed it an get it back to health takes about 5 years they thicken the trunk, now if you feed it heavy the branches will thicken and the taper will inverse in about 8-10 years
no bags for the roots...
check yamasibon kiwa or yamadori
It’s just a short walk back home for me the roots don’t have time to dry out
A tree spa at bonsai by the sea!
kirim dong satu ke indonesia 😂😂😂😂😂
Personally I’d be leaving stubs for jins
I might try that in the future thanks 🙏 for the advice
😮😮😮😮😮
Why take them out You should train them out there.
Thanks 🙏 for watching
Permission to share, boss

Sei una bestia......sembra che stai raccogliendo delle carote!!!
Non è un buon modo per raccogliere in natura .....come on!!!
Thanks for watching
Please respect Nature and leave those beautiful plants there, where they were. Those plants own to we all, are not of your own property. Bad behaviour
Your missing the point this isn’t nature it’s a man made disaster I’m giving these trees a better life
