You uploaded this 7 years ago so Idk if you see this but thank you so much man. Ive been stuck on this part for a while and youre like the only person who has a walkthrough that is worded good, simply put, and very helpful. Thank you so much man! You should do some walkthroughs on other games too. You're really helpful and Don't over explain or underexplain. You're great at walkthroughs and commentary man!
The first time that i entered that switch room, i turned on everything. Of course, i died in seconds. lol
See, I do that in a big trap room to try to get a big infight on. lol
More like "Well of Holes", amirite?
That was an awesome trick using the crushers to kill the Chaingunners and the Baron. I always used to just fight through them. Did not know about shooting the console to reveal the bridge posts either. This was very informative.
The crushers took me totally by surprise the first time I met them. I went up the stairs a bit and turned around and thought, "WTF?!".
"A Chaingunner in the floor" Man! that's a new one for me I never seen that happen at all in any doom game..... except in PS1 Doom when a Pain Elemental (Armed Potato) explodes and one of the lost soul gets stuck in the walls
The area with the invisible bridge if u just step on the wall slowly right before it closes up and locks u in and fall backwards quickly then just re lower the wall and it will stay down making it easier killing the enemies alot easier :)
+Kirsty Smith You saved me pointing that out, thanks. :)
I try to infight the revenants with the cacodemons.
I never get the infighting to work there, so I just lure the cacodemons to me and dispose of them first.
I found that out by accident. But I didn't realise about the 'invisible bridge!!!!' until I cam here to figure how to finish the level.
@@gabrieleriva651 Every time I've tried that the revenants will rocket me to death before the cacos have a chance to show up.
6:33 A hint for the closing wall, as it starts to close IMMEDIATELY back through it back into the passageway then open it again and it should now stay open. Makes this section a TON easier.
That invisible bridge... somehow it reminds us of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Oh yeah, and Dark Halls from Doom is back! Sweet! Whoa! You got a homing missile to to your face and almost died that time! Kinda sweet how you lured the enemies into the crushing ceiling traps you escaped from. Oh, and the weird, small chaingunner on the floor... it's as if the floor itself is invisible while he's underneath it. But whatever. So nice! :)
Another great tutorial series from BMD! These are really excellent, as i am watching these after my own playthrough and learning what tricks i missed.
Thank you soooo much!
Your walkthroughs helped me many times.
Ha that chaingunner at the end is like "Screw you, physics! I do what I want."
Never gets old watching a bmd walk though, been watching your channel for years, I know I’ve mentioned this before but if you ever get a chance check out the doom wad arrival, it’s an excellent wad to play. Thanks for reading my friend.
I like the attention to detail with the waterfalls. Looks very nice
This great map is a proof that the Casali bros were big fan of Indiana Jones movies :).
I don't know why, but I was already subscribed to your channel, but when I finished watching this walkthrough I had to re-subscribe. Thanks for the post!
Very cool map, and difficult in some spots
Yes the fireballs from the revanent's do home in on you. In an open area they will keep chaseing you. Get to a wall or other obstacle and just before it hits you side step it and it will hit the wall and not you.
Only every second Revenant rocket or so seems to do that! I think BigMacDavis was more surprised at the sharp arc it took from a standing start :P
The invisible bridge area is rather nasty! I also like the switch area, where all the dud switches actually hold lost souls behind them!
The chaingunner in the floor in the exit room was also a rather weird thing.......
Cute profile pic, what is it?
invisible bridge is from Indiana Jones :D
U really had a cool moves there. The way u dealt with the chainguners & the baron of hell down there & 3 imps with 1 shot from the super shotgun. The chainguner in the floor was a bag probably. I just check this video 2 see that i don't miss anything & so far i didn't. But thank u anyway. Cause i learned from u a lot.
Quickly cross back over the rising wall. It will go back into the floor and won't rise again. The only way I managed to survive that area.
@3:53 After switching the last switch in the hallway, don't fall down but lure the chaingunners near you, then walk back a bit and fire rockets to the left and right wall to kill them. Then run like BMD demonstrated. Saves health!
That would work. Thanks.
I fought in the hole, killed them all, hell night surprised me, but got him without taking a hit, just startled, though the hall of crush got me, was not expecting that, I watch you videos at the exit door to make sure I get the secrets, Sorta feel like I will need the items in them, if only cuz I suck, I am still playing it blind, just want all secrets.
Also glad to see a brony doing such a nice walkthrough, sad no secrets in this one though. >_>
I never knew that control panel was there. I thought the area was suppose to be an Indiana Jones reference with the invisible bridge. The first time I played this level, I got confused, ran into the pit, found an invisible wall, and finally "got it" .
when you were fighting those caco's in that tricky invisible bridge area, your chain gun bullets briefly stopped at 69 bullets
Revenant rocket at 5:05: If it has a gray trail behind it, it is a homing rocket. If not, it's a regular one. The regular ones are easy to dodge; the homing ones SUCK!
muchas gracias , nos ayudaste a pasar a mi y mi hijo
in the invisible brigde room, i fight sometimes the cacodemons from the red door alkove.
it provides little cover
That's very smart. :)
I just had a chaingunner glitch (at the end) on my walkthrough. I was playing through GZDoom and he was invisible, probably inside the floor like in your video and of course he killed me because I couldn't find him (I couldn't even see him in the texture like you did). I saved my game before the bridge part, and oddly enough, when I reloaded and done this part again, he was visible. I was like: "Am I blind? He was there all the time!" But apparently not, lmao.
No, sometimes they CAN be invisible. It sucks.
hey, hey, hey,BMD,you got it really well handled, I'm done with those four revenent.😮😮😮
1:45 I call them "shy knights."
You're a life saver!!!
4:54. Revnant rocket so powerful, when the character got hit, BIG MAC DAVIS EVEN FELT IT. NOW THATS HOW DOOM IS MEANT TO BE BBBBOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
6:30 if you block the wall you can stop it from closing behind you
no wonder i was stuck here.
i couldnt even finish it now, and to then findout that i had to do all of this to finish this level, hahahah
Dark Halls : The best soundtrack in gaming history!
I love your Doom walkthroughs, will you play through Doom No Rest For The Living?
I loved No Rest For The Living!
He has an Ultimate Doom walkthrough. All four chapters.
"have your rocket launcher ready" i would love to, unfortunately i do not possess one
Lol at the Hellknight from the front + Spectre from the back sandwich e.e
1st time i thappened to me to the weird chaingunner in the floor
It's the oddest thing seeing him down there. It also happens again (sometimes) in Go 2 It, but this time with a Revenant.
+BigMacDavis It looked like a tiny chaingunner toy. In fact, there needs to be a cacademon plushy toy. :)
I'm going to assume that was a glitch from the ZDoom port? Not sure that happens in the official DOS version, or the Doom95 port, though.
@@ChrisJones-cb6yl it's a Mini Gunner!
I just beat TNT. Looking at this hurts. I'm done for the day. Happy New year bmd
Map 2 "Well of Souls" by Dario. I don't like neither the lost souls trap and the concept of the invisible bridge, and it's used again afterwards
2:54 jay yay yay!!
I always wondered why the Hell Knights say "Alan" when they die...maybe they blame Alan for their deaths?
That was cool
I liked this map. I'm not really sure why. Maybe it's the abundance of water. I know you like red maps, but it's good to have a nice, refreshing blue map sometimes. Heretic has a lot of maps like that. Of course, Heretic isn't hellish like Doom is. :)
Lost Soul Hole, would be a cool band name.
nice work
good old days back then
If you are not using a ZDoom type source port just skip the lost souls switch because you get no items from it and lost souls don't count towards the kill percentage.
First time playing these maps and this level is fucking insane on this difficulty
I've always has a lot of trouble with this map. In my opinion this one is one of the hardest to use without cheats, especially in the stairs with the crushing ceiling.
i've noticed that these maps have ultimate doom music in them
Matt: get zdoom from zdoom.org it has in-game customizeable controls. Find the WADs (i.e. doom.wad, doom2.wad, tnt.wad and plutonia.wad) in your Steam folder, so C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\ and then some folder with the word doom in it, copy them over to the zdoom folder and you'll be able to play them.
Sorry I can't be more specific about finding the WADs, I'm actually old enough to own the original games, so I don't have doom in my Steam library.
07:30 oh look, a mini-gunner (:
2 hellknights stuck, reminds me of E6M10 of wolf3d with the mutants. You took a rocket during this map, that remind me when you did that with a chaingunner and said " eat my rocket sucker. " Payback's a bitch, lol. The end screen is red, so the results were camouflaged, that's neat. Way to go Jeff, keep on rocking!
6:38 The Last Crusade refference XD (7:26 tricky tongue please stop!! jajajaj)
In those two holes in the wall at the start of the map, are there no items to pick up inside them? I couldn't help but notice that you bypassed entering into them.
I played this back when it was a new release. If memory serves, I bought a CD-ROM of fan-made WADs at a retailer like Best Buy or some similar store. Goodness knows what happened to it. And while I have Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 3 on my current Windows computer, I have no idea who play other wads. LOL, someone, please, tell me what to do! Anyway, BigMac, your vids always deliver.
There is nothing in those holes. I remember checking before recording this Walkthrough, lol.
6:29 Nah,if you stand on the wall it opens up again. But you have to be fast.
No secrets in this map.
if you stand on the wall when it tries to close, it just completely breaks, allowing you to go back in. Either this is a bug in the map or the version of plutonia I'm playing is fucked up
You say that you've never seen a chain gunner in the floor before? In one of those 'Other' thousands of pwads on the Master Levels for Doom2. There is a Pwad named hellbell.wad Which in one area of the Map intentionally uses that very Map effect apparently. The wad also uses the MIDI version of Carol of the Bells for it's soundtrack.
i purchased the doom complete pack recently. every game uses the mouse for movement and i cant change it. anyone have any idea? steamgames
Wow thanks so much - who would have know to shoot the control panel to get an INVISIBLE bridge?
BigMacDavis is the best
If you hate lost souls now, wait till you play doom 3. I actually think they get even more annoying in that game. Then there are the cherubs, (shudder) the bane of my existence. X(
I totally agree!! Thank goodness for God-Mode!
I just went through the first two maps and got all the secrets but at the end it still tells me 0%?? Anyone else having this issue? I play through Steam
Actually, Melanie, there are no secrets in this map, and what's happening is your Steam version treats 0 secrets as 0%. But that's typical of a lot of versions - my version, ZDoom, takes 0 secrets and applies 100% to it. So you didn't miss anything.
What was up with the mini chaingunner in the floor? haha xD
They can suffer longer if you grab a berserker and start punching em. You hear the whine and it takes a good 3-5 hits
BigMacDavis1: "there's a hole there, and a hole there"
Me: "that's what she said", =D
Playing it through steam and there's another switch on the other side of the same ledge as the red switch but idk what it opens up and there's no secrets in this level so it said 0% when I finished the level
Yup, 0% secrets because there are no secrets. Steam treats 0 secrets as 0%.
BigMacDavis ok and what about the first level I got all of the items but it said 0% when I finished the level is it a glitch or something?
5:05 I agree!
no secrets in this map?
Revenant on the stairs is easy. lure him on the part of the stairs in line with you, and shoot a couple rockets. He can't dodge because there isn't any side movement. I fucking hate revenants. Everything about them sucks. But... I guess that's a good thing. :P
5:09 I'm so attentive 🤦♂
Now I Feel OCD. I Played This Map, And It Tells Me I Need To Find 2 Secrets. Timestamps, Please?
Just check the Doomwiki
@@vga1232 Done. The Secrets Are Rather Cryptic.
use your supershotgun more!
I really don't see how you see Plutonia Experiment as the one with "fair challenge" and no bad maps, while saying TNT Evilution is unfair with things like Mount Pain or complaining about the puzzle of the hidden path at the beginning of the final level there. I don't feel that way whatsoever. All of Plutonia is about knowing the dangers in advance or being a seer or else it's absolutely deadly, while most of TNT Evilution could be played at leisure, exploring and dealing with the challenge as it comes. This map you're playing also comes up with ridiculous "puzzles" like invisible bridge, where shooting a computer is needed for a hint, while you're being attacked mercilessly. Plutonia IS unfair and confusing. I still like playing it personally, but maybe that's because I find dying over and over again some kind of a learning experience and I like the challenge even then. But I just can't agree it's that good and fair.
That's a good explanation of each wad. Each one has it's own personality.
I know youre gonna poopoo this comment, bigmac, but based on the sound they make when they get hurt, I actually kinda feel bad for the pain elementals
It sounds like someone saying "Ow"
not unless you use the IDCLIP cheat
doom is actually 2D, don't believe me look it up
Ty Watson No one cares.
The maps are almost 3d, and the sprites are 2d. It's not all 2d.
That's a glitch
hahahahahahaha
I hate this map so much.
Why ?
@@ahmadbassam2898 I had so many rough experiences with this one in particular when trying to 100% it on UV. Most of my experiences were not very good. The Invisible Bridge section is one of the main reasons why I heavily dislike this map.
@@Dan-bz2nh you can block the wall behind you know ?
@@ahmadbassam2898 it's easier said than done my friend cauz you have to be very Quick to do so
@@barbariangamer6209 yeah it's quite a bitch , when you don't save in the middle of the game, at least the level is short .
