Have a '93 non-turbo 7.3, the speedometer kept fluctuating/bouncing. Disconnected the abs wiring (located behind the glove compartment/abs module) and the problem went away. Yes, no longer abs brakes, then again, abs wasn't all that good back in 1993! No more speedometer fluctuating/bouncing. These trucks are in the 30-year old range now, they have a right to have some things not working all that good anymore! BUT...they are well worth restoring/bringing back up to good working order. So simple the 7.3 idi diesel engines are and will last longer than most of us will, if good maintenance is maintained. Yes, even changing out the abs sensor on the rear differential (tried 2 different new ones) did not help. Disconnecting abs wiring behind the glove box is what corrected the situation.

You forgot checking the core support for cracks along the top, under the rubber deflector strips between the header panel and support and the rot at the mounts. Mostly cracks tho
So a few things, things that I had to find out the hard way over the years that people seem to ask a lot on the 7.3 OBS pages.
How to remove the rear door glass (what a fun one that was to learn)
Door lock actuators and options for replacing
Inspecting the wiring between the doors in situations where the windows work either intermittently or from the door but not the master switch or vice versa. I’ve bought a few trucks that were really worked and used with broken wires in the doorjam loom where it opens and closes a lot
I think a black bezel with the wood trim would be more than appropriate for that truck, in my opinion Atleast. The Centaurus truck I gutted was the same way

Sometimes if your speedometer is bouncing, or your truck is shifting in, and out of gears. It probably means your vehicle speed sensor, is going bad. Which is located on the top of the rear axle. Sometimes the overdrive would flash, but for me, it wasn't.

This is why I will never ever buy an OBS Ford with an Automatic Transmission. My 1986 has 74,455 original miles on it. But the original owner let i sit in a barn in Idaho for 15 years. So I ended up rebuilding the 460 Carb Motor. And now it's a 468 with Forged ICON Pistons, Eagle H-Beam 7/16 connecting Rods and 1969 429 DOVE-C heads on it. It's a 4x4. I am going to paint it. All in all she's a fantastic Truck. I've had several of them. I will never have anything else.

I sold my last OBS ford in 06. Now my oldest son is 10, so i have 5 or 6 years to do a light restoration on an OBS.
I never considered it much before used and new truck prices started getting stupid. Honestly, if i can pick up a truck for $10k, then put $10k into it.... damn it, i am excited.

I've got a 95 F250 with a C6, three speed transmission and I so badly want to swap it for something with more gears, but the local transmission shop said it would be too much work. So aggravating at highway speeds. I'm in third gear by 30mph.....

I am definitely interested in the brake booster/master cylinder and recalled harness. I don’t know if I have the new harness on my 95 f250. I have an intermittent brake light that comes and goes enough though fluid is topped off. Not an abs light though. Hiss sound from booster and soft pedal. Just put new vacuum pump following a failure with a broken serpentine belt. I’m really looking forward to this series. Goal is to get my ride reliable and then upgrades injectors and such. Thanks for your time

We did a rear differential service video and while we were bleeding the system I went ahead and cleaned out the fluid reservoir. We still need to replace the booster and add the recall harness which we'll do in an upcoming video.

So we did another video on the servicing of the rear diff, we some water intrusion and caused some rust issues. After talking with the owner we decided to clean it up the best we could and check it out in about a month. After cleaning the speed sensor and tone ring I noticed it helped a bunch on the bouncing. We'll see when we open it up again if I can clean a little more rust off the tone ring or we may just replace the axle. I'd say 80% of the bounce went away with what we've done so far.

My 7.3 has a oil cooler leak. I need to replace the seals at a minimum. Would you recommend replacing the cooler too? Also I haven't done it before, heard it's a pain. I do all the repairs on my truck myself but I don't have a lift to do it. What are your thoughts?

Howdy and thanks for sharing the video, its great. I own a 1996 F350 xlt OBS with 7.3 power stroke. Same body style as the one your inspecting here. I love my truck. It too has a few Roll-A-Long items on it. In cab there's the switches marked: DRIVING, RUNNING, AUXILIARY then theres an additional toggle switch. Not suse what that does. Will have figure it out.
