The caster set looks the best with this coat, I wish healers got it as well. Still, the healer one looks decent, and it's not robes for once so that's a win.
Looks like the Fending, Striking, Casting, Scounting, and Aiming sets are the True 1 to 1 AA sets from XI, Maiming and Healing get a mixed set. Further, AA sets are the XI Monthly Login Campaign Exclusives. Nice timing honestly.
My guess is that they would’ve gone with the usual path of making maiming and fending extra armored, and striking would get something lighter, but among the actual ark angels, the one that wears the heavy armor is a samurai, because that was more of a thing with xi samurai than xiv samurai, so they were kinda obligated to

Their artifact armors in FFXI are more armorish in comparison to FFXIV, and that's probably why they designed the Galka Samurai ark angel to wear more armorish stuff.
It is because each Ark Angel represents two jobs instead of one. Ark Angel GK is Samuari/Dragoon, which is why it is more armorish to pay homage to Drg. Ark Angel HM is Ninja/Warrior, which is why you see the dual wield and perfect for scouting. Ark Angel MR is Beastmaster/Thief, which I guess they use as aiming as it is supposed to be light gears. Ark Angel EV is Paladin/Whitemage hence the light cloth with a shield. Ark Angel TT is Dark Knight/Blackmage, so the robe and casting set.
Some of these are far better than others of these sets. As a main caster I am very sad to say that the caster set is by far the worst. Some of the others are good but none of these are really great. The raid battles in themselves was very fun so they did that very well!

I don't know if anyone noticed, but there is a rigging issue with the fending headgear from this raid. We found this out yesterday when my friend and I ran it upon patch release, he won the headpiece for his paladin, and the moment he put it on and started talking in party chat, he notice that the whole helmet moves horrifyingly in sync with the bottom jaw. For reference, he plays a female au ra. I don't know if other races are affected by it. I'm hoping it's just with the fending headpiece, but if it's like this with the other headpieces, that's some impressive QA that SE missed in testing.
Sounds like someone accidentally connected it to the jawbone than the head. A weird error but could easily happen depending on the process they use to make/implement new items.
hope they do something more interesting with the other raids in this series. There look to be a couple good pieces but nothing Id go out of my way for.

They still can redesign them to be more modern and appealing for the modern audience... But they always choose the easier option , copy paste. Probably the very reason they did Ff11 for the raids, easy to implement no effort work. They do that a lot lately.

I agree. A lot of the sets have forced red/greens that make dyeing them extremely limited. I love a lot of the Artifact gear sets, but everything else has been meh. The raid sets are atrocious.

......the fact they're releasing hats two races can't wear continues to be ridiculous. We understand maybe not having the time for the older stuff but especially when they keep making hats as achievement rewards and now the outfit ready glamour system, which means for Viera and Hrothgar they might need to get hats they can't even USE to save space, it's just ridiculous to not ensure EVERY race can wear new hats. Admittedly I get annoyed they'll give Hrothgar ears poking through and then hide Miqo's(I know it's fiction, but where do my ears go??? If they're folded down that's a)denying me a good part of one of my senses and b) painful af I HAVE cats that isn't natural to do for a long period of time.)but at least the Hrothgar have a hat in those moments....just ridiculous.

I don't think the two of you know how 3D works. Reusing concepts? Sure. But 3D modeling and texturing absolutely doesn't work the way you seem to assume it works.

And this was true for the entire raid series... Here what you see is some very low effort, low budget work with reused shit... It is because of FFXI gear rules. Samurai could wear some of the heaviest armor and the Galka Ark Angel is a Samurai+Dragoon. So the FFXIV devs went Samurai > Striking. Meanwhile, the FFXI Paladin+White Mage rep wore a robe top. Once again, they just did Paladin > Fending.

In FFXI, the Galka Ark Angel was a Samurai and Dragoon. Samurai could wear fairly heavy amor. Monk and Reaper are just along for the ride.

They are from Jeuno the First Walk, a level 100 raid in FFXIV Dawntrail. Currently, you can get one piece of equipment per week.
