If anything i'd love for them to at least have designs chosen based on the bottom of the partition wall designs. Like the stone or the other various regional designs. That would be perfect honestly.
The Dev team did mention that in a future update, possibly, they'll implement the ability to resize the interior from a small-med-large for houses via gil payment. Now we just have to hope they actually do it.
My only wish now is that they also do this for apartment & especially fc rooms to match with the rest. That way, it would be much easier to at least, get a chance to freely design your room and not needing so many fakewalls to hide the pillars
They'll make a forest design interior-- with waterfalls, crystals, mist, daytime/nightime scenery effects... a rain version.... caves.... OooOo. A desert theme, where the floor is sand. They'll make one where you feel like you're in the clouds! And you'll see it turn from day to night. Remember the themed walls in animal crossing (on switch) ? they had walls that were animated. I suspect they will have animated walls and flooring... as well as integrating outdoor/indoor furniture so you can put more trees inside. And even more advanced, they'll have styles that let you feel like you're in a dungeon (like the one where you fight titania outside in the forest) and you'll feel like you're outside. Stuff like that. It'll be so cool! May it be affordable and easy to get. WOOo!
I manifest they will add a forest themed layout =) So far I've predicted a new grass rug, the country house, wall cabinet (I needed it to create the boiler room for spirited away so I manifested that) as well as the branch with lanterns (I draw them a lot and wanted to recreate my paintings) and countless other things. What do you want to see? I will manifest that next.
The options are A) Have pillars, and normal walls B) Have no pillars, more room, but now you're stuck with ugly white stripes you have to cover up leaving you wiiith.... ...the same amount of space as before. nevermind that the housing wizards often turn medium plots into the size of half a small but with great detail and you dont notice the walls or pillars regardless.. ..mgh.. not really too sure on it unless you are planning from the start to keep those ugly strips as part of your design
My med is in LB. 300/300 slots, all three floors are FULLY used, and I get from everyone that happens to pop in whether it's randos or friends, they are always surprised by how large the space feels even with all the slots filled. People that close everything off, while make some great designs, feels like a let down especially when it's a large and all they have is 30% of the main floor on display, and nothing else.
I think this is an amazing first step into this new feature. Im certain that either more interior variations will be added or we'll get the ability to dye interior features or switch them up like wallpaper, lightings etc. Im going to wait until the interior size upgrade is added before trying this out. The minimal medium looks amazing. Not certain if i like the large. Hopefully i can find one in game to check out first hand.
My problem with this new style is that the base/crown borders can't be dyed & are monstruously large - makes them horrible for people like me who use dark aesthetics in their mansion.
LOVE the off the cuff style, it's really awesome to hear how a pro designer processes and thinks 😊❤❤❤ this change is SO amazing, and thank you for all your great housing videos!
Yeah my friend decorates my house and its a personal small so I don't have to worry about extra doors. The matching thing is because of the texture mats they use. Yoshi esplained it when showing off dual dye channels.
This is so awesome. 30% of my item limit was spent trying to mask the awkward pillars, stairs and walls of the old layout. I guess now the challenge becomes trying to come up with a design that can work with the wallpaper not covering the entire wall and the undyeable stair railings, forcing you into a build that is aesthetically bright in color. Actually the more i think about it i probably wont be using the new style.
Besides undyable white borders.... I dislike the staircase rails and probably all the rails... why can't they be plain like shiro style. no rail at all.... but it's a step in the right direction. Finally. After almost a decade. *cough*
I had so much fun with this new style in both my personal small and our med fc house!!! Combined with the storage placement it made with so much freedom of arrangement! I dont mind the white once the house is fulling decorated and i am sure they will add matching partitions now its well received in game! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜😊 Cant wait to see what a seasoned decorator such as yourself does with these!😊
I will definitely be using it in my design in my small home because i love the idea of creating the illusion of there being open space. I have a small and my first floor has some whatever they're called, I'm blanking out, but the screens that show specific areas around the maps. I have those set up so it looks like the top floor is a garden. I feel like the minimalist style just opens up SO much opportunities with that. 😍😍😍
Phasmascapes! I can't wait to see all the creative possibilities with the more space ^^ I'm just a bit sad we can't colour the white, as it doesn't really match my witch's cottage lol 😅
@AGrumpyWitch that's the word!!!! I totally blanked out on what they were called and hoped everyone understood what I meant. 😂 and I am also a little sad that the trim can't be dyed, and I really hope it becomes a feature later on. But at least I can make it work for my main WoL since her color scheme is red and white. 😁
Like everything with this game, with this dev team, it's a monkey's paw scenario. Yes, the minimalist style makes the room bigger, but, it's wholly like NONE of the current housing designs, which means if your interior tastes worked within the static styles that have been in this game since the inception of housing, this, just does not work. Why couldn't they also while giving this option, ALSO just allowed us to pick and remove pillars from the current interiors? I have a med in LB, there are maybe 2-3 pillars in places I'd remove because my interior takes into account that LB look. But I can't and the minimalist look would NOT work with it, especially those stairs. If this works for your style, I'm happy for you, really I am. But this whole change for a wide range of us, was a nothing burger and yet more half meausres taken by this dev team approach.
I think that's a perfectly valid opinion to have, and I do wish they gave us the option to remove the pillars ourselves and keep the rest. Because I agree: a lot of warmth and character is lost if you opt to use the minimalist style and prefer to work with the in game architecture.
I agree with the need to dye the white, and even the stair colour too, just because it clashes so much as you said. I'm hoping they'll add this at some point, given they seem to be more focused on housing recently (or maybe it's just copium??) but you can dye the outdoor fixtures, so why not the indoor as well?
I have so much housing anxiety it's insane - I feel constantly that no matter what I will do, I will never manage to make a good looking house (ofc, somehow people still love it) but giving us new housing options is amazing! I really hope there would be more presets for different sizes - like different placement of first floor (If I don't want basement but want to have 3 story building or I wanna have a bunker or something) or different door position... that would be so cool
That *would* be cool! And I'm sorry to hear about your housing anxiety. I promise you: so long as it's a home that makes *you* happy, then screw what anyone else thinks. A good looking house is what makes you feel at home and relaxed. And if it helps my earliest stuff looked like an Ikea warehouse!
i have a bathhouse in my small FC and i'm planning to use the minimalist style to add a changing room under the staircase, which doesn't fit now with my current Shirogane small house. i'm so excited for this idea to execute it
holy crap madam. i just found your youtube channel and i'm loving it! i just switched servers to buy a medium house and the layout was kind weird... now let's do the REAL end game: housing savage! lol
Thanks so much for dopping by! :D/ I'm sorry you had to switch servers to grab a medium, BUT congrats on nabbing one! Housing Savage is 100% a *thing* but I hope you have fun building your space!
Man this is definitely giving me ideas to change my house and also my fc home. But I think I'll restrain to see what they add to it in the future. (Especially as I just finally got the fc home layout finished when dawntrail dropped) But if they really start adding more and more to housing I'll be going wild.
I want a Solution 9 theme! ^__^ And I'm looking forwards for them to implement this in apartment as well, no more moving for 500K to change the trims. I used the minimalist style in one of my houses, a small one, not quite sure how it will end up, but I'm experimenting for the moment. I'm super happy for the extra room below the stairs! I have been bitter about it for years. xD A shame the older style don't gain the same space though. As for walls that fit with minimalist... the stone partition could kind of do...
I might have to check this out. My medium Ancient-themed restaurant is due for an overhaul, and the Minimalist would make the custom booth idea I plan on using much easier to implement (and actually be able to possibly fit one more booth in) without having to compensate for exposed beams & pillars.
I greatly dislike the white. I love the removal of the pillars and opening up the underside of the stairs. But the white just kills it for me. I tend to build to the cozy/dim aesthetic with a lot of fireplaces, dark wood and dimmer lighting, and the white just doesn't work with it. They also didn't make it an option in FC personal rooms and apartments, which limits my ability to play around with designs, since those are the spaces I use to try out walls/floors and item combinations.
The main reason I went back to the glade design was the no blank partition to match the new interior design. It drove me insane not having one that matches, and I am no way dying the other partitions pure white to get it to match, I am not that rich XD
I will say, the 'they can move the stairs' bit at the end was probably even more of a big thing than we realize. Cause like, if they can move the /stairs/ like that, we could eventually get like, built in spiral staircases instead of just square ones like we have now. Imagine just having it so we have nothing but spiral staircases in one corner. Like, just the northwest corner being a spiral staircase from basement to second floor, how cool would that be?!?!? This staircase movement was them just dipping their toes in the water to see if they /could/, and now that they know that they /can/, they're gonna go Hog. Fricking. Wild. Next they'll test door placements for like the front door and the workshop, or see if they can do metal stairs and decor to match the Copied Factory stuff, or even tech-looking stuff a la Solution 9! And that's just the tip of the iceberg!
AAAHH! More SPAAACE! I am so excited for this design skin which I will definitely eventually get to use in the far distant future when my inventory--(oh, who am I kidding?). There is so much potential here! So--I love the way you did this video--the pan-arounds of the before and after really give a sense of the volume of space, and your commentary was great--if this is "off the cuff" you are doing fine--you explain things with clarity and simplicity. And your enthusiasm is contagious. I am newly motivated to level my last few jobs so I can clean out my inventory and prepare for *nothing but decorating.* When you look at the designs side by side you really do see all the character in the original skins. Even Goblet (which can frustrate to NO END) had me thinking, "You know, I never really appreciated those sandstone pillars the way I should." I hope in the future the white wainscoting and upper panels can be dyed, but there's still so much we can do. Especially with the open staircases and the under-the-stairs spaces.
I really hope that, in the future, SE lets us pick where the entrance to the interior is. In medium/large homes, I feel like the place where the entrance is kinda makes sense, but smalls are like in this very weird place, where the entrance (main room) is not only the smallest room but also the top floor, whereas the biggest room that feels like it should be the main room (since it's the biggest) it's actually the basement. Hope SE lets us change this in the future because I really enjoy small houses, the space I have is perfect for me cuz I do kinda experiment with decoration but medium/larges feel way too overwhelming for me and smalls are the right spot, but at the same time is such a bummer that the space distribution is so bad and if I had the option of having the entrance on the basement, that would be such a good QoL option. Also please add crystal/transparent partitions already pleaseeee hear me Yoshi P!!
OMG Thats the guide video I used to clean up my old medium staircase XD The trauma! XD XD XD As for the new minimalistic style. I probably wont use them flat but build walls myself. Still, no pillars anymore to worry about, and SPACE UNDER THE STAIRS! I could cry!
Luckily my house style is modern white and pink however I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it is for people who want the style but have a darker wood or stone aesthetic for their home.
I was really hoping they would allow us to just remove the pillars without changing the layout to this pure white/oak modern interior. A very "monkey's paw" update, much like the dual dye system. Surely the increased furnishing cap won't come with a catch...
I really like that format of unscripted vídeo btw! I don't mind specially if it is something that doesn't require much preparing, like updates. I feel like you need something very different when you are reviewing a home or making tutorials
There is so much more space that is very tempting to try, but it's just as you said, it's better to leave that to pro home designers for a while. Im def not a fan of that white around the house.
I reckon I won't be getting a house any time soon until there's some kind of security as I've lost 2 FC houses now because I couldn't sub in time. Despite that these changes are really great and hopefully they can bring these to apartments.
I'm sorry to hear about your FC homes. The timer is a killer and I wish we had a better system. Completely agree about extending these skins to apartments, because they deserve more attention.
Unfortunately no, and I don't understand why they didn't extend this feature to apartments. :/ Could have made it so you select the skin in the apartment lobby or something.
I appreciate the changes, but I will hold off until there are more options. I'm not a fan of this minimalist design, but I could at least make it work if we had a blank minimalist partition. I don't like to mix and match my walls too much.
I have a medium house. I don't dislike how it is now. I just don't know if I want to go through all the hassle of redecorating it. 🤔 But I think you sold me that the hassle is worth it. 😆 I just don't think I have enough storage space at the moment. So I'll have to do some creative item juggling. Probably need to finish transferring things to outfits in my glamor dresser so that frees up space there, so then I can move things off my retainers into the glamour dresser. 🫣 And I'll have to take some 360° videos of my current house setup so I can try to recreate the things I like the most.
Yeah I dunno why they didn't extend this functionality to apartments. They could have made the lobby of the apartment building you're in act the same way as your yard.
Hello Mushad! So I'm currently using what's called a Live2D model. They're definitely expensive, but that's because they use face tracking software to make the avatar move and talk. A far, FAR cheaper option are animated PNGs or even GIFs that are responsive to your voice. Look up "pngtuber" and "giftuber" to help you get started :D/
I really like the new style but personally I liked the pillar design a lot more as in esthetics and details and all. But yeah building around them is a pain. Glad they fixed that. But what I really wish for is different apartment designs with different sizes just like we have with houses. But who am I kidding - you can't bully your players into infinite subscription with apartments. So it'll probably never happen 😑 SE claims to be player friendly but in the end they still mostly care about the money. The wishes for more diverse apartments are as old as housing itself so it's obviously which interests are favored here
I cant bother with the minimalist style or any other of the future styles to come because im a hoarder too, and the fact i need 300 slots in my storage for this to even work is already too much effort. i dont know where to put another 200 items that are already in the storage. So effectively nothing changes for me.
I'm sorry to hear that. I was definitely shoving what I could into retainers and my apartment. Everything's full to bursting at this point so I'm gonna have to start deciding what's actually worth keeping for me.
Honestly the new minimalist walls not being dyeable or at least having selectable wood grains feels really half assed to me. I was hoping to get back some slots where I've put walls up to cover the paneling in my house and now that's just not happening.
My problem is still the max item limits

Luckily my house style is modern white and pink however I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it is for people who want the style but have a darker wood or stone aesthetic for their home.
I was really hoping they would allow us to just remove the pillars without changing the layout to this pure white/oak modern interior. A very "monkey's paw" update, much like the dual dye system.
Surely the increased furnishing cap won't come with a catch...
A mushroom themed interior.... Like a mushroom forest? yes please.
I really like that format of unscripted vídeo btw! I don't mind specially if it is something that doesn't require much preparing, like updates. I feel like you need something very different when you are reviewing a home or making tutorials
I appreciate the feedback! :D And you're right, there's no reason why I can't do both formats.
Now all they have to do is give us more item slots for all the extra space they gave us!!
spiral staircase would be amazing!
There is so much more space that is very tempting to try, but it's just as you said, it's better to leave that to pro home designers for a while. Im def not a fan of that white around the house.
15:20 the other change is the floor, there's no weird wooden separation in middle of it.
You're right! Good catch :D
We need the ability to change the interior of apartments as well, shouldn't be a difficult ask hopefully 😔
I want futuristic skin with elevators instead of stairs now. 😂
Completely agree about extending these skins to apartments, because they deserve more attention.
sweet! all i need is to actually get a house!
Don't do housing but was a well explained video. Somehow I just finished watching the whole thing xdd
That's okay! You're welcome here :D Glad you enjoyed the video!
Except for that giant white space on the top and bottom.
Why the bloody hell can't the devs get it thru their heads that IRL, wallpapers go floor to ceiling???
is this also for apartments or no?
Unfortunately no, and I don't understand why they didn't extend this feature to apartments. :/ Could have made it so you select the skin in the apartment lobby or something.
I appreciate the changes, but I will hold off until there are more options. I'm not a fan of this minimalist design, but I could at least make it work if we had a blank minimalist partition. I don't like to mix and match my walls too much.
That is perfectly valid. I genuinely don't get why they don't just release the blank partitions with the house interiors. They do this every time.
What they should change about Large Houses is the enormous gaping hole in the 2nd floor. Tons of space wasted.
Absolutely agree. I get the aesthetic but it would be nice to have a skin that gives us that option
🫣 And I'll have to take some 360° videos of my current house setup so I can try to recreate the things I like the most.
hmm, seems to not work in FC rooms sadly, just tried it.
Yeah I dunno why they didn't extend this functionality to apartments. They could have made the lobby of the apartment building you're in act the same way as your yard.
It's too modern for me :c
I want a minimalist style (as in removing the pillars), but medieval style.
That sounds *lovely* and I hope they'll let us do that at some point.
More space but no slots 😢
why the completly washed out wood color tho :/
how do i make a talking avatar?
So it'll probably never happen 😑
SE claims to be player friendly but in the end they still mostly care about the money. The wishes for more diverse apartments are as old as housing itself so it's obviously which interests are favored here
Yeah I do agree with that, it's a bummer that they didn't extend this system to apartments. They really need some love.
