Kid said when running through onigashima that there was only junk when collecting materials which means his ability to create powerful weapons dictates on is material around him so, did he improve after fighting Big Mom or just better conditions to build more efficient weaponry? Regardless he got a 2 Piece no biscuit and killer got the fries and the Kid pirates picked up the bill.
The junk he got was not even enough to capasitated Big mom or Kaido alone without the help of Law & Luffy. kid said himseld that luffy gear 4 is their only option to damage Kaido. I have a problem with power scaling involving Shanks and I even have a name for my problem I call it "the unseen growth" let me explain in chapter 434 Whitebeard said that shanks and Mihawk's clashes could be heard throughout the grandline and yet the only time we see Shanks and Mihawk interact it's quite clear that Mihawk has no interest in duling him because he only has one arm, an arm he lost a decade ago I remind you. Which raises a really big question when was the last time these two guys actually fought? The same issue goes to Blackbeard giving him his scar, the same scar he has had since chapter 1 which in the current timeline is 12 years ago. Now I understand that this is a long rant and for anybody who actually reads this thank you, to get to my point Shanks was only an emperor for 6 years possibly hasn't fought Mihawk in 13 years and Oda only knows when Blackbeard gave him his scars yet everyone keeps bringing up the clashes and the scars as if it happened two days ago instead of over a decade ago I'm sorry but if Shanks chapter one was to fight modern Blackbeard, Mihawk, hell even Eustass Captain Kidd before last chapter Shanks chapter one would have been folded. I love Shanks I do but it is a disservice to believe that he has always been as Kol likes to say the god-king he had to earn that strength and the fact that people keep bringing up the clashes with Mihawk and the scars from Blackbeard and treat them like some Grand feats is nonsense.
Just because we didn't see Shanks grow in strength throughout one piece, just because we didn't see Mihawk grow stronger throughout one piece, just because we did not see pre devil fruit blackbeard grow stronger in one piece does not mean that they did not grow. The manga and the anime are such a visual medium we tend to ignore the obvious which in this case is at one point in time Shanks was really really weak, and the things that happened when he was really really weak in my opinion should not be held in high standards now that he is the god-king of One piece.
Chapter one Shanks only had a bounty of 1bil. And Shanks only became a yonko 4 years ago pre timeskip.
There's also Mihawk trying to measure the gap to the World's Strongest Man while Shanks is clashing with him and splitting the sky. Pretty damming if you ask me.
I diagree with you a bit here ..shanks chap 1 had adv conq haki ...yeah he was not as strong as he is now ..but definotely stronger than kid ...(i dont know about mihawk or bb..) in one piece film red the story was non canon but the powers and abilities were cannon ...and we see that shanks has adv conq haki (chap 1 version) when shanks defeats tot musica and left uta ...there is now way kid with basic haki can defeaf shanks...
You are trying to make sense of something that has no sense in the first place. Blame Oda and his inconsistencies and plot holes. What Oda likes to do is retcon stuff and purposely leave things vague so he can use it later and the fans just seem to be too much of meat munchers to notice it. 🤷♂️

People forget that he wasn’t trying to cut Jozu in the first place. It’s literally said that a great swordsman can chose what they want to cut which Zoro demonstrates when he goes from not cutting a leaf to cutting a boulder. Mihawks attack was meant for WB not jozu hence why it wouldn’t cut him

I dont think its possible for someone with a devil fruit to have better haki then a pure haki user. However you can only specialize and put so many points in each specific type. Observation, Armor, Offensive and Conquerors. Shanks is specced into all but Armor. He lost an arm to a sea king afterall. A good offense makes a good defence.
Garp is all Offense and Defence. Nothing else for example.
Luffy is equally distributed but his Devil fruit is an exemption to the stat rule since he just has to believe he can be better. Then he just has DBZ zenkai boosts after every fight.
This is why Mihawk is stronger then Shanks in a 1v1 sword fight but Shanks has his crew which evens the odds. Shanks can't 2 hand his sword to contest Mihawk anymore which makes him boring to Mihawk. Which is why Mihawk declared to wait for Zoro to surpass him.
Shanks imo could get wrecked by blackbeard and crew if he gets caught with his pants down. Which is why he treads so lightly now with help from the giants. BB already left a mark on him.
Easier to let Luffy and Zoro clean up.
Shanks is so great that he made a 100000/10 chapter, even with that 0/10 York's section.
Oda realized that the chapter was going to be ~5/10, as previous ones, that he had to put our boy in scene. And he used Brogy and Dorry very well, cus we know that they are trash in close combat, but their combined attack it's like a *King Punch*
This was also a nice showcase by Oda of Shanks' character in both a combat and non-combat role.
Roger must’ve taught Shanks about Haki just the way Sabo was probably taught by Dragon since he uses dragon named attacks.
The fact that black beard gave him that scar on his eye just makes so much sense to me now shanks can see ten seconds in too the future op

How cool would it be if the black beard ship showed arriving on Egghead Island was Infact Kuzan with Caesar clown & pudding coming to bring Caesar clown and re-unite him with Vegapunk. This would make for an EXPLOSIVE chapter because you'd see ((1. Caesar and the Vegapunks interact.)) .... ((2. You'd see the re-uniting of Sanji / Pudding, Possibly sanji getting his memories back of Pudding? )) .... (3. You'd see a possible twist instead of watching Borsalino Vs Straw hats you COULD get Borsalino Vs Kuzan ) Which hopefully would also result in Kuzan post fight being able to tell not only Rob & Kaku but also the straw hat pirates about the secret marine organization [Sword] since Rob & Kaku being betrayed by the marines they might join the ally forces known as [Sword]. Robin would get proper closure with Kuzan finally being able to talk face to face not as enemies. (Even possibly telling Robin that Saul is alive due to I assume the reason he's alive is Kuzan unfrozen Saul and let him escape after.) Giving the straw hat pirates even one more reason to want to go visit Elbaf.
Chapter was dope. Oda really damn near snuck in a BB pirate reveal😭.. Regarding the Shanks vs Kid aspect I can't say it wowed me too much. Why.. Becuz I essentially had no faith in Kid winning 🤷🏿♂️. So shanks 1 tapping him was to be expected to me😂. Personally I'm not physically gonna put Kid over beginning of Wano Luffy. So if Kaido could knock out Luffy with a lesser attack then kid should definitely fall with Shanks rage amp infusion (along with killer)
Of course killer and kid will return but I don't think it should be as strawhats rivals. Maybe give them some important role in the story to help Luffy somehow even if unintentionally..

Oda is setting the Tone of what is to come! by showing us what shanks can do... So can't wait for grap vs blackbread and what the groise can do.
One thing I'd like to note id that, it's not the range of his future sight rather it's his future being impacted from that range. In other words Shanks saw the future from that range because he gets attacked from that range in the future.
rayleigh warning luffy about future sight now makes a lot more sense. He talked about shanks telling him the rest of the laugh tale story later, so it seems like shanks and luffy meeting is something shanks and rayleigh have talked about: rayleigh wanted luffy to be ready for a clash with shanks
The Irony
Shanks - Strong but with weak fleet
Buggy - Weak but with strong fleet
Luffy - doesn't want anyone to follow him (we saw with the strawhat grand fleet at dressrosa)
Blackbeard - want everyone to follow him (we saw when he invited people to join his fleet at fullalead)
Kidd actually only fires 1 rail gun shot, the magnetic pull from the gun pulls the ships in a group so he could blast them.
If Shanks is the observation haki killer, then Mihawk must have a counter ability to that. It makes me wonder about when he fought Luffy at Marinefold. When Luffy saw the vision of his arms getting cut off, he immediately stopped, Mihawk's reaction was kinda like he wanted Luffy to see that vision, and also how he reacted to it. When Luffy passed the test, Mihawk "praised" him for not being foolish and continued to test Luffy.
So maybe Shanks can see really far in the future, and Mihawk can send visions or something into your observation haki to make you make a mistake, which results in their battle being an epic haki battle.

Interesting detail about the chapter is that Shanks didn't even scratched Kid, all damage was internal, this shows that Shanks attacks mainly with haki, not with sword, and will probably be the main difference between him and Mihawk

I think that the hostages might be sacrificed to make York a more permanent body, then she can transfer herself and Vegapunk's own essence into that body, killing Vegapunk and giving her all of his knowledge. It's possible that the real reason Shanks can negate others observation Haki, is by simply seeing further ahead.
My Mihawk/Shanks theory
Once Shanks lost his arm, Mihawk doesn't want to duel him anymore. Not because Mihawk will easily win, but because it would be such an embarrassment to lose a sword duel to a one armed man. I think Mihawk knows that Shanks is better, but Shanks never wanted to go all, to Mihawk's dismay. So he settled for the "tie", knowing deep down that Shanks would stomp him if he was ever serious.

I really don't understand why these guys keep thinking Shanks was waaaaaay beyond Wanos borders, and sometimes thinking their even in another continent. It clearly says that they're in the seas around Wano. Plus you see the cliffs, suggesting they're close to the wall. Such a weird detail to miss, only to gaslight a favorite character.

Shanks divine departure KOing Kidd and Killer doesn’t necessarily mean it dealt more total damage than what the received in Wano. It just means the initial shock was so intense that it KOed them - so it was the strongest single hit that went over their limit and they passed out.
Think about it, in real mma fights people can take damage for days and get super bloodied but not get KO. That was the Wano war. But then sometimes someone just hits them really hard in just the right way they weren’t prepared for and their lights go out. That doesn’t mean that single hit surpassed all the damage they’d take in an all out brawl, not at all
shanks has a small crew of admiral levels and vice adm that protects the civilian lvl members
I think the reason some of us downplay Garps feat or don't put it on the same level as Shanks last chapter

I think I understand the observation haki killer ability, shanks will power is so strong he can probably create any future he wants in a certain amount of time and change the future of his opponents who are using observation to predict his moves.
If you read the 4 billion volume, what shanks does is he uses his haki to disturb the opponents breathing (which being calm is directly involved in future sight and observation haki as katakuri states) therefore disrupting their ability to use future sight or even observation haki.
idk if its been theorized yet, but I think hancock may be on the BB ship in order for franky and usopp to get turned back to normal if S snake doesn't behave lol.
What evidence is there that Shanks and Mihawk were actually Yonko Level (or close) when they fought over 12 years ago before Shanks lost his arm? The closest we had was "their duels would shake the grandline" from whitebeard, but I imagine you could say the same of Ace Vs Blackbeard, neither of which were Yonko Level at the time, but "Yonko 1st mate" level. And there's still a big gap between Yonko 1st mate and captain.

Can’t know for sure tbh but it seems to be all haki to me, both when Roger and shanks used it, it seems to just be a traditional slash but plus the haki blast to basically just amp up the destructive power of the slash

Luffy and Shanks the only pirate rn eviscerating other crews, they got hella heads
Perhaps the Divine departure is a technique like Meliodas's full counter from seven deadly sins, which basically sends back any attack to its user. this would explain the damage that Oden received compared to Kidd. Kidd's "damm punk" attack was just too powerful even for Kidd.

I ask this based on the fact that kaido didn't bother breaking out future sight fighting luffy as a necessity but as a means to troll/teach luffy its FS isn't the top ability of observation haki.
Shanks' observation canceling ability would force an opponent to just naturally "react" to the speed and power of combat.
Kaido seems to be doing this the whole fight with luffy.
When kaido broke out future sight luffy was clearly at a disadvantage to kaido as far as speed.
But I believe shanks made kaido not rely on future sight anymore.

this is how i believe shanks is. he isn’t as physical durable as a BM or Kaido but he makes up by not being as cocky is just trying to tank hits and 2 by being so much faster he can blitz almost anyone in the verse. he blitzed luffy, zoro, kid, and law who can teleport. his attack potency seems to be much higher even with BM and Kaido having crazy feats.

I think the true meaning of the chapter was to showcase the red hair pirates in total, secretly it's main purpose was to showcase shanks crutch which is his fleet is super weak and they're able to hide behind his Banner, but one day they will be a yonko War where he wont be able to compete. just like he did in this chapter he's going to have to put it upon himself to protect everybody granted his initial crew is going to be able to hold things down but not against us stronger Fleet like buggies. this is why the title of the chapter is called The redhead Pirates and Crew, we finally see his weakness

Shanks had two mentors Roger & Rayleigh. Kaido had two mentors Xebec and Whitebeard. Both monsters but I don't think they've surpassed thoss two of the older generation but can give them a great fight and lose high diff.
