Sting, Peter Gabriel and Bruce Springsteen were doing a world tour for humanitarian reasons and asked her to join them instantly. That is Royalty saying, "Yes!" It was really epic, as they lifted her above all others as she was so young., and the truth of our American Hearts were lifted also. I closed my eyes and went back to my high school years when Tracey Chapman was around. She has such an amazing voice and she’s beautiful on top of that. Congratulations to Jojo, I know you are super proud of him and never stop bragging. You’ve done well pops!

Yep, it's a grown-up song. The lyric "Oh and rock me through the night" was pretty clear. I love Tracy Chapman, her voice and the control she has over her voice are perfect. I remember hearing "Give One Reason" for the first time and thinking "Damn, sounds like Tracy moved on from Mr. Fast Car, and good for her! lol

I grew up on Tracy's music, and even though I was too young to really grasp her artistry (late 80s baby in the house) she affected a lot of the people around me deeply and I felt it. Time for you to hear her song "Baby Can I Hold You." Love that one. Fingers crossed that eventually I'll also see my queens Meshell Ndegeocello and Dionne Farris on the channel too.

You can’t not dance to this song! Even at 8 am in my kitchen I’m dancing! I think her songs are all about strong women at different stages of life.

What I always loved about this song was of course the smooth bluesy sound and her vocals, but what she was saying; you know I’m here, you know I’m into you, but I’ve got self respect; in order to have me, you’re going to have to show you want me; I’m not chasing you.

That should tell you what the musical world thinks of Tracy Chapman. She is a great gift to us. Her voice, her song writing talent, her wisdom etc. There is no one like her.
