I remember William. Some memorable programs and movies. And I’m glad he points out starting from nothing, instills one to work and also to be grateful, for their success. Thanks Steve!
Steve back in the fifties the daughter of William Bendix lived next door to my grandparents. Their other neighbor was the character actor Authur Honeycutt. This was in Van Nuys.
I remember the movies, when people buy homes like actors in people and at one time are they obligated to keep the house the same as it was I've always wondered about that if there's been major changes to the house maybe it's the inside but not the outside I know certain historical homes in my area they're not allowed to change a whole lot thank you again for another great video blessings to you and yours😊😊😊😊
If the home has been designated as an historic site, then usually you do have to get permission from the city or county to make changes. If not, I think you could do whatever you want.
Hopefully I will be able to visit Palm Springs sometime--my mother left South Dakota right after high school graduation and took a job as a cook for the (well known at the time) actor Richard Dix. Richard Dix was also an Academy Award nominee. My mom seemed to enjoy the Palm Springs chapter of her life, it would be fun for me to retrace her time there and look for the home of Richard Dix.
Hi Steve... don't know the name William Bendix... his face looks familiar..nice house......thanks for vlogging your tours of Palm Springs have a great weekend... Deborah 🇨🇦
My wife and I remember him from the Life of Riley. A side note about Palm Springs, it’s very windy there, are there any wind turbines utilized for electric production in the area? Thanks
The Life of Riley was just a bit before my time, but I certainly remember William Bendix from his films. Hope you and Jim have a great day. 🌞 Still trying to stay warm here in the frozen tundra known as NE Ohio. 🥶
I don't remember William Bendix. He had a beautiful home. I haven't seen one with glass doors protecting the front of the home and garage before. Thanks for showing us his home. You and Jim take care.
Nice video, as always, Steve! William Bendix was in a pretty good film noir I watched not too long ago, “The Dark Corner” (1946). He played a creepy heel and did a great job! Lucille Ball was also in the movie.
Steve, I get the biggest kick out of your channel. I love the creative and clever architecture of Palm Springs. "Lifeboat" is an outstanding movie. I understand that Harpo Marx lived somewhere in your area. Legend has it that when he died in 1964, he was cremated and his ashes scattered into a bunker at a golf course he often played. This could be folklore (???)
Yes, I’ve heard that story too about Harper Marx‘s ashes. I even made a video about it many years ago from my other channel. Thanks for the reminder. I should post another video about it for this channel. 😄👍
I was born in '57 so I didn't know of him when he was alive; however, I fell in love with this man when I saw him in movies. I wanted him to be my dad.
Hi, you probably already saw these but the you tube algorithm just now suggested them to me “The Palm Spring Scene” 1960 Travelogue, “journal Palm Springs 1978” …fun to watch old videos that talk about PS at the time.
SO STEVE LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS. IT WAS MR. SAMMY DAVIS JR BIRTHDAY, ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED ENTERTAINER OF HIS TIME, AND MR. WILLIAM BENDEX WAS RIGHT THERE, A GREAT ACTOR HE WAS A GENTLE GIANT, AND I LOVE WHEN HE SAID, I DON'T HATE ANYBODY. SOME OF THOSE ACTORS, BACK IN DAY, WERE EVIL AND RACIST. I DIDN'T SEE NO RACISM IN WILLIAM BENDEX AT ALL. MAY GOD BLESS HIM ALWAYS, RIP SIR🙏🙌❤️
I definitely remember him in Wake Island and perhaps some other movies. On another note is the Graveyard Channel dead? Haven't seen any videos there for a while.
It’s not dead, but I haven’t left Palm Springs in quite a while. Unfortunately, to visit gravesites I mostly have to drive hundreds of miles and now that I’m retired and in my 70s it’s not as as it used to be. I will probably still visit Graves every now and then for that channel in the future though. Just not on a regular basis anymore.
I used to see The Life of Riley on reruns. I was surprised to find out that Jackie Gleason played Riley on television before William Bendix. His movie contract kept him from taking the TV role at the time.
I loved Wiliam Bendix when I was a kid. A lot of those old stars died relatively young because they were chain smokers. Another fave was Paul Douglas (Letter to Three Wives etc.)
“What a revoltin’ development this is!” I know he also built a home on several acres of land in Encino, CA and lived there during and after he built this house. After his death, his Encino house was later occupied by Jack Webb (Dragnet).
Dear Steve, I really enjoy your channel. The only time I can't watch your channel is when you take your camera and peak over people's privacy fences. I personally would be so upset if I found out somebody was taking a camera and looking over my privacy fence. I know it doesn't bother most people but it does me and I turn off your video. Other than that I enjoy the videos. I know people will react and tell me to just quit watching the videos then but I really would like to watch your videos. Sincerely, a subscriber.
I get that, but I usually only do that if it’s a very public or famous house where they are promoting or advertising themselves as such. I assume they expect people to do that at houses like that. Otherwise, I try not to pry or peak behind gates or fences. 👍
@@steveinpalmspringsca Hi Steve. You are nothing but respectful when you tour around. The space that you are recording in is public property so keep doing what you are doing. Pay no attention to the critics.
He was such extraordinary Character Actor even before I knew what a Character Actor Was 😂
I loved him in The Life of Riley. There's so much to see and do in Palm Springs❣️ That you Steve for always letting me tag along. ❤😊
You are so right Leesa. The things to do here our endless. 😄👍
I remember William. Some memorable programs and movies. And I’m glad he points out starting from nothing, instills one to work and also to be grateful, for their success. Thanks Steve!

Hi Steve... don't know the name William Bendix... his face looks familiar..nice house......thanks for vlogging your tours of Palm Springs have a great weekend... Deborah 🇨🇦
Hi Steve, love your little peekaboos 😉🤗
😳😄👍
@steveinpalmspringsca I meant over the fence peekaboos. 🙂
Loved life of Riley!
My wife and I remember him from the Life of Riley. A side note about Palm Springs, it’s very windy there, are there any wind turbines utilized for electric production in the area? Thanks
Yes, we have thousands of winter turbines here! That’s one of the things we are famous for. 😄👍
The Life of Riley was just a bit before my time, but I certainly remember William Bendix from his films. Hope you and Jim have a great day. 🌞 Still trying to stay warm here in the frozen tundra known as NE Ohio. 🥶
😎👍
I only remember his name. But thanks for sharing the visit!
Nice house!
I don't remember William Bendix. He had a beautiful home. I haven't seen one with glass doors protecting the front of the home and garage before. Thanks for showing us his home. You and Jim take care.
😄👍
I didn't recognize his name, but as soon as you showed his picture I knew exactly who he was.
😄👍
Nice video, as always, Steve! William Bendix was in a pretty good film noir I watched not too long ago, “The Dark Corner” (1946). He played a creepy heel and did a great job! Lucille Ball was also in the movie.
Wow, Lucille Ball. Another Palm Springs resident. Thanks for sharing that Cary! 😄👍
I love mid century modern, whats your fav style?
Mid-century modern is probably my favorite style too, but I really do love all architectural styles.
Steve, I get the biggest kick out of your channel. I love the creative and clever architecture of Palm Springs. "Lifeboat" is an outstanding movie. I do remember William Bendix. My parents watched Life of Riley so I'm sure I did as well. I remember him more from his movies tho.
I was born in '57 so I didn't know of him when he was alive; however, I fell in love with this man when I saw him in movies. I wanted him to be my dad.
Yeah, he looked like he would be the perfect dad! 😄👍
I remember the name William Bendix. And I've heard of Life of Riley. But I never put the 2 together. 🤔 Take care, Steve.
Hi, you probably already saw these but the you tube algorithm just now suggested them to me “The Palm Spring Scene” 1960 Travelogue, “journal Palm Springs 1978” …fun to watch old videos that talk about PS at the time.
Hi Joe, yes I have, but thanks for mentioning them here those who haven’t yet seen them. There are a few different ones on UA-cam. 😎👍
Nice find, Steve. I visited his grave as well.
Wow, Kurt, like I've said before, you really do have an old soul! And a dad who's been an awesome role model! 😎👍
👏👍
I remember the Life of Riley show.

I never heard of him
You are too young 😄
👍👍
I used to see The Life of Riley on reruns. I was surprised to find out that Jackie Gleason played Riley on television before William Bendix. His movie contract kept him from taking the TV role at the time.
Thanks for the interesting trivia. I didn’t know that. 🤔👍

You sound quite young 😎I’m surprised you heard of Bill 🙈
No, I'm old! :-)
My guess is that they are chipping out the pool plaster and renovating the pool.
Played a good gangster! A good one to watch is The Blue Dahlia with Alan Ladd, Veronica Lake, and William as the "muscle."
“What a revoltin’ development this is!”
I know he also built a home on several acres of land in Encino, CA and lived there during and after he built this house. After his death, his Encino house was later occupied by Jack Webb (Dragnet).
What fun trivia. Thanks for sharing that with us Brian. 😄👍
No, you are not the last person to know he owned a home there. I didn’t know either. I enjoyed his movies though and his distinctive voice, too.
Because you are so young, I wasn’t sure you would even remember him. Glad you do. 😄👍
Bendix sounds like a made-up Hollywood name, like Sheen, Pitt, Cruise or Diesel. But it is his real name.
Dear Steve, I really enjoy your channel. The only time I can't watch your channel is when you take your camera and peak over people's privacy fences.
