- Hello and welcome to this series which will look into various elements of Kingdom Death: Monster with a focus on both strong "meta" strategies and also how to make more goofy and fun options work, because it's not a board game if you are not having fun!

That'll be a little while, KDM Simulator needs an update to fix an issue with the Plumery. Once that's dropped I'll be recording it.

Awesome stuff, when you talked about the whip you stated a “pseudo strength increase from luck” does that mean that higher luck overrides your to-wound strength roll? Let’s say in Lala land you have a survivor with 5 luck, you’re wound on 5+ regardless of strength?

You critically wound. So yes, but the hit location needs to have a critical option.

Shorts would be ok, but most of the boxes have a lot of content, so maybe a video would be better.
No playthroughs planned because the Gambler's Chest isn't on KDM Simulator and that's what my focus is on for the patreon work. I might do edited playthrough summaries when I've gotten through all the various deep dive "& Yous" but there's at least a year's worth of stuff that I need to cover.
Leather armor is consider a must build. saddly a whip isn't that good, it is really cool.
Not into shorts, nor unboxings. Slow and informed like this video is way better :). That shouldn’t discourage you, though :).
How do you get around the low str on the whips? Seems difficult to wound anything unless you use a red charm.
Do leather boots really work when you dash out of the monster's reach? You don't have an "act" yet
They wouldn’t, no
I think what Fen is saying is that it can help you get ready to get further out of range. Either by headbanding and positioning appropriately (purely just extra movement in that case) or by allowing you to rush in and fight monsters with low movement, step one back, get targeted (still close) and now it’s given you a little more leverage with your dash to dash cancel the monster.
Are you gonna do anything on the gamblers chest expansion? Also how are you getting so much resources?

Hey Fen. Just clarification, Dung Beetle Knight and Lion God are both listed as Node 4 quarries in the Gambler's Chest rulebook
Yes this was recorded pre-reading that portion of the GCE rulebook. Though the idea that the DBK is a Node 4 monster is somewhat amusing.
@@FenBossBattlersmy opinion is that he is Node 4 because of the steep increase in difficulty of level 2+
@@kalebspicer5453 I'll give you the L3, but the L2 isn't harder than the Node 3 L2s from my experience. They need to address the stats for the DBK in CoD if they want it to feel like a Node 4.
@@FenBossBattlersDBK enters the campaign much later than all node 3s and it’s lvl 1 is still harder than other node 3 lvl 1s. Of course there is still a big gap between it and King entry and stats, but tbh given King comes after the Core fight it almost should be a 4.5 lol.
@@TeChNoWC7 And that's exactly the problem with Node 4 as it stands. Lion God & DBK are somewhat comparable in their power scaling (LG's a bit tougher), but the King is absolutely in an entire Node higher. (Also give me an L1 DBK over the L1 Phoenix any day, DBK's easier than that absolute menace).
Can you have a 2 handed weapon and a leather shield?
There's no limit to the number or types of weapons you can have and use in a gear grid. The only limitations are your activations and things like a dismembered arm.
Have a look at the Mad and Mighty Striker narrative miniature from the Gambler's Chest if you want a visual example.
