- The Condor Selknam Knife is designed for the woodsman who is going to chop, baton, and demand the most out of his bushcraft knife. This is a pretty solid one tool option. #condor

I miss you TN Mountain folk.. I've got family in the Smokies that I haven't seen in years, and you might as well be one of my cousins haha.. You people are awesome.
Oh, and great knife. Great vid.
Hey!!
I am flattered by watching this video made about my very best designs for Condor TK. Be advised the Selkanm is a Flat/Saber grind, not convex.
I am glad that you like it that much, it’s a beast!
The S-3 Sheath stands for Survival System Sheath.
Glad to see also that a fellow Marine likes it!
Best regards from this Chilean Marine.
Keep it sharp
Walter
Hey Walter! Thank you so much for watching! The blade confused me, I had one that came in and it was actually convex on one side, and flat/ saber on the other. I ended up just grinding a a bevel on it. I’m guessing at some point they decided to switch from convex to flat, and somehow (maybe Friday knofe) my convex got grinded on one side and they just shipped it ! Thank you for watching and commenting! I have more of your knives to do more videos on!
Awesome bro! Hadn't seen this knife before, big thanks from the sticks of southern Oregon
I like Condor knives. I have four Condor knives and two Condor machete's. And I bought them back when I considered Condor knives to be a good value for the money. But prices of Condor blades have been going up. Which is now why I buy knives from Ukraine, the BPS brand. Very good knives, with good sheaths, at a price I can easily afford. But yeah, that knife does look interesting, as does the sheath.
I like them a lot too! But I’m definitely chooching that BPS train myself pretty hard! I hope BPS continues to grow and put out more knives! (And keep them affordable) what’s your favorite condor?
@@gustifer0311 Of the five I have, thought I had six, but just five. The Mini Hudson Bay knife. Great small blade , 4.5 inch cutting edge, blade is 5 inches over all. Handle is a tad small, but that's okay by me. And its thick enough that if I ever had to split small wood with it, I would :) I also have the full sized Condor Hudson Bay knife, its a beast.
@@longrider42 love my Hudson Bay! I’ve been eyeing that Mini Hudson Bay for sometime!
@@gustifer0311 Drop the Hammer on the Mini Hudson Bay knife, then you will have the set and there won't be much you cant do in the field with those two knives. I use the little one for general camp chores and food prep, its also a great knife for carving. But the handle is a tad small, so keep that in mind.
@@longrider42 yessir! Love the look of it! It was a tossup between this one and the mini! Ultimately the sheath steered me to this one!
I agree, it's one of my faves. I done a review on it a while back and I have the original thick boy. I just thinned the cheeks up a tad and boom.. one Of the best camp knives made.
Thank you for sharing that my brother! And welcome to the channel!
Yeah brother! Out there in the rain testin em out. Now that’s a nice stealth for an affordable piece.
Hey brother! Thanks for watching and commenting! Love being out in the woods in the rain! Keeps all the people away! I may send you this knife so you can tell me what you think about it
Great vid
Drew welcome back my brother and thank you for watching and commenting! Looking forward to bring you guys much more!
looks like a great knife I have this one in my amazon cart and think I am going to have to pull the trigger on it sometime soon. great video my friend keep them coming.
Hey brother! Thanks for watching and commenting! I truly do enjoy my selkman and I have complete confidence in its abilities! The sheath for it is really something else. Don’t be surprised if you have to condition the leather though :) mine came a little dry
Don't do it , man. I have one, have used it extensively, and I hate it. It's a beautiful knife, but a very poor performer. Watch this video closely. Look how long it's taking him to chop a skinny little piece of wood and how poorly it feathersticks afterwards. Watch how the knife won't cut a damned thing until you see his sharpener laying there and THEN he tells you what good curls it cuts and that you shouldn't listen to those "other guys"..... after he had to stop and sharpen the rolls out so it would cut something again. Those other guys complained because they actually did have one of the old convex ground knives that are better at breaking sticks in half than feathersticking them, which is why Condor changed the grind in the first place, and they did it a long time ago. If this guy had the convex grind he thinks he has he'd be complaining too. One has to wonder why he doesn't know the difference, even after handling and using the knife, never mind sharpening the thing!
Anyway, you can buy an infinitely better RAT 7 for much less than this thing or an Esee 6 for $107 (knifeworks), both of which would've hacked that little stick in half in two or three blows and then spent the rest of the day feathersticking like you just took it out of the box.
@@Im_With_Stupid thanks for watching and commenting! The blade definitely is a convex grind, but because they are handmade, you may find imperfections varying between models, I.e. an uneven bevel. (This particular one had a slight flat edge on one side, which may have been amplified by the pocket sharpener. I honestly can’t remember if that was out for this knife or the other knife, as I did 2 knife reviews that day. It’s been a minute so I can’t quite remember. However, I did order a second Selknam for comparison, and it was a true convex)
As I said in the video, all blades have a learning curve, and if you use one type of knife/ grind for an extended amount of time, it takes time to learn a new one. That’s why the “other guys” have poorer reviews.
Regarding sharpening, all knives require sharpening. Some out of the box, some after a couple hours, some after days.
There’s no denying how much a flat or a scandi grind can spoil us, but I think it’s important to use all types, and most folks will agree that convex will hold its edge the longest, at the price of ease of use.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and share your opinion! Be safe out there!
@@Im_With_Stupid well I already decided in the end that I do not want this knife anymore as I have found others such as the Esee 4,5 and 6 I would rather have and the more I do research on condor knives the more I am steering away from them.
@@Rocktalk101 I’m doing Esse / Randall’s survival training at the beginning of next month! They award the graduates a knife at the end of the three day course! Super excited and I can’t wait to see what knife it is!
Hey brother just subscribed to your channel and was wondering what part of Tennessee you’re from I am also in Tennessee. Love your knife videos
Hey My TENNESSEE BROTHER! Thanks for watching and subscribing! I live North of Chattanooga and venture to Tellico often!
Oh man wish we were closer neighbors I live in East Tennessee near Erwin if you know that area close to Cherokee national forest
yes sir I am near and inside the Cherokee National Forest all the Time. Spend a lot of time in Etowah and Benton as well. I also go near the smokes and deep East TN around Rogersville and further.
My brother , you look so happy even in the rain lol . I wonder why they call that a convex cause it looks beveled ? I found a kewl tactical blade that really suprised the heck out of me from a place called karatemart its made of 1065 tungsten and that is what railroad tracks are made out of , so it is very tough and it has the same handle as the Extrema Ratio knives without the $400 price tag its called the Modern Tactical Tanto and I got it for $65 on karatemart and it has a kydex sheath , that handle is so different but so comfortable, you will be suprised brother.I love the knife .
I will certainly check that out! And I’m wondering about the bevel myself! I ordered a second one because I’m under the impression I may have gotten one that had been returned! I will let you know if it’s a true convex!
Hey brother wanted to follow up with you! My second Selkman came in and it’s a true Convex. Looks like my first one was made by a JR craftsman, bc it was beveled in one side. I fixed it :)
It's not a convex blade, it's a flat grind with second bevel .
Depends. Mine came as a convex on one side. Ended up beveling it. I ordered a second one that was a convex. It would appear that someone was day dreaming when they were making my first one.
Hey brother have you checked out the case xx Bowie and the bear and son Bowie two great knife brand made in the USA
Hey Huckleberry! Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, I am familiar with both! You should check out my review on one of Alabamas Finest Bowies, the Bear and Son 502D ua-cam.com/video/im-1r7Is0aA/v-deo.html I dont personally own the CASE but it is world renowned for being one of the highest quality bowies you can get!
ALso, What's your favorite bowie?
@@gustifer0311 my favorite one is made by Jeff white but as far as commercially made it would have to be the bear and sons Bowie only because Im a carbon steel kind of guy I like the old school stuff
