Sometimes you click on a video, often you’re disappointed, sometimes it’s ok and even nice. But every now and then you’re absolutely blown away. We all know which one this video is. Bravo! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Ah, I love it how I can watch UA-cam, listing to some of my favorite folk singers that I have “discovered” but always watching the side panel for versions of songs that I have played myself and know well. Occasionally I find a Diamond in the Rough. This was one of those times. Loved your version of Shenandoah from the wonderful guitar (Martin D18?) fingerpicking of Lain, your exquisite harmonies and Liz’s surprising, strong and absolutely beautiful soprano. It made my day and I return your bow.
I am not always a fan of "formal" folk, but this rendition won me over. Liz has both command and comfort, and transforms herself into an instrument of beauty. Nice job and thanks.
Lain and Liz ,thank you for this beautiful interpretation Soul full harmonies. Your guitar introduction touched my heart. American folk songs are the soul of this country. I work as a docent at a Florida history museum . We describe pioneer life in Florida 1890- 1920. I've always been impressed with how people were able to do so much with so little. I believe music was a thread that held people together. In prayer and in daily life . So important to those people that brought their customs to form the diverse nation that we are. Thank you for keeping this value alive. I have been a student and devotee of music since my father gave me the gift of music lessons when I was 10. I am 66 now. I have been blessed to play various instruments and have sung in choirs, choruses, ensembles and solo work. I know what it is to sing with others in beautiful harmony. Thrilled to hear your interpretation of Shenandoah, that beautiful daughter of the stars. Keep this soulful work alive in our children. Thank you Christopher R.
Beautiful playing and fantastic performance! Thank you both. I used to sing this with my Grandmother 60 some years ago! Brought back beautiful memories for me.🙏🏻🙏🏻🫡🫡❤️❤️
This Gal has a very operatic voice. I looked her up on the internet and sure enough she is a famous soprano named Elizabeth Sutphen. Her voice is among the loveliest I've heard and together they are pure magic.
I had to come back to this today...yesterday l lost my beautiful sister "Kimbo" to pancreatic cancer...but like the exquisite beauty of your voices...her joyous memory will swell in my soul forever.... Thankyou again sweet children...9/14/24😢❤😇🥹
I first heard this in the 1950s by Norman Luboff 'Songs of the Sea' LP, my first LP. I played it until it wore out. I love the song and these two singers are wonderful artists certainly doing it justice !

Shenandoah has a sacred meaning for me...its a homage to God who created the beautiful river and the mythic lake the natives called daughter of the stars
I love how she looks like she is barely able to contain her excitement at the beginning of the video. Both of them are genuinely enjoying the performance in the moment. This is pure music magic.
Beautiful harmony, but oh my, that voice! It touches the soul.
