I've owned the amp for about two weeks. I normally play through an Egnater Renegade 212 and I have to tell you the Egnater although a much more expensive amp is a lot harder to get sounding right (to me). The Blackstar has awesome OD channels, a descent clean channel and plenty of balls. I am amazed! It sounds to me pretty close if not better than a Marshall.
The amp has an effects loop and as long as you use the 4 cable method to put the effects through the loop and distortions in front of the amp this thing works AMAZING. i should do a demo on how it handles pedals.. i don't have the amp here right now but within the next couple weeks ill see what i can do to put up a new video showing how that works!
Nice Demo! I just Tried one out and put It on lay away. How does the amp handle pedals? Not really sure If I will hook up a distortion.Because I did Like the amps distortion. But was curious about other pedals if you have tried them Thanks
sorry it took me a while to get back to ya! been busy. I had my guitar plugged directly into the amp with no effects at all. all from the amp. and actually this was also at VERY low volumes. so when it gets turned up its even more in your face!
Great demo! I think you really showed the versatility of the amp pretty well. I'm looking for an amp for mainly metal, but I hate how most of them suited just for that genre (Peavey 6505, for example) don't do anything else and have less than adequate cleans. I don't know what was causing the clipping there in the middle, perhaps the mic placement? What kind of guitar/pickups are you using for this? It really seems like an amp that can do any kind of music you ask it to.
Hey my friend your demo is fantastic!!. I just bought one of these and it is bad ass. Best amp ever with balls to the wall and a great sound. Your tone on the demo sounds great. What kind of guitar are you playing on this video. Need to get your guitar too to match your sound!!! I've been using a strat and it just isn't the same!! Yours is better!!
Thanks 4 responding. The Amp sounds great!Although I have to say I have not been able to turn It up Like You did there. But I will be Bringing it down to Rehearsal to really open her up!Was`nt quite getting that nice Distortion sound you Recorded....But I`m sure that is just a Matter of Volume!!! LOL .By the way have you swapped out any of the Tubes yet on your amp? If so anything you recommend.Mostly play style you were playing, hard rock & Metal. Thanks Good stuff.
Its recorded directly into my computer through a mixer into the pc but its more likely due to it being a cheap mixer that the sound isn't that amazing but honestly its a great sounding amp pretty much any way you set it up!
I ended up having some problems with mine.LOL I did`nt even have the amp 2 weeks! I already had to bring it back.I also have read other people that have had Issue with the Amp. Although after I sent it back & waited a long time for the repair. S. Ash did offer me a new one. It does sound great though. I am a bit skidish on reliability though. If I had to buy an amp in this Price range again. I would buy the US made Carvin V3m 50 watt. Great sounding amp though.
The clipping is because of the cheap mixer im running it into and i wasn't referencing it in my headphones as i was recording to catch it :( didn't want to restart the whole video.. Honestly it is the most versatile amp i have ever played through! sparkling cleans searing leads & a great crunch channel to boot! couldn't ask for more! i got this baby used for $530 too retails for $900 SCORE!
I'll defend Mesa Boogie to the death (played a Mk II for 30 yrs.), but since owning/playing this amp, it's opened up even more doors regarding versatility & available saturation stages. The Ht 60 just might free you from the herd of sheeple that believe they need an extra squadron of overdrive, boost, &/or distortion 'stompboxes'. That all comes with this amp.
It has alot to do with the pickups on the guitar! i got myself a isp decimator noise reduction pedal and haven't had problems just as much "noise" as any other high gain amp! honestly there isn't much need to turn the volume up past 1/4 when you mic like do though so it could be worse at really high volumes
Hey dude, Sweet amp demo. I'm looking to buy this amp soon and was wondering, how loud can you get this thing? Like Gigging to 100 people loud or studio loud?
What guitar/pickups did you use? I'm surprised you said it is a little lacking in Bass, I played through a HT Soloist 60 (no Resonance control) and it had plenty of Bass, and that was with a guitar that I actually had to switch out the pickup because it didn't have enough "Body" in the tone...
the sound from 02:50 to 02:58 is amazing! is it realy come only from this amp??? (and guitar of course) and with no some effects ???? if yes im defenietly gonna buy it! (tell me yes :D)
I played one of these once and on OD2, and volume up a decent amount, it had tons of white noise. Did I play on a bad one or does yours do it to?? Ive seen multiple videos posted by people complaining about it too.
hey dude great review. I have a big doubt in my mind, and i don`t know which amp should i choose. I wanna get that amp which you can play dream theater with it`s oun distorsion and i found out that as the ht 60 has 3 channels it would have enough dist. also it shows too much versatility. do you think this amp could be for ANY style, such as metal even using some boost?
I was considering this amp for smaller gigs because I'm kind of tired of lugging my half-stack around. I play mostly post-hardcore like Jawbox and Quicksand. Do you think this amp is powerful enough for that kind of gig?
I'm used to a 100 watt marshall 4X12 but sick or lugging it around. I know this is a heavy amp but at least its one piece. Question I play pretty loud hard rock and my drummer hits very hard. Will this blackstar fit the bill?
I have this amp a year and a half now. I always used a V-wah distortion instead of its overdrive channel 2. Now that I am using the amp overdrives a bit more, there is a HUGE PROBLEM of WHITE NOISE when I higher up the gain...Even when the guitar volume is off... It is SO BAD that it becomes completely overpowering. I'm not very tech-knowledgeable so I'm not sure if I just have to replace the valves or not... I think it has been this way since i got it.. Anyone have advice for me?
Can anyone on here help me out? I recently bought one of these on Craigslist and I love it. I want to swap out the preamp tubes and I'm not sure if the dude I bought it from had the tubes in correct sockets. There are two 12ax7ec83 tubes and one 12ax7ec82 tube. I've searched high and low for a schematic or any info regarding this and have come up empty. Looking at the amp from the back please let me know the order of the preamp tubes right to left. Thanks!!!
Yes, I have your footswitch and the blackstar ht 60, but I also have a processor tc electronic g-major and switch behringer fcb1010. My idea was to be able to directly change the channels from the behringer and through the effects loop, assign it the same from the g major, but I have not been able to change the channels from the behringer fcb1010. Not is if you know something about...
Jorge Beato Lozano I don't believe the blackstar has support for midi channel switching. like I said they use a proprietary cord to connect them anyway. not midi.
Just saw a video of a Fender Hot Rod Deville. And now I'm watching this one again. Who needs a Fender anyway ? Can't wait to get this monster !

the first sound is just unbelivably sexy.i just got one of these
Every video I've seen of this series sounds fantastic. I'm hearing everything from Merle Haggard to Dickey Betts to Eddie Van Halen to Kerry King.
Plenty. I have upgraded tubes and speakers since this demo and i love it even more now!

sniperking1990 can you explain the 4 cable hookup

Sweet god. This badass amp sounds fucking awesome
Damn this amp has balls! Off to the store now...
Thanks for your nice demo .. i'm just asking does this amp better than JCM-800 combo ?
Put a noise reduction pedal in front of the amp. It helped mine a massive amount. i got the ISP Noise Decimator.
@rr690 This was at master volume 1 so i would say it sounds pretty good for low volumes
Well played
Hmm ill have to try that out.. i have my pedalboard hooked up with the effects loop!
The clipping is because of the cheap mixer im running it into and i wasn't referencing it in my headphones as i was recording to catch it :( didn't want to restart the whole video.. Upgrade to cream backs on mine. MAJOR change to the low end and mids.

I used my 1989 Westone Corsair Gt for this video! actually a pretty basic guitar but its one of the best playing guitars ive ever had!
It has alot to do with the pickups on the guitar! i got myself a isp decimator noise reduction pedal and haven't had problems just as much "noise" as any other high gain amp!

Yes right at 2:48!

cool. i don't know if i want this or the peavey 6505 plus, combo. heard great things on blackstar.... just need great metal tone with crunch.

i really like this amp ... it's around 650 euros if am right ?

The overdrive and distortion are really thin sounding on this amp. I'd recommend adding a pedal or two.
Most amps back then from crate sounded digital and thin.. lol
@@sniperking1990 The cleans are ok
I was considering this amp for smaller gigs because I'm kind of tired of lugging my half-stack around. I play mostly post-hardcore like Jawbox and Quicksand. Do you think this amp is powerful enough for that kind of gig?
is it good for modern heavy 80's glam metal/ 80's thrash metal mixed with lamb of god and pantera kse or all that remains?
How do you think this amp would do versus a marshall half stack and some miced drums and keynboard?
all the second voices are bad?, the same as the first ones but more dry with reverb?, or is just my ear or the sound of the camera?
I'm used to a 100 watt marshall 4X12 but sick or lugging it around. I know this is a heavy amp but at least its one piece. Question I play pretty loud hard rock and my drummer hits very hard. Will this blackstar fit the bill?
Yeah, its plenty loud. ive been told too many times that i need to turn it down.
Dude! I'm so in the market for one of these can you send me the settings on all three channels?
Im thinking of picking it up. Is it loud enough to play live with . Ill A/B it with my 100 w line 6 2 x 12 combo
Robert Artese Its way loud enough
how good is the master volume on this thing. does it sound good at low levels?
I have this amp a year and a half now. I always used a V-wah distortion instead of its overdrive channel 2. No gain clean and no middle clean, this is important or not ?
What does the resonance knob actually do ? I've seen em before but never really knew what it's about ?
RoyvanRikken Its kinda like the low end version of the precence control, it makes the low end at bit fuller and bigger.
Luv my HT-60
Is this model too powerful for someone like me who practice more often in my room?
Can anyone on here help me out? I recently bought one of these on Craigslist and I love it. Just sold my hot rod Deville 4x10 and got one these for $375
What guitar did you use in this test?
It was a 1989 Westone Corsair GT
Heyyy companion, ¿do know if through the switch behringer fcb1010 can change the blackstar ht stage 60 channels?
Thanks in advance
A greeting
Jorge Beato Lozano blackstar uses a non standard input selector pedal. it uses a 9 pin serial cable between the amp and footswitch
Yes, I have your footswitch and the blackstar ht 60, but I also have a processor tc electronic g-major and switch behringer fcb1010. I own this amp have for awhile now your settings are so far off from what make that amp sing
Can you dial in a sound to get some juicy blueslicks out of this amp?
THISISTHEUNIVERSE yes
If anyone in Midlands is looking at getting one of these, i'm selling one for just over 500 pounds. Huge sounding amp. Peace and love.
sigh...I need to stop watching youtube.....its kickass demo's like this that keep me broke lol
