    If this is indeed an improvement over the previous HT 60, then this is stellar. Don brings out some awesome sounds. I'm pretty well sold.

    This is way better than the previous offerings ! The older stuff sounds like bees buzzing 😉

      That's not true, I have the HT20 and it sounds far from bees buzzing and sounds as good as any amp out there. I have a V30 and JJ's in it and it great tone.

    This amp sounds a lot better in person..No offense here, just that we are hearing it close mic'd...In person (in the room per say) this amp is glorious.. Clean and chimey/glassy, beautiful organic low/vintage-old school rock tones on ch2, ch 3 is a great blend of plenty of gain, yet clear without being harsh. I have Mesa MK IV, Helix, Triaxis, and Bogner amps...The Blackstar is not THE best amp I've ever heard, but exceeded all expectations...I even thought the same thing about the speakers when I first saw what they were, but I played and listened with my ears, and have to say, that amp kills it!! You can find them used for around $650... Very organic, musical, inspiring...ok..I ran out of adjectives LOL.. Long story long, I didn't think I was going to like it...LOVED it.

      I had looking for a new amp and i started coming across blackstar and was impressed what i wss hearing, I tried the HT 40 at Sam Ash and was set on Blackstar and I came across a HT 60 2x12 on Craigslist for $450 and the guy ended up dropping it to $375 (favor of God ☝️). I am excited to start messing with it as soon as i fix the 3 way switch on my Tele with its new GFS Little Puncher (hot rail).

    For studio recording, and for modern metal and death metal style music, how would you compare this amp to the EVH 5150 III?

    • @IllusionaryFuneral
      @IllusionaryFuneral 6 років тому +1

      You're better off getting the EVH for death metal. There's even a 50 watt combo amp version, and it's only $500 more than the Blackstar Stage 60. Plus, the Blackstar will require a tube screamer or some similar pedal in order to be effective in a modern death metal setting. EVH doesn't need one at all. If anything, putting a tube screamer on an EVH hinders the tone. I know all this from my experience with both amps.

    • @1thess523
      @1thess523 6 років тому +2

      @@IllusionaryFuneral i was thinking of getting the EVH 50W because I play punk music but i came across the Blackstar HT 60 and got it for $375 and i couldn't pass it up. I still get the tone I want and now i have extra money to buy something else 💵👍

    The amp I ordered didn't come with the 5 button footswitch. Only 2 button. I ordered it from zZsounds. Maybe Sweetwater included the 5 button with these amps I don't know. Just a heads up you might want to call and confirm before you order it

    Is the only difference between the MK11 and the regular HT the usb?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  6 років тому +2

      The USB is a cool new feature on the MKII amps, but Blackstar also revoiced these quite a bit. The drive on them is much warmer and flexible. The clean channel is also quite a bit better, and much more comparable to what you'd hear out of a Fender style amp.
      Thanks for your interest!

    How do you rate the new Blackstar HT Mark 2 5 watt that just came out a few months ago?
    What’s your opinion of this compared to the Marshall DSL line?
    Which has less hiss/ noise?
    Thanks Sweetwater!

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  5 років тому +1

      Hello, David. Thanks for reaching out. In terms of low noise/noise floor on the amps, they are similarly low. Of course this all depends on other conditions like pedal chain, local power source, pickups. In terms of a comparison between the manufacturers 5-watt models... The Blackstar offers a 12-inch speaker. This will give you a bit more of a push on the lower frequencies where as the Marshall comes stock with a 10". The Blackstar HT-5 offers quite a bit more tonal flexibility with the ISF (infinite shape Feat.) and separate OD EQ. Overall, they are both wonderful amps with a nice thick sound, perfect for recording. Thanks again.

    This amp should come with VINTAGE 30's instead if the 70/80yucko speakers 😋 The vintage 30's would fill out and take away the buzzing harshness surely. I'm sure BlackStar colud afford to at least use the 50 watt Eminence legend speakers that sounds way way better than these 70/80 speaker, pass that on to em if you would.

    • @derricksanders4548

    Im on my second ht60. First one had no sound. Sweetwater couldn’t get the correct parts from blackstar (I did have to pay around 250 to send it back to them under warranty) sweetwater was great. They got frustrated and sent me a new amp. Oct 2023. Hey guess what? This one’s doing the same thing. At least this one works out of the rear xlr input.

    • @sweetwater

      voodoochilezee, the section of the video from about :34 - 1:41 is pretty representative of the clean sounds. Good chime, clarity, and thump, plus it will go to the edge of breaking-up. A good articulate, flexible clean channel. Thanks for your question!

      Both are really awesome amps. It's all personal preference. The CR120 is a bit more affordable, but the Blackstar is tube and lots of people prefer to just have tubes. Both can tackle pretty much anything though. It's all up to the player to decide which one they prefer.

      @Luke Robinett I agree but ... I own this amp and nailed overdriven tones need, in my opinion, to be dialed in. Not any random eq/preamp combination will work. At first I was a bit frustrated and I though the amp had an overall muffled fuzzy quality. After some time working out tones it has worked out perfectly and I dont see myself getting other amps.
