I just bought the HT stage 60 and I am blown away at how good this amp sounds. I was actually testing out a guitar and just randomly plugged into this amp at the shop and I couldn't believe how good the amp sounded. Needless to say, I walked out with a new amp instead of a new guitar. Couldn't be happier. I play in a melodic metalish type band, and I also play with a blues and classic rock group. I think this amp can do just about any tone very well. Don't think, BUY! Plus, Blackstar is just a badass name.
Matthew Wood Would you say that the amp sounds good when at bedroom level volumes?
+edward stables Definitely. My old bandmate bought the stage 60, and its easy to get bedroom levels and sound good
The sound from this amp seems to meet a halfway between a marshall and an orange as far as dirty's go. I love it.
you guys r the best awesome demos not one dimentional everyone else cant show all u can get with the amps
I used the Stage 100 at our gig at the Purple Turtle last week, the best amp I've ever played through, and many notches above the usual "wasp in a jar" amps that venues provide. I only used OD1 for a bit of crunch, which was lovely, and the clean channel which sounded stunning with my P90 loaded Tele. Now I'm saving up to buy one, and a car to get it to our gigs!
I have the HT Stage 100 stack and it's awesome for metal, but I was shocked at the classic rock and blues tones that you can get out of it. Definitely check it out
Awesome amp period I picked up a ht 100 and love it very versatile
30 secs of the demo dedicated to OD1 on the HT-100? Would like to hear more from that channel.
Dammit, why couldn't Blackstar do a 50w version of this head? I don't need 100 watts and I'm not lugging the HT-Venue 60 Combo about. But hot-diggity the head sounds good. Would you guys say that there is a convincing Marshall JMP sound in this amp?
I just bought the 50 watt head version and it sounds absolutely amazing, and can do metal no problem
The HT 100 was my 3rd Blackstar amp. Now going for the big boy the 200. Who wouldn't want 200 watts if you could have them ? The neighbors will be so pleased. Hehehehe
@carloamiel currently all Blackstar amps are designed in the UK and built in Korea
I use Blackstar HT 100's and they are great. Van Halen to Slayer they do it all and do it well. Don't listen to the trendy gearheads who say it won't do metal. They just don't know how to use it. I've had Boogies, Marshalls, Soldanos.... on and on and the Blackstar outdoes them all. That's why I have them now, not the others...
who the f**k in their right mind would say it's not capable of metal, idiots! this amp is designed for metal so we agree in that respect, i own it, and even though it has some great high gain sounds, i find it lacks clarity and breaks up way too much when you try anything outside of the normal powerchords. i find it can be abit too muddy some of the time and i can't get a good crunch sound on it either. this amp is made solely for high gain distortion and sparkling cleans but unfortunately its not versatile enough for all the 'in between' tones you would probably get on a mesa mark v. but for most metal and hard rock it works like a charm
brian bridges yeah. they dont realize Blackstar is a company started by FORMER MARSHALL BUILDERS. I.E. the ones who made the JCM 800
brian bridges If you're having trouble getting a good crunch tone then here's a cool trick. If you set the gain reasonably high, like to a metal tone then roll back your guitar's volume, it starts to clean up and you can get some great crunch/overdrive sounds.
slayer? really? what's better for metal, this or peavey 6505?
Rotter Photography slayer? yes. they use old Marshall JCM800's. it's actually a very close match. if you listen to their tone it's not really very aggressive compared to some newer bands. when I play straight metal I use other amps. jvm410 or a krank rev depending on who I'm playing with. I don't care for 6505's but they're great for modern metal tone.
@Kickstart187 Hi mate. The 100w head has no speaker - it is just the amp so you will need an appropriate speaker cab. Whatever you do, don't ever run a tube amp on it's own without a speaker attached - you can do a lot of damage to your amp by doing that.
now these are exactly the two amps I am entirely sure they are for me! I'm having the trouble of my life choosing one over the other! the main concern being the power they deliver.
2:40
I love how the guy to the right is starting to move really much and Chappers is sitting stone still! :D
I've ordered the HT Stage 60, can't wait :) sorry Anderton's, USA player here... wondering how it will sound next to my Egnater 4100. Needed something a bit more portable than the 1/2 stack. The Blackstar sounds great in every mic'd video I've seen though.
I know you guys tested them thoroughly and you know the thing I can't really get through my desktop speakers: which one is best suited for your average alternative rock band with gigs in small to medium and sometimes larger venues. we all rehearse in a small room with not so great expectation for bigger halls.
@KotowTV Hi Kotow! Iam courious about the HT has enough bass??!! Because ive seen lots of Mesa CAE amps on youtube but i dont know about the Fatness of the sound it generates? Can you tell me something about it?
at 6:37 you can hear when the OD 2 channel is selected, you get that usual washy noise sound. On my HT100, I get this annoying buzzing sound. its really loud. Is that because my preamp valves are warn?
I want to get this amp but am not sure whether I should get the combo or the stack? what should I Do?
Hi...I need help ! I have a Blackstar HT-Club 40. I wanted to exchange it for the S1-45w 2x12 by Blackstar. However, I heard the demos of Marshall JVM205c 2x12 and the Marshall vintage modern 2266c 2x12. You guest it ! I all confused. I'm 58 years old and I grew up with Classic rock, blues, hard rock etc.and that's what I want to play. So......which amp would you suggest ? in your opinion or comparative evaulation. I'm looking for TONE TONE TONE and durability as well as reliability. Help!
But all of them? Two of the heads were brand new outta the box a day before I got there. So bad tubes?
I have to tell Mr. Chappers that over her in the States he has an absolute twin brother named Sean,a bass player, and good old friend of mine. Everytime I see you on here I laugh. It's F' ing amazing!! Great playing too btw.
can the stage 60 be loud enough to be heard over a drum kit nicely ??
Would of been very helpfull if you mentions what Cab you were using
I have a large bedroom, would The 100 be too much? I also have to perform in mid size halls 400-600 people. looking for a AC/DC, Steel Panther, G'n'R, Def Leppard, Mettalica, Korn, Bon jovi tone through a Blackstar 412!
Hey chapters do you have any suggestions on how to set the ht 60 up for hi gain distortion (eq, presence, resonance) ? Thanks
Well played chaps. I'm in a bundle now. Been on the Market for my first tube amp. Stuck between this and Marshall MA100. the HT seems more Versatile. I play everything from Blues to Metal. which do you think would be the best choice?
this may sound stupid but can you still play through the head without a cabinet? is it a 100w amp on its own?
where is the HT venue series made???
@MrDanielf2413 Sorry to have taken so long to reply but We'd say you're better off sticking with Blackstar. The JVM are great for modern but you'll find 90% of the features over kill. AC/DC just needed a gain knob!
I have a Blackstar HT 60 Stage and I'd like to take it to the next level. U guys think that the HT 100 would be a good choice? Is there a noticeable difference in the tone between one and other? Thanks guys!
Hello! I bought the HT Stage 100 head and have doubts about the best cabinet with 4 speakers ... the blackstar is the most suitable? or a mesa boogie, marshall or other brand would have a warmer sound? thank you
@odgeUK Yer didn't think of that when i bought it the 60 watt one is a back breaker
I know it's an old demo but it definitely does not do justice to what these amps sound like in a room in person. I have the 100w head and it's amazing. I prefer it over my Mesa Dual Rec Tremoverb.
I'm interested in the Stage 60. Is it able to do some whitesnake / gary moore sounds? pink floyd clean would also be nice
Hey guys, I'm from Brazil and I would like to register to your website but there is no option for Brazil in the country section. What do I do?
does it clean up nice if rolling the guitar volume down?
What is the other pedal he is talking about that adds Mid Boost??
Which exact Celestion speakers are in the HT 60?
Right now the Stage 60 would be the best choice, but still..I cannot help myself wonder if I would ever come to miss that extra 40 w of power and a 4x12 closed back cabinet sound! I know I made this comment cause a like to hear myself typing in the afternoon over these same old issues, but still.....what to choose....what to choose...
GOOD SOUND, GOOD PLAYER!!
should i the stage 100 or the line 6 vetta ?? i need help !!
and can the stage 100 do a good metal sound ??
Question,I went to play this amp today @ my local music dealer.Since they're a blackstar dealer they had all the BS heads on display(ALL). Every head I tried had this kinda hollow almost half cocked wah sound.,couldn't eq it out. I was not impressed at all,any ideas?
@polishedbullet I thought he was with Orange?
Hey ...I'm looking at buying this head and I'm also thinking about the h/k tubemister 36 ....I wanted to know ... what are ur thoughts on this?
Depends on what style of music you play, what do you play?
Blues/rock...Some metal...but nothing too heavy ..
if it were me, I would go for the Blackstar ht 50. Because 50 isnt half of 100, math wise, yes. but in the amp world its more like 75% of 100. and its cheaper.
What guitar is that he's using?
is it full valve?
Will the Blackstar 60 combo do metal? Like Megadeth and Metallica?
whats the differance between the stage and the venue series? anyone :P
Maybe it was him assuming you didn't know what "high end" or "treble" is so he used the 'tone' moniker like it's used on guitars, pedals and some amps.
2:06 some Don Felder solo of Hotel California, right?
06:37 is that Gain noise?
the ht stage 100 or the one 100/200???
Loved the Hotel california solo :D
Head and cab or combo!!?
can I order one from u guys the ones in us are made in china and Vietnam not cool....how much extra cause customs stuff
I play and record every rock style with this amp and it does superbly. Great deal for $950 Cdn. even if it was made in Korea. No, it does not sound better than my $4000 Decatone. Nor is it built better. It just does a comparable job without worrying about theft or damage.
Thats a bad ass Strat.
In predicament! Have a Laney Ironheart 120 watt head but it has too much mid range and not as versatile as I hoped. I play progressive metal/rock and need the versatility. Is it a good idea to trade to the blackstar? Somebody please give me a good opinion asap. Thanks!
devilshaun6669 I have an HT 40 and it's absolutely awesome and really versatile as well. The only thing I don't like is that I can't switch the voicing of the channels with the footswitch, but other than that it's perfect.
Matouš Vokál THANKS for the advice! I'm putting one on layaway tomorrow! Appreciate it.
devilshaun6669 I almost feel like they should pay me for promoting their amps everywhere I go lol, but they are just so awesome!
is it a good amp for death metal?
Oh good goddess I want one!
@666XdarioX666
Oh I was curious because it has humbuckers and an un-fenderish look about it.
I have the HT Stage 100.and the head is awesome! I play lot of rock and clean sounds and its on the one hand punchy, crispy with a more modern character of marshall sounded amp. Of the other hand it has these warm smooth clean tone,. Very versatile and the ISP knob gives you a lot of extra sound opportunities. Blackstar made a real good job.
But i don't understand how Blackstar *design* their Product-features.
Example: Only the Series One had these DPR knob.
A fantastic feature for tube amps with 30+ watts.
But the Series One doesn't have a seperate tone control for the clean channel.
Only the HT Stage 100 and the Metal [sic!] have a seperate clean channel tone control. DPR would be a killer feature for these amps, cause i couldn't turn up the volume to get in a good tube satturation. And i don't want to pay >300 bucks for an extra attenuator..
I can't understand why this feature doesn't exists in all Amps up to 30+ or as an upgrade.
Or @Blackstar: if you can't do this for your other amps, the only answer must be: design failure
What cab are you using?
Egnater Tourmaster 412A, great Cab, Playing this cab since 2008
If you're looking at getting an HT-Venue amp, don't waste your time buying anything but these 2 models...the HT-100, or the HT-60 Combo. I tried the HT-60 out in the store, & I was floored by it. But personally, it was way too much for what I needed, so I ordered the HT-40 Combo, had it shipped directly to my house, & what a disappointment...very 'boxy', 'huffy', & 'muddy' sounding crunch channel. Not to mention, the Celestion speaker was a bottom of the barrel '70/80' piece of crap. It doesn't have the 'Resonance' '& 'Prescence' knobs, which really matter with the tone sculpting on these amps, because they're voiced very 'dark.' Needless to say, I swapped it out for the HT-100 Head, matched it up with a good 4x12 cab; & now I'm happy as a pig in shite.
i'd love to know if there is much difference between the ht stage 60 and the ht 100 head, have the 60 and even thugh its pretty damn good im not 100% happy with it's tones.
i want one!!!
can this play at bedroom levels and maintain its tone??????????
Yea man i have it
So I have a Bugera 333XL. Well.. I HAD a Bugera 333XL. It's sent off because it blew up after a few months. I only played two shows with it and used it for practices, which is where it stopped working. After doing research, I learned that Bugera's are always messing up. So guess who's getting a Blackstar soon? lol
...tone-y? Goodness only knows what he meant by that? It had too much tone for him to handle? Literally no idea what he could have meant. In all seriousness though EQ setting should just be glued in once place, you should tweak them to work with the room. In a small venue you might want to turn the bass down a little for instance. Let your ears be a guide. Hope that helps! - Mark
@emboliarock24 It's got crazzy amounts of gain so yes.
@fullers123321 Preamp tubes and power amp tubes yes
why, was that a wackamonkey at the beginning of the video?
Hi-gain amps, dude. Nothing wrong with it. It also might be lack of grounding. Anyway, there are things such as noise gates!
@hazthefool Hi! Ive got a Solid state Line6 spiderII 30w combo, using a vox tonelab LE and ive been gigging in a 200squaremeter Hall in Front of 100 people at volume 3 (10 is full) so i think ht 60 is a beast for sure!!!
Iam looking forward to get one but only becouse of the tone and its sound!!!
@ColossalGuitarReview We don't deliver to Brazil at the moment. That's why it's not an option in the drop down. You are however more than welcome to sign up for our emails if you'd like there are links on our homepage. andertons dot co dot uk
I cant decide between this one or the marshall vintage modern anyone?
Man... Gotta get this amp from andertons, its much cheaper there!!!
truthfully, i think the combo sounds better that the halfstack???? interesting HMM
@Delta1382 Ohhhh lol. I was sad for a second :P
Check out the Blackstar website for the new 'HT Metal series amps'! for 2013 , they look amazing!
guys can you get a high gain sound on this amp, and i mean a lamb of god sound?
A 698 pound combo is very heavy!!
pounds is the UK currency (GBP), not the weight.
Sounds like there is a lot of diode clipping. MAybe its not being pushed enough in the video. Good review tho!
Agree it craps on the Marshall
@LordOfThisWorld74 it was a joke lol, the guy from Blackstar in this vid just has curly red hair like Brent Hindes
Drew looks like Ginger Baker from Cream. LOL
you are for sure a great guitarplayer but it always looks like you wanna take a dump when you play red face this insane look and your red head take it easy man
HEELLL YES OF COURSE !
this bad boy here.....drew.....
@miguelpessanha91 thanks man :)
Only thing I hate about it is that the clean channel doesn't have a 3 band eq I have an ht club 40 and I wouldn't have touched the thing if I had known but being my ignorant self I dropped 400 USD.
@nikolajhansen15 ok cheers i think im gunna get one then ;)
Err...Stage 65? Don't you mean Stage 60?
One 100 6l6 version
i was wanting to hear od2 rhythm to see if it did metal, but you didnt play any, what gives????
your PING! was higher than normal, are you extremely happy?;-)
Sorry about my writing...I'm a French Canadian.
that guy just keeps poppin up like a bad penny!!
@Fluffykuns1 pounds = best currency nd a kl weight measurment
@LameV2 must'v had a chappacino.
