I’ve had the pleasure of driving a Z8 in Germany several times (my uncle owns it) on twisting mountain roads, and at high speeds on the autobahn, and it’s an absolutely addictive car to drive. It’s also far more beautiful when you see it in person than what it looks like in pictures and on tv.

lesson of the day: once an expensive car gets fixed, sell it immediately before more things break down. the cost of more fixes is too expensive to leave it to chance. should of sold the Lamborghini as soon as it was fixed.

I was going to comment the same. The "heartbroken" reaction to a $5k repair bill on a sweetheart of a deal that help probably make $50k+ on is cheesy and overdone. Theis channel needs a new troupe badly. When you've got a $1 million in fun cars (probably closer to $2m), the audience tends to loose sympathy with repairs bills of a few thousand as being "shocking"

@@ZGryphon that's because some already overloaded themselves on property taxes and completely unnecessary financing /leases just bc they saw their income could afford, not how much they'd have left over. When I did pizza deliver 90% of the largest mansions always gave, by far, the weakest stingiest tips.

I had an acquaintance that owned a Diablo that he loved/hated. After $70k in ongoing years of repairs, he bailed. You are heading in that direction.
That's why I'm never opposed to an engine swap or something of the sort as long as it's making it more reliable, n I get it keeping a car pure is a reward in it of itself but at what point is it too much. You're dealing with a 60+ year old car n unless you got unlimited money to spend or one of those millionaire's who puts their cars in an air tight collection never to be driven, what's the point???
Eventually this whole thing is gonna flip, with Hoovie going back to buying $200 Lexuses (Lexii? I dunno), while Wizard & Ninja post videos about their latest Bugatti purchases.

I un-subbed from Hoovie when he started down the exotic car path, the whole reason i liked his channel was the old affordable hoopties, I have no interest in money pit Lambos or McLarens no matter how funny it is to see him blowing cash on them.
If car prices crash, that could really happen.

I have a feeling that Hoovie misses the days of the Buick Park Avenue and the Chrysler LeBaron
It defies logic and common sense that Lamborghinis are undeniably unreliable and prohibitively expense to own; yet their values continue to skyrocket.
The people who buy/own these cars are part of the "one percent." They consider these cars as a good investment and the maintenance expense is small change for them.
@@boblacks945 While I am not able to confirm or deny what others in the 1% factor into their decisions, when evaluating an investment/purchase one of the factors is to look at the intended purpose of it. For me, it is to have a vehicle I am able to enjoy and not pay $5,000 each time I drive it. Just my humble opinion.

@@nickdavis6898 But he said it was the most he ever spent on a car and given the SLS was over 140,000 and the 2 Lamborghinis must have been around 250,000 together, and that a Z8 is round about 200,000 - 250,000 - it's save to say, the Z8 is in the 180-220 ballpark.
I love this channel, because it shows the true cost of ownership of cars. Granted, you buy some pretty old vehicles a lot of the times, but still... very educational.

I work in the parts department at a BMW dealership and I can attest to the difficulty in getting parts. It’s horrendous really.

Each of us who could never afford such a car collection 'thank our lucky stars' we don't have the headache of maintaining those cars. Just, tires, batteries and insurance, let alone oil changes is cost prohibitive.

Heh...that Alfa 164 has been sitting there a long time in the Wizard's shop. Exactly my experience with that car - the only car I've ever had that broke my heart (note, I've loved all my other Alfas...its only the 164 that was always broken).

I used to sell cars during 2001-2006 and our dealer had one for sale with a msrp of $134K which was double of a M5 at the time. that car was sitting in the showroom for about 6mos before someone bought it. Overpriced at the time but now a collector car.

It’s $500/shock for John Custer to rebuild the shocks with better than OEM seals. Don’t pay more than that. They are also very easy to remove and install on this car, so don’t let Wizard over charge you on labor.

They need to change their name from Federal Express to Federal We Might Deliver It Eventually
I paid extra for 2-day shipping...almost two weeks later it shows up😡😤. I now always check the option for UPS or USPS, or just accept FedelayEx.
You are complaining about package delivery during the covid scare? The scariest thing in the world is thinking about what it would be like without FedEx because I've seen it before. Just UPS so freaking expensive you couldn't afford to ship anything with them and the post office which was a little bit worse than what FedEx is now but it was your only option that you could afford.
FedEx takes the scenic route of every town in a circle to get to me. Then sits on a delivery truck for two days.
The freight airport is 4 miles from me. So, it takes 5 days to go 4 net miles.

There really should have been a $159 diagnostic fee for determining Hoovie didn’t know which way was up on the A/C switch.
Wizard already did a "good business sense" video 🤑(and is extremely thankful to Hoovie). Also, from a quick listen to this video apparently the switch was inverted from what Hoovie had been told.

I think the US must get the shizen BMW's, I have heard all this talk on how unreliable they are but in Europe I have found that as long as you service them when they should be they are one of the most reliable marques you can get. The problem is people have BMW dreams on Hyundai budgets and skip the car care.

Most Americans want to buy the most expensive car they cant afford the maintenance on, then complain that brand is unreliable when it breaks outside of warranty.
Most reliable bmws in Europe are diesels too.
But also tbf the car inspections in Europe are more stringent than US.

In the cars defense, there were only about 2,093 non alpina Z8's in the us market.
This car was probably in the $200,000 range, being the cheapest one for sale dosent mean it was cheap

@@harrier1830 little research I found that car for sale at autodynamics Houston, they had it listed for 164,899. He did say he gave the. An offer, so 159k. Sounds like a good ballpark.

Fuel sender units have a very simple variable resistance wiper circuit, mesure the e & f values and look for a similar sender
It’s probably the same sender resistor as used in an Audi or VW, just the housing and swing arm are different.

Yes, Many cars share the same parts even between brands as there are only so many component manufacturers. Of course getting to that sender may be so much labor to even attempt to find out the resistance range. This is something Sreten at m539 restorations would do!

If the struts have a ball mount each sides just measure compressed and uncompressed. Cross reference to struts for canopy and camper rear doors. I used to run a snugtop store and saw people do this often

Kentucky Clutch has been in business for fifty years. It can rebuild your BMW clutch for far less than a factory clutch costs or they can build you a brand new Kevlar clutch for about the same cost savings.
