I love my RTL. I have put 1500 miles in the last few weeks on my first ever motorcycle. I have learned so much about riding a Spyder by watching your videos Coach Bob. Thank you
I may get me one , but I have a side comment, people that speaks so clear and precise , with all the spaces and comas in between sentences, that had helped me to learn my English
Hi, I just wanted to post something today that happened to me. I was on my way to my part-time job and I was driving my RT which is a 2023. I was in the fast lane on I-80 when all of a sudden I lost power to my RT Immediately after that, the brake parking “P” red brake light came on , and my brake pedal went straight down. I was in the fast lane. You can only imagine how scared I was. I had nowhere to pull over except against the wall and there was very little room. My RT came to a complete stop. I restarted the RT and put it into first and thank God, the traffic allowed me to pull off of the freeway. I don’t know what’s wrong with the RT. All I know is I could only ride in first gear. I drove in first gear to where a friend of mine works and it will be towed in to the shop. This has shaken my confidence in this product. It’s brand new 3600 miles. All maintenance has been done. What happened? I don’t know. I’m thankful I’m alive. There was no warning signs that anything was wrong. Coach Bob any thoughts.
The Spyder went into “limp mode”. The real question is why. Definitely take it into the dealer and let them check the fault codes. They should be able to tell exactly why this happened. There have been cases in which the speed sensor was bad or ABS issues or battery fault codes. Again, they should be able to determine the problem quickly. I am sure that was darn scary and I would be upset and shaken as well. I am glad you’re ok. Please let me know the outcome of all of this. I am very interested.
I heard from a friend that if your foot is barely touching the brake the RT detects you are riding the brake and will go into limp mode. That day I was wearing a different pair of shoes that had a real thick sole. Since thinking about it I could’ve been touching the brake pedal without knowing it. Have you heard this? The dealership has ridden the RT and it did not present any issues. They are putting it on the scope on Wednesday.
RTL so much fun and stable on the road. The best part is the storage. Love being in the wind with my husband. Can't wait to see the trailer fixed and you can both be on the road.
CoachBob, that was an awesome video. I really appreciate you going over the differences between the Spyder trim levels. My girlfriend and I are currently doing our homework and looking at possibly purchasing one of these machines in the near future. Thanks again!
I believe that the Sea to Sky also comes with the belt tensioner on it already and they other RT models don't Great Show Coach Bob you really do have a way of communicating Hope to bump into you and Coach V one day 😂
Speaking from my purchase experience of our 2022 RT Limited, I urge anyone considering a purchase to lock in your price early. I did find a dealer who had some wiggle room in MSRP. The reason for locking in your price early is to hopefully lock in the commodity fee. When we put our deposit down it was $400 and I believe it increased twice throughout the model sales cycle. We were spared those increases. Check with the dealer first for program details.
Great job Coach. I don’t think you missed a thing. We have an 18 RTL and are very happy. Probably upgrade in a year or two if the supply issue calms down and inventory improves. I ‘ve heard great things about the sea to sky seat so probably leaning that way. Love that red Marcella chrome. Hope things work out for you and Coach Vick for Deland. Linda and I will be at the Comfort Inn just. Down the street from OB’s. , Love to get a meal with you guys and perhaps a ride. Prayers for your daughter. God Bless.
Well Coach Bob, we pulled the trigger and picked up the 2022 RTL in Silver and black. What can I say, just love the bike. Had to get a taller windshield to help with buffeting for the wife. I’m 5’6” so I’m getting the swept back handlebars from the F3 which will allow me to utilize the backrest. Got the top cuff from Lamonster. They’ve been wonderful to work with. Just got back from an 1100 mile trip through the high desert in Oregon, and the pan handle of Idaho. The bike purred like a kitten. Thanks for all your info as I relied on information I learned from you to make the purchase. You definitely steered me right. Keep filming and hopefully we will see you on the road.
I just took delivery of a new 2022 RT Limited Chrome edition, I was prepared to move to the Sea to Sky but discover that it no longer includes the luggage or the back rest that used to be included. If you are convinced that you want a Sea to Sky based on what you are seeing mentioned on line make sure you check with your dealer, my dealer here in Canada has been left with a few still in storage because they are not moving like the Limited models are. As mentioned, there are substantial waits for parts to finally put the new machines on the road, my new 2022 wasn’t available until mid July even though the machines were on site since the spring. Hope for you guys that it’s going better south of the border.
Three items I noticed Coach; RT Limited also comes in a matte black color, you couldn't order chrome finish with petrol metallic color (I don't know why, but you couldn't on the 2022, which is why I went for a Sea-to-Sky), and the Sea-to-Sky no longer comes with any luggage (like the 2021 did) and no longer comes with the backrest (BRP did issue me a credit for that because it was standard when I ordered my 2022). I am very happy with my Sea-to-Sky and have since added the Baja Ron sway bar for improved stability (our roads in Quebec are crappy), center front LED lights and side LED flashers on the front wheel covers for increased visibility. I enjoy riding because the journey is the destination. Cheers Coach!
I bought use and love both of or Can Am Spyder limited. My wife has a 2015 and I have a 2020. We have not had to wait for parts, but honestly we have not needed much.
Good info Coach. Prices have definitely risen. These prices are why I sold my F3-L for more than I paid for it 2 years earlier. Great machines and mine was trouble-free.
Hay coach I think most people were wondering if they would come out with something new other than paint. I think you did one of these this time last year. You could have copied and past. I have no doubt you have helped someone out. Thank you for the information.
I have a 2020 RT Limited I love it I just wish they would put a better motor in it for touring in this day and age. You should not have a high revving motor when you're touring just my thoughts.
I love my Can-Am 2016 spider RTS, considering buying another one of thing I don’t like at the price point Can-Am should have more color options the SEA-to-Sky Only comes in one color Here and Chicago you pull in somewhere there might be 20 to 30 Bikes in the same color, other manufacturers do at least 4 to 5 colors
No GPS? No passenger back rest available for the Base model? (I will not have a passenger with out one for safety reasons. My current ride is 2014 RT-S - will retain it and not interested in new model at this time. Good video === thanks.
Outstanding info Coash Bob, thank you. Checked out the first Sea to Sky, felt like I was setting on top of it where as the RTL I felt I was setting in it. Was told at the time (it was in NC) that the RTL was extended 1 1?2 inches for the driver and 1 inch for the passenger. Liked that but was the guy just talking bull I don't know. But I did feel better setting on the RTL.
I've got a 21' RT Limited Dark Edition and I love it ! Those wind deflectors are worth every penny!!! 👍 I had a 15' RTS SM6 and it is definitely an upgrade in comfort and it tracks better in the curves in my 10k opinion.
Took a test ride on a 2022 Sea to Sky, liked the seat and how it took the bumps, RRTracks etc., then took a one year old RTLimited on same roads, it didn’t ride as smooth as the Sea to Sky.. if suspension is the same, maybe it wears out way too soon
I mentioned in an earlier video, my reservations regarding buying a new Spyder. I think that after this video and seeing prices, I have additional concerns. First, if BRP wants to actually grow, they need to get service centers going around the country. Until recently, I lived in western Colorado. No service centers at all. I had to bring my Spyder to Denver to get it serviced. There are only two service centers that I know of in eastern Colorado and I've been to both. One seems to be well trained and the other is questionable. If I pay $30k+ for a vehicle, I need to be able to get it serviced when I need it, without a waiting list and as close as I can to where I live. Second, they need to look at their business model and fix the problem areas. Yes, availability of parts is a problem for everyone, but just observing BRP in general, I think they have a lot of internal issues that need to be looked at and hopefully the rest will all in line. I love my Spyder but I kind of consider BRP to be a somewhat risky investment at the moment.
I agree with you 100 percent...I worry when we travel.. I always know where my closest service center is. But, if they can't get parts..well you're really stuck. Thanks for watching brother.👍👍👍
A great heads up Coach, many thanks indeed, I had thought Id be joining the 'spyder owners club' this year but issues outside my control & local dealer make this now doubtful & more so big questions remain how to keep it maintained once its in my possession. I live in hope but question when we slipped into third world country status. Take care Coach, wishing yourself & CoachVic health & happiness.
Hey CoachBob. Love your videos. I got my 2022 Spyder F3 a month ago tomorrow actually. I love it! But it's in the shop because I got the transmission fault on the screen. I know it's a different model but have you or anyone you know had that issue? I'm a new rider and like I said I JUST got my spyder.
My experience is that it's usually just a computer glitch. It's happened twice more in addition, though, as I was unloading it from a Stinger Trailer which they make specifically for Can Am. Depending on finding level ground to unload it, it sometimes gets stuck as I back it off the trailer. The Transmission Fault light comes on and there's no transmission working. I just rock it side to side and that, so far, has fixed the issue. I spoke to the Dealer a couple of times and they say it's just a glitch, don't worry about it. Hopefully, they'll have you rolling soon!
Hey Coach! Great video I am looking at purchasing the RT model you made it real clear on my decision my question is, In the glove box where the USB port is, can I play music through that USB port that is in the glove box? Thank you!
Yes you can.. What I have discovered is the USB is best for charging and then using the bluetooth connectivity for your music. For me, it has proven to be way more stable that way. Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@pepeschley143 i can’t definitively say…based on my experience…I would say no. The BRP app is used when your phone gets plugged in.. it then accesses your music. Based on that…I don’t think it could read a thumb drive.
I loved my 2020 RTL all 21K miles until it put me down suddenly and now I cannot get it repaired. Started apparently when I was forced to drive on some small asphalt covered gravel in a road construction zone. The bike began acting funny and then seemed to run oK for several days and then began making a sound when changing gears. One day while on the road working in the middle of nowhere it began making awful noises and then a loud pop and then zero power. It was the middle of one of those 95 degrees plus days in the middle of nowhere. Called CanAm roadside service and took them almost two hours to determine where I was located and ordered a pickup. By GPS I was 52 miles from home and it cost the 200 paid by CanAm plus on the spot 247 more to get towed to my home. I asked about getting towed to my dealer and was quoted over 1K. Sat in heat along the country road until almost 6 pm. Towed home without incident. It took me almost a week to get trailer, find a suitable winch, etc. before getting the bike to dealership. Was told belt was broken, etc. Of course anything that can be construed as "wear" is excluded from warranty. Go figure folks! After several days of calling dealer I am informed that parts for repair will be almost a thousand dollars and later another eleven hundred or so for labor. The saga continues when I'm informed the sprocket needed is not available and I also found out this is the same part currently the subject of a multiyear safety recall. I have heard several estimates that "maybe" by next spring the part will be available. So here I sit! I would welcome any suggestions! At this point I'm not sure I would purchase another Spyder given my understanding of the service problems that seem widespread. I purchased the extended service policy which has covered services until now and am staggered at the prices that show on the paperwork. I also purchased the 3 yr warranty extension which at this point seems rather useless. It is an awesome machine when running well but company support in general seems quite lacking.
These are the stories that frustrate and scare all of us. I am sorry to hear about this. I really am interested.. I hope you will keep me updated as this saga unfolds. I pray it all gets resolved quickly. God bless.. CB3
I'm sorry this has been your experience which I find totally unacceptable. I've had Ski Doo sleds, and honestly did not like my experience when I had a warranty issue. BRP does not seem to care at times about standing behind their products or that by doing the customer right will lead to future sales. Based on my experience I am still open to buying BRP products, but definitely not new (don't like their dealerships). I know buying used that I am taking a risk, but I'd rather take that risk than be in a situation like this person and also get hosed by BRP. BRP makes great innovative products, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired, the communication b/w dealerships and corporate is problematic, and the support for the product (enough dealerships with enough trained techs) is lacking.
Great question…on the RT standard it is manually air adjustable. There is an air fitting under the seat that you load based on the weight you’re pulling.
Had a 2018 F3-LTD...And had a driver come out of a gas station and hit my right wheel...(about 25mph!) Totaled the bike and broke my fibula. I've been looking at RTL's. Have found a 21 and a 22 model...23's haven't made it to my dealership. I'm not seeing much difference between the 3 years, other than in paint color. Do you know of any differences between the last 3 years of RTL's? (not looking at S2S). Thanks!
Coach, I'm getting ready to purchase a 2023 RT LIMITED. Question...do you know if you can take the back storage box off the 2023 RT limited and replace it with one of those panels that cover the back fender? I know it doesn't come with the Limited, but I see it can be ordered.
The RT Limited comes with the back box only... you have to buy the fender cover. The cover looks great .. but that rear box is amazing for locking up your helmets and other items while cruising around town. Congratulations on your new Spyder.
@@CoachBob3 Thank you for your response. Yes I definitely like the back box, however, wanted to know if I had the option to take it off and put the fender plate on (temporarily). Can you send me the link to your cellphone holder?
@@AASparkChaser is there a video on how to do a oil change? Shucks looking at the bike is easy, taking panels off is easy. Easy is giving my sports bike an oil change it doesn't require me to put it on a lift or jack it up. Spyder on the other hand requires much more than that my dear and I'm pretty much in need of visual detail💜
@@AASparkChaser Oh yes, after the first time it comes easy, just thought it would be a good subject for those who would like to learn. To me, it was getting the torx and allen drain plugs out the first time and not wreck the plugs, then change them out for the Lamonster hex plugs.
It's too bad you pay all this money for a vehicle that seems to be growing by population and it benefits those that love riding but disabilities deter them but to get parts or service may frustrate a buyer if they do not do their homework first and by this i mean when warranty on parts and service is up what is this going to cost me and am i better off buying used and slowly customizing to my liking .Great video , Peace.
O.k. On the sea to sky 2022 the trunk bags are not include , don’t think they’re included on any sea to skies any more which is a shame, the color of my sea to ski is that misters blue which looks black, I didn’t like it at first because I thought it would be that nice blue color one I bought my wife. It looks black in the shade but in sunlight it’s blue , I wish it was a shiny blue that way the glitter in the paint would show plus I had to wait a few months before I was able to see it they had to put it together from a crate I bought it in march but finally got to ride it when I picked it up in may it is October now and I have a little over 4,000 miles on it and love my bike and I’ve been riding motorcycle for 42 years now but to be honest if I was to do it all again I would buy the RT Limited I really like that blue in the sunlight. Sorry I made this so long😂 your Can-Am buddy in arms Anthony Parker.

@@CoachBob3 I’m sorry I was not clear with the excitement about usb, I meat can I use a thumb drive with music on it sorry for the confusion!
@@pepeschley143 i can’t definitively say…based on my experience…I would say no. The BRP app is used when your phone gets plugged in.. it then accesses your music. Based on that…I don’t think it could read a thumb drive.
The RT only has 4 speakers and the limited has 6 speakers. Hi coach Bob
👍👍👍👍. You are correct... thank ya sir.
great video
Thanks! I appreciate it.
What is hill assist ? We have a 2021 CanAm RT Limited .
It is supposed to keep you from rolling backwards on a hill when leaving from a standstill position.
I hope you compare the difference between Ty and f3 models
Hey Bob, I have a 2020 RTLTD and thought there was a hill hold assist but mine does not hold!!
I am going to see what I can find out. I am curious what the BRP actual description of "hill hold" is. When I find something out, I will let you know.
Coach Bob - who's the sailor in the picture on your wall? Retired Navy guy asking...
That is my son... he's a submariner in the World's Greatest Navy!!! Thanks for watching.
What is the rear suspension on the RT. Is it adjustable?
Great question…on the RT standard it is manually air adjustable. There is an air fitting under the seat that you load based on the weight you’re pulling.
Had a 2018 F3-LTD...And had a driver come out of a gas station and hit my right wheel...(about 25mph!) Totaled the bike and broke my fibula. I've been looking at RTL's. Have found a 21 and a 22 model...23's haven't made it to my dealership. I'm not seeing much difference between the 3 years, other than in paint color. Do you know of any differences between the last 3 years of RTL's? (not looking at S2S). Thanks!
Shaw and kelly smoak are in the adds.look for the guy with the gray beard.
👍👍👍
Bob, are you changing your own oil yet, that would be a good subject for your channel.
I'm waiting for that video as well cause these oil change prices are brutal
Oh yeah, I know.
It is easy.
R they built any better then the ryker becuse I have a ryker 2022 n it was a waste of money 💵
Can-am have some new wheels posted for RT spec
It's too bad you pay all this money for a vehicle that seems to be growing by population and it benefits those that love riding but disabilities deter them but to get parts or service may frustrate a buyer if they do not do their homework first and by this i mean when warranty on parts and service is up what is this going to cost me and am i better off buying used and slowly customizing to my liking .Great video , Peace.
Will Coach my name is Gregory and I am about disabled person 1:26
Open air freedom
LOL. hahahaha.....
I appreciate this comment...thanks for sharing your experience with us!!!👍👍👍
if the stars align and by the grace of GOD i should be driving up to tampa power sports to put a deposit on a RTL.
Did you pull the trigger on buying one? If so, are you happy with purchasing it?
