I have one of these at my work rec room. Has one or two problems that you've identified for us here. Thanks for this.

do these cabinets have cooling fans in them? might be worth using a core drill on the rear back panel and modding in a powerfulish fan to allow cool air into the cabinet and prevent the computers from nuking themselves. either way great video and i look forward to see if this issue is fixed, (i have a soft spot for PC based arcade hardware when it goes wrong)

That was exactly my plan. They do have fans but they are too dirty. I’ll just replace them. It will definitely help.

@@MattyMosArcade I'm not sure which fans to recommend but I'd go with the industrial Noctuas as they're powerful and very quiet, otherwise just a standard San-ace or Delta fan should do

Sounds like the power supply isn’t kicking on, or has had it.

There's really no point on getting parts for that particular motherboard because they were always prone to failures even when you purchase a used unit. Also the side panel is mismatched assuming they had a Drift Computer that was used for parts to fix that FaF game. It is not a Dell, They call them Microtels which Raw Thrills soon replaced them with Dells back in 2007 because the support for the Whitebox Vendor was Subpar and made the parts much more expensive than getting a whole new Dell Optiplex 740 Computer for the game that lasted way longer than the Whitebox Vendor. Also they used 512MB of memory/ram as a minimum capacity for the game which caused many issues like Low on Virtual Memory. If you upgrade the memory from 512mb to 2gb it will not give you those issues and the performance would be even better.

Yes thank you. Also, I totally forgot about the memory issue. Ran across that a few times. The Dells I never really had as many problems with. Also, I’m terrible at removing caps from a mother board. Bad technique. Lol

@@MattyMosArcade When local operators brings their Microtels in that are either broken where they can't solve it or wanting to upgrade the computer itself I usually give them an offer to trade their whitebox computer for a free fully working Dell Optiplex computer for the game with a new set of recovery discs which really helped them get their game working fast as possible. With so many operators replacing FnFs with Cruis'n Blast can be really annoying but the FnF cabinets would go to people like me which can fix them up and sell them in a day or two when the original owners/operators could've used those benefits or investment towards other games instead of throwing them out. And yes sometimes replacing caps are always a pain and most of these boards are usually e-waste material which electronic recyclers are willing to get even if they have bad caps. The Best motherboard as a replacement for an FnF Microtel computer would be either the AsRock N68C-GS FX or AsRock N68C-GS UCC with an AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor/CPU and for the Video Card would be an EVGA/MSI Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS 512MB or Any Brand Nvidia GeForce GT 610 1GB (Which is the Latest) They both require PCI-E X16 Slot and the Software Version 3.00 or 3.06(Latest). You can always look these parts up and they are really cheap but it would do great for the game.

They are fairly common pc’s but are very specific models

I’ve got a machine that boots the pc but not the game, I think its missing the BIOS file, can you please help? Thanks!

There are recovery discs that you can run, and that will fix the hard drive (most of the time). Also check the battery. If it’s dead, you lost the settings. You can use a keyboard to access the BIOS and Power management settings.

It’s a 2032 disc battery on the PC motherboard. I did a couple different videos on it.

Hello I’m electrician and I’m new to arcade games I just bought the same fast and the furious arcade game you are working on I bought it from a barbershop for $200. me and my buddy got it working but the screen starts moving side to side and blacks out and says no signal all the time The sound seems to be working properly. They were told it was the back light but I don’t know why the back light would be broken if it works every once in a while you know what I mean? Please let me know how to contact you for more information you are awesome thanks.

There is no backlight. If it’s going in and out, it sounds like a connection issue.

@@MattyMosArcade Is there anyway I can send you a video somehow so I can explain it to you and then you can kind of give me a couple pointers and I won’t waste anymore of your time!

When I troubleshoot these computer arcades, I pull the pc's and hookem up to a pc vga lcd with the side panel off and go from there. Such a PITA to work on these things while they are still in the cab.

Agreed! I have a tester card that plugs into one of the video card slots. It’s pretty helpful, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. Through me off a little.
