Thanks for the arcade machine repair videos. I have learned lots. In fact I wish I still had my Missile Command cadet cabinet, the midsize one with the wood grain finish. I have only seen 2 so far, the one I had and the one you fixed on this show. With the skills you have showed me I know I could of fixed it. Great work Dude.
Thanks!
This was one of my favorite games I remember playing it at Hills dept store in Greensburg pa
The first game I ever remember playing (or watching at least) was in the lobby of a Hills department store in Charleston, WV. It was Ivan Stewart's Off Road and an Ikari Warriors.... Those Hills stores were something
I especially like your side-art fix, so cheap & effective !
Ha joe. Great work. Like your tale gate lift real handy. Thanks Bob.
Man thats my childhood right there one of these sat in front of my small town walmart for years and I just realized you don't see that anymore times just suck anymore man what I wouldn't give to go back to the 90s early 2000s
Ladies and Gentlemen...another fine episode from American Pickers comes your way..i know its gonna be a good one coz i seens it 👍😉
So true. Bought a broken bottom of the ninth for fifty bucks, got it home, and all I need to do was turn brightness up and it works fine.
would love to see a walk thru of all your inventory! love the vids so keep em coming!
Thanks for watching!
Great work Joe. When it comes to arcade games,…you’re the man. Very entertaining, even for someone like me who doesn’t play arcade games. Thanks for posting.
Congrats on the pickup! Awesome liftgate! Thanks for sharing. :)
Hey Joe!! I've bought a few dog cabs and piss cabs. If they're really bad inside, Kiltz then paint can seal the odor or you have to replace each offensive panel. But, I usually part out a piss cab. Sad but true.
Good work brother.
Thanks Jason!
Let me tell ya something brother, I’ve been in the fire service for a while. Little over 20 years to be exact. I know that smell you’re talking about bud. As soon as you mentioned it, brought back some memories of a recent house we went to, to carry someone to the hospital. Couldn’t see the floor due to all the trash and well other things in the floor. In the words of Skynyrd, Ooooo that smell, can’t you smell that smell. Surprised a bunch of water roaches (German cockroaches) didn’t come running out. Not sure if you all have those in the Carolinas.
Joe you are the man. Thanks for saving . Sidenote I got a MACH 3 standup that needs some work. Going to be contacting you in the near future.
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Nice job!! Always Brice to see skilled guys like you save these games
You can remove the top on that Fluke meter, it is wireless communication between the screen and the meter. Then you can take the screen with you, and leave the meter connected, if you shall adjust something away from where you connections are.
now that's fancy!
Great Job Joe keep does video’s coming.I have learned allot from seeing your videos👍🏼
Love this channel!!! Thanks mate!!
Nice setup on the truck.
I would love something like this.
It would be fun to own and play.
Crusin USA is a great game. Good job, guys.
Unrelated, I got curious and looked up "zero-crossing." That has to do with the time that AC current is neutral, neither positive nor negative. To detect it, it is just a full-wave rectifier, an optocoupler, and an inverter. In their case, the inverter is just a transistor and a pull-up resistor. Now the reason pinball machines need that is to know the ideal time to flash multiplexed lights and throw solenoids to make things last longer.
As for the meter, well, that is the nice one that is detachable. That way, you can focus the camera on the detached portion no matter how the meter base gets moved around as you use it.
And yes, I agree with your overall strategy here. Replace the things most likely to go soon, so recapping and the flyback if you have one.
I found from another channel that you have to watch on changing the flyback, that you use the original part and not a cheap knockoff. Most people think "blooming" is in the CRT itself, and I guess it can be, but often, it is the flyback that is responsible. A guy on a retro channel played with an old Commodore monitor and an old Atari monitor. They used the identical motherboard in the chassis, just that the Commodore one was populated more for more connectors on the back. The Commodore monitor bloomed, but the Atari one didn't. He first tried swapping the board to rule out the CRT and the blooming moved with the board. Then he moved the flyback to the Commodore board and the blooming stopped. Then he changed the rather new aftermarket flyback on the one doing the blooming with another aftermarket flyback. It still bloomed, but not as much. So you have to watch where you get the flybacks. Some of it is just Chinese junk, and some is just good enough.
Great work guys keep up the best work u guys do love the vid I enjoy u guys and learn alot from u guys
love joe vids, hella cool seeing a master at work 😎
Awesome I just Did both mine I used Red T Molding
Great video and happy Sunday from California.
Nice rescue
Happy Halloween
So sweet! One of my favourite N64 games!
The video's thumbnail reminded me of the Seinfeld Frogger episode and made me chuckle. Thanks!
Nextime I get a Frogger I'm going to try to recreate that scene haha
I started using AT or ATX PC power supplies because they hold up longer are usually higher amp than switching power supplies and are easy to find.
I would take that thing to the car wash! LOL
Fluke makes good meters. I have some older ones that are just work horses and just keeps going as long as you don't go wild with it.
Overall, it was in very good shape! That's surprising with it's age. Side art cant be helped, but you knew the proper fix! 😂
Looks like a fun game, and a great rescue.
Just a note to anyone doing this. When pulling the chasis from a monitor, always check the HT is discharged. I am sure Joe did this off camera before yanking the chasis. This is pretty critical unless you want a nasty zap.
That lift gate’s a life saver.
back saver
cool!. my parents had 8 ball and 8 ball delux when I was a kid...memories..
Joe. Great channel. How did you end up fixing the side art on the cabinet that was damaged? Just wondering the process? Thanks.
aside from being filthy, that Cruisin' USA in actually good shape. a simple arcade game flipper can get away with quick and dirty flips. get game functional, look semi decent list it, sell it get paid now it's the buyers problem when something goes wrong. preventative maintenance goes a long way
One of my favorites ❤ looks like it was in the worst place😢
Hey Joe...they also told you that the display detaches, didn't they (whomever "they" is)? That way you could put the display where you can see it even if you can't put the whole meter there.
There are a lot of Juice for this item, one just needs patience in servicing the item, back into its tip top shape. it can be ENGINEERED to be at par with the time or Incorporated classics with Ltd.Tech.™, ®© Rough and Tough but thoroughly GREAT!
I grew up in a filthy home and I prefer not to dwell on it. I do know dust can get away from anyone.
Voiceover from Shango066: "come to flavor country" (that's how shango describes years of smoking residue stink on old electronics.
I played this game for ~45minutes before taking my drivers license road test. Passed. No regrets. I would love one of these for nostalgia.
btw, do you ever get any Pachinko machines from Japan? I have actually always wanted to play, but there just isn't any in Canada. Wondering if more get imported in the States than up here. I'm talking about those fancy video ones and such too... like the ones you see in the Fast and the Furious movies in the large saloon type businesses lol.
I think it would be interesting to try to make one, but... yea.
I wish Midway would have continued to use that plastic access panel to the monitor for easier service and discharging.
That looks a lot better after the cap kit and the new fly back
Hey Joe thanks for the cool videos.
I am good with computer boards but new to vintage CRTs. Do you have to discharge electric from a crt gaming monitor like a crt tv before taking it apart to work on it.
Keep up the good work.
Yes, any CRT needs discharging
Good job, thing looks good
27:32 oh no, you most definitely made the right decision. When you first fired that up, the mic picked up the high pitched whine of leaky caps. Recapping and installing a new flyback is most definitely the right decision.
The New Zealand Amazon link is apparently broke🙄
I wrote to Jeff about it, Haven't heard anything back yet
Enjoy the videos guys. Thanks much!
Love the Cruisin USA. Guessing the black rolling bar across the screen is just from recording? Eight Ball Deluxe, played it a lot too.
Yes that is just from the Camera
Was that black paint on the foot rest ? i feel like truck bed liner in a can would last forever
Nice. There's one fr sale near me, but it's $600. Not to mention the entire headache of trying to transport and set up the thing. And biggest of all, the missus in the house will run ME over if I brought it into the house at all.
Matt, how can you tell if an arcade monitors is combined positive sync or combined negative sync? I haven't seen any videos lessons of you showing how to measure the combined sync signals
WTH o0 First place on the first try. I know it AINT Ron playing! :)
I really love your videos
Hey Joe, do you know if any way to fix that speaker feedback when booting and during it’s game preview? I have a refurbished unit that does the
Same thing even with new speakers and matching impedance.
Not really, it's just a noisy design, it would be hard to get rid of it. They were designed for arcades so when they made the board they didn't isolate everything so it wouldn't have any noise in it, since it didn't matter how noisy it was...
@@LyonsArcade this helps thanks man. Great video. Great game
Great repair video joe your truck is not in that bad condition compared to the game 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Fluke meters are the best.
66 split window!
I was just about to say it before you said thats what a certain guys channel calls a Craigslist rebuild.
Every time i click the link to buy the shirt its nowere to be found on the page , is it sold out ?
You have to email us for payment info. Thanks for watching!
5:50 quick an dirty 😂
"My brother Donnie made this/constructed this for me!"
Is everybody related to Donnie in that shop?!?
Yes he’s my brother Donnie
Ronnie is the eldest...then Donnie..then Joe..3 very talented brothers who are very close...im the eldest of 3 brothers too but mine dont wanna know me
Great job on the repair. That thing was nasty. How do you even get that amount of dirt on the back like that? Put it out in a dust storm one day? :D
24:10 was this a few days later? If not I'm surprised you didn't get lit up by the high voltage.
Maybe for the smells you could put a ozone generator inside the cabinet and throw a tarp over it and let it rip overnight. I bought a nasty car and did that for 4 hours several nights with a cheap generator off the jungle site and a USB battery pack. Took a while, but eventually it killed 95% of the smell. Still a little dank on the first few hot days of summer though....
Good Idea
Sounds like you needed a hazmat suit. Looks great now.
Hi Joe, i havea cruisin USA game i have an issue when i turn on the game then after the screen glitches and reboots, would you know what causes this? i reset everything and no luck thanks
Power Supply is probably low, you'd need to check it with a multi meter to be sure, dirty edge connector could also do it
:) I had to buy a toliet bowl flapper repair kit from Amazon.
Thanks Ken!
Don’t forget the double pump cheat on the gas pedal in tight turns and on straight a ways.
I always chose the Cop car.
I have been in homes when I was a service tech for a city in Texas that were so bad that I had to run out from the smell. I have seen people who had trash piled to the ceiling and pathways cleared through the filth. How can anyone live like that?
Never liked the plexi cover on the rear with 20 screws. Alwaysvan event to get to the chassis.
thats so funny when somebody cuts the cord off means you are about to open Pandora's Box.. but hey a bargain is a bargain no matter what the outcome maybe
Soap, water and a scrub brush and a microfiber. Easy clean.
The damage and smell is from the dogs
Yodelayheehoo
Hello Lil Everette!
What’s with all the scratches? It looks like it was keyed.
Looks that way
Pure vandalism. Sad!
It's Broke, unlike the dogs at the last spot
I have seen the same first person. Pits everywhere
Think they had to demo the house
You didn't discharge the tube?
I'm very comfortable with Monitors and have Taken Monitor Chassis out of machines probably a few thousand times, usually everyday I'm working on a monitor
K7000 and newer actually have a bleed down circuit that discharges the tube
But it is a good Practice to discharge all tubes, I usually just Discharge the older ones tho like a g07, 4900, Sanyo the ones Without a Bleed Down Circuit
Do as I say, Not as I do :)
@@LyonsArcade Appreciate the explanation, Cheers :)
17:45 Darwin Award attempt…
a little dust is normal, but some houses are a real sad place. some times you wonder how they even take care... i think i would pressure clean that seat tho.
I used about a gallon of 409 and several rolls of paper towels, unfortunately we don't have a waterhose hookup at the store. it cleaned up pretty good
Yes sir
Truth..dont try and fix on the spot. I got an IGT Double Diamonds Slot machine mint condition for 300$. Lady waid it wont take coins and she wanted it gone. Got it home... comparitor was loose. Locked it in place...works like new!!! Worth WAY more than 300$
How come your brother never shows himself loved your channel just curious though. 😊😊😊😊
He's on witness protection..he can't show his face plus that's not his real voice neither
SAVE
It will come on not sure if it will work or not
Lol That's what it's like when you do business with the neighborhood crackhead!!
???? The First few runs may have come without wheels but later runs of the Cabinet Did have wheels. I've seen that Cabinet Delivered brand new straight from Midway Arcade. Maybe it was "region" restricted or may have just been more popular option in some areas over others but that was an option when they were selling them back in the day. Crusin USA and it's later versions are just the most popular late 90's - present Arcade cabinets to present in America. Literally they released a new Crusin Cabinet just a few years ago a year or two before covid hit.
I've never seen a USA with factory wheels, The World and Exotica came with wheels tho
@@LyonsArcade if I'm remembering correctly it's actually a re-release version they did to cover for either world or Exotica not performing as well. They also Charged extra for the wheeled version so they might be more rare in your part of world.
1:07 lol, and,,,, then for some reason you never heard from him again..
What is the wattage of the soldering iron you usually use in your repairs?
We use a Weller WESD51 and love it, usually keep the temp around 600 or so if that's what your asking
Thanks for watching!
@@LyonsArcade thanks for your reply.👍
You never showed how to fix the side art scratches.
His dog could have chewed the cord.
Better open it up and let the critters run out first
I prefer compressed air...ppssstt ppsssst ppssstt.. all done..
Poor guy will see this vid and feel sad you talking about him like this 😔
ok
This is pure 100% neglect!
I know what's wrong with it.
IT'S BROKE.❤️
