    We grow ours in the ground in zone 9. We've had them in filtered light for many years. We give them a deep watering with a small amount of SEA90 once a year. It helps to concentrate a high amount of minerals near their root zone and most of the "bad salts" wash away during the year due to heavy rains and evaporation factors. They only need to be covered in late winter when temperatures drop below 40. Occasionally we'll top dress the soil with mushroom compost mixed with crushed pine park and they love it. Of course, they hate standing water but love rich moist soil and filtered light. So it's best to plant them in an area you can control certain factors that would otherwise relate to their demise.

    How do you prevent the plant from rooting into the ground?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  Рік тому +1

      That's a great question. For some reason the plant has been on bare soil for many years and not ever rooted into the ground. I do move them around so that might be preventing it. They seem very happy in the pot. Possibly the roots stay in the more acidic potting soil. Outside the pot the soil is more alkaline. That might be the reason.

      The Pine Bark is sometimes called Soil conditioner so read the ingredients. If you don't find it don't worry. Use 50% Peat Moss and 50% Potting Soil for the container. For seedlings use regular potting soil and a deep pot. They have a very long tap root. Seeds can take 45 days or more to germinate. I always start Miracle Fruit seeds in as deep a tray as possible.
