“I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well, maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2016. However, despite not being able to walk for a few weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and try to practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…we are all specks of dust…Also, thank you for all your support. It means a lot. I have suffered from anxiety from the past and self-confidence, (yeah hard to see now right) didn’t think I was ‘good, or worthy enough’ but I feel I have a new lease of life, don’t really care as much and want to show you guys what I have! : ) You are all awesome and without you, there would be no channel.

when you hear her during interviews she is like this tiny quiet mouse with a very soft voice, but on stage she lets everything out
came here to say that ... it's like as strong and "hitting" (as in you feel her story and voice get to and through you) her singing voice is, when she speeks she's got this soothing calming voice
When I went to go see her in Boston, someone gave her a bouquet of flowers on stage and every time she would go to speak to us she’d go and grab them and she called them her anxiety flowers.
I just ind how she just has this big belting voice with so much power and passion to just be so fantastic, and by far my favorite vocals from her were from the concert in Boston.
It was the opening act and it was the song June, and instead of doing the sweet and angelic progression in the song she transitioned to a more rock vibe but still kept the whole light and angelic feel to it all. Not a lot of people recorded the concert but if I can find it I’ll post it here, her little shy self was just as amazing as the vocals.

I’ve been there too!
In my opinion she has one of the strongest vocals of our generation. Her voices literally make me cry occasionally. She’s is like a holy choir in one person. I was always curious why other vocal coaches don’t react to her more, maybe it’s cause she nearly perfect. Her vocals are like breathing for her. It’s insane. Her live performances always kill too. ❤️🤘🏻

Edit: I literally fell in love with Florence and the Machine in 2010. (Eclipse soundtrack, "heavy in your arms") Florence made me fall in love with music again. I'll forever love them 4 this
When she first started singing live people criticise dher left and right. She did crack here and there, not surprising as all her songs are so vocally demanding, but she has come a long, long way and deserves to still be talked about after the hype of Lungs died down.
technique wise that's not really true but like emotionally absolutely. she has such a great way of expressing her emotions with her singing its insane. every florence welch song makes me cry

And just as a note, for a long, long time she struggled with alcohol and she's a very anxious person so she would drink before her performances (especially pre-2015). This latest High as Hope tour is her first completely sober tour. I adore her so much. I got the chance to see her during this last tour and she was an absolute goddess.

I've been hearing that a lot with different performers. A lot of them have a kind of stage fright.
Honestly if Florence never put out another studio album but they were all live or acoustic recordings I would be satisfied.

No no no, I need to blend my Florence as I listen to her nearly on a daily basis and sometimes I just want to whole madness over the top instrumentals. But the live accousitic versions just stick with me, her voice just cuts to the heart. I dare people to find a Florence song I dislike

Blackguard I think the longest she’s held it was 29 seconds. But I mean still impressive and I’ve never seen anyone else hold it close to that.
The “calling out” comment you made about her is so accurate! Somebody said before that it’s almost like she’s singing up and outwards towards god/the heavens/etc. She’s just very spiritual and ethereal and you can see it when she sings and performs. She’s so amazing, i have so much love for her

Her vibrato is INSANE. Florence fills me with so much emotion, I get tears in my eyes sometimes. Her voice is IN-CRED-A-BLE. It's unearthly, angelic.

Every time I hear that high note in “shake it out” my eyes get watery even when I’m not paying attention to the song and it’s just playing in the background.
I've seen Florence twice in concert, and she was spectacular each time. The entire concert she was running and jumping and dancing while belting her lungs out, and it takes an incredible amount of skill to be able to keep that up for hours. She is phenomonal.
Her being a vocal lioness is actually the best description I've ever heard used to describe her...gonna use it...

She's the only singer that I LOVE to hear scream. During the Lungs era, she's admitted a few times that she had no clue what she was doing back then and was shouting more than singing. I watched a video of her doing Cosmic Love live recently where she said as much about her old lack of technique. The song was so different than she used to perform it during like 2009-2010 but it was still really enjoyable.
Her voice is so much different on her first album compared to the rest. Still, I'm glad she learned to properly sing so she can keep her voice for years and years to come!

Not only is she probably one of the best vocalists and performers, but the lyrics and emotions that her songs are so heavily steeped with. Her lyrics are like homing arrows to my heart. She’s able to pick with absolute precision the emotions of my heart.
I saw her live last week and she sounds even better when you’re a few feet in front of her. Don’t know how’s that even possible.
Florence + the Machine songs are definitely some of the most difficult songs to sing

I had the joy of seeing her live and she’s even better in person, it was a religious experience. In a long flowy dress she sprinted through the entire stadium with security guards chasing her during delilah. she then got up on a seat right behind me and killed the belt in delilah. I cried.
Thank you so much! I'm a big fan of her since day one. Not only is she a great performer with beautiful vocals, she also writes all her songs by herself and coproduces them. The lyrics are so deep and poetic. And I have Tickets for her concert in munich for thr "high as hope" tour

Every time I listen to her I can’t help but to imagine and picture all these other female singers around the world listening and then just walk away and go start looking through the classifieds for a new profession. Just being like “well, so much for that. If that’s singing then I don’t know what the hell I’ve been doing!” lol. Her voice mixed with such a unique and fresh sound that’s unlike anything else that’s ever been played is why they are so amazing.
Just picturing a row of singers each doing the note they’re capable of and then picture her darting and pouncing back and forth onto each one of their spots.

You should react to Lorde's Vevo performances. They are transcendental. That being said, Florence is easily and simultaneously one of the best and most underrated artists of our time. Her voice, lyrics, and sheer presence are all ephemeral. Nothing short of real magic.

i love that you mentioned how you would describe her as a lioness bc in her natal astrology chart, her mercury sign (which rules communication, and in turn her vocals) is in leo! leo mercuries have very powerful voices and are performers so it makes sense :)
I love that you noticed her mercury placement.
My mercury is on the leo virgo cusp and I used to have a voice that summons. I'm working on finding my voice and resolving the past trauma that made my voice and breath as weak as it currently is.. I'd imagine that's something Florence is working on as well. I notice a selfjudgemental tone when she speaks at interviews
