Thank you for taking my request for Spam tasting 👏🏽🙌🏽💜 I'm glad they enjoyed it and each mans suggestion on how to eat the spam was correct... Spam is a poor mans meat... it is minced and salty (but you can buy low sodium) this is a staple food in every Hawaiian's home but many people in America love it too. It's eaten for breakfast lunch dinner or as a snack... made with sticky rice and seaweed, or made as a sandwich, served grilled with scrambled eggs, folded in roti or tortilla, cubed and tossed with vegetables with rice or noodles... or just eaten alone just like these good men have tried it. 👍🏼🙏🏽💜👏🏽🙌🏽🌺 also it comes in different flavours like bacon, garlic, turkey, beef. This was great

@Julz Munkton I had a feeling this was the beef version because I was going to suggest they try it as part of a "spam & eggs" breakfast a while back. I checked online to see if there was a halal version and that was how I found out it existed.
Then, I saw the pinned comment where Mr. Akbar (or Mr. Sajid) clarified that it was indeed the halal version. I generally assume that anything served here on the channel is halal because they're also Muslim and I can't imagine they'd ever give the guys something that wasn't.

When I first moved to New York a long, long time ago, my friends and I were all "starving artists." We had Spam parties and everyone had to bring a different dish using Spam. Spam omelets, spam with spaghetti sauce over pasta, spam quiche. Some were good; some were downright disgusting. I made the Rack of Spam that I found in an old cookbook - slice the spam accordion-style down to but not through the base, stick a slice of velveta cheese in between each slice and bake it for a bit. I served it at a party recently as a joke and was surprised that all these New York sophisticates gobbled it all up.

Since you have halal Spam, you should do a tasting video with New Jersey's famous breakfast sandwich. You can use Spam as a close-enough substitute for the pork roll/Taylor Ham.
Put two fried eggs, American cheese (you can use Colby or cheddar as well), and five or six slices of the meat on a roll.
Slice the Spam about twice as thin as you have it here, and fry it up until it starts to get a little crispy. The eggs shouldn't be scrambled, but break the yolks when you start frying them so they don't make a runny mess in the sandwich. Not scrambled eggs, but more like mixed-up / swirled eggs, lol. Put the cheese on the eggs after the last flipping, so it has a chance to melt.
We also like to make Spam and cheese sandwiches with a mustard on them (served on a roll, too) for lunch or dinner, so Mr. Chaudhary was not far off at all!

Canning meat cooks it more than cooking it directly. It's perfectly safe to eat straight from the can for that very reason & commercial canners use retorts that get up to a higher level of heat & pressure than we can with home pressure canners. It's the pressure of the steam that kills botulinum and expels all oxygen so no poison toxins can ever be emitted by living botulinum.

Spam contains six ingredients: a mixture of pork and ham meat, salt, water, potato starch, sugar, and sodium nitrite, a food preservative added to bacon, hot dogs, cured meats, sausage, and smoked fish. Aside from adding potato starch in the 1990s, Spam's recipe is relatively unchanged.

SPAM is very popular in Hawaii and I got used to it while I lived there. I actually enjoyed after a while.

I JUST had this for the first time a couple days ago, fried. Taste, like, well, like it's edible. A spicy mustard certainly helped.
The texture however, huh...um, yeah, that experience is probably going to stick with me for a while... let's go with... unique. Not meat-like, Not exactly Patè. Just, crunchy outside and disturbingly soft interior. 🤔

@@Hannah-um2uz I mean, yes, I pan fried pretty thin pieces, 1/4" thick, nice, golden , crisp, but the inside was off-putting to me.
That said, for the price, if you want meat in your life, and on the shelf in storage, well, it's good for that.
Perhaps an 1/8" would be better though.
Buy one and see how it goes, when you get it crispy, its basically bacon at that point. :)

I like it right outta the can, between two pieces of bread. Here we have spam spread, which is perfect spread on saltines..while fishing lol. A perfect snack. Fish with one hand, eat with the other if the fish are biting. That's fun!
