i like this bc i think lots of people feel like heat damage is just when the hair has NO curl. it can also be when your curls aren’t curling the way they usually do.
Exactly!
True. I think the no curl applies to looser hair and the second applies to coily/kinky
@@emmanuellao2248 not necessarily. Kinky/coily hair can have straight pieces as well
@@kateo. yes especially if a LOT has been done to it.
@@deborahestmable3726 it could be manipulative damage . because that’s what’s wrong with my hair. it’s very thin now due to breakage and the hair elasticity loosing form
A tip for getting braids, DO NOT blow dry your hair for them . Do a a twist out instead to stretch your hair. I had my hair dresser braid my twist out hair instead of my blow dried hair and it was SO much healthier when I took the braids down, no thin scraggly curls 🙌🏽🙌🏽 try it
Only problem with this is, a lot of these “new age” braiders with all the requirements and deposits won’t braid hair if it’s not blown out or damn near flat ironed or they’ll charge you extra 😒🙄
I’ve done this and it helps. I suggest combing it out with a little olive oil, or conditioning grease once the twist dry so that the stylist doesn’t have to comb through the coils to style your hair ❤️. Just a small amount of oil though!!
@@justcoilsnolye they just wouldn't get my money then!!! 😒 YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER TH?!
Great idea thank you!!!
Tried they dnt listen
Thankfully the damage is not significant! That is a blessing! But also, this new camera quality sis.... here for it
Oh I commented before I got to the end. Danggggg..... definitely try a protein treatment as the next step, if you haven't done one in awhile. All the best to you love
I gotta admit it's pretty dang impressive how supportive you are of your fellow natural hair youtubers. I've seen your comments on several vids. Makes me enjoy your vids even more sis🙏🏾
@@baabsannIt’s important to watch each other and show love ❤️
@@SheReaDelSol lol i was definitely thinking before she said it “she should try a protein treatment”
Your hair still looks great. I think the culprit was using the flat iron at 450. Hopefully it’ll bounce back to 100% with a protein treatment and extra care.
My standards must be too low because I thought the twist looked fine. 😭
Same sis
Same
Sameee
🤣🤣 I was thinking the same thing
nah cuz same
I know I'm not the only one loving the new bathroom backround. #hairjourney
I was staring 😍😍😍😍 the colour and the echo tells me it's hella spacious. I'm so happy for her.
@@emmanuellao2248 definitely super happy for her
I’ve noticed over the years as our natural hair gets longer the curls and volume change
This is true.
Yup. Also some of us have the weird rando patch of hair that refuses to behave like the rest of your hair. For me it's my nape that decided when I was born to be type 2 wavy while the rest of my hair is 4c. Makes zero sense. This patch will not curl unless I finger coil it with strong hold gel. It gets stretched out by puffs and buns. 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🙈🙈🙈
@@marleyhill34 Girl I completely feel this. The front section of my hair acts like it doesn't wanna curl and I know it's not heat damage. I think it's genetics cause my sister's hair is like that too. I'm trying to refrain from putting my hair in puffs and sleek buns but when my twist out is old those are my go-to hairstyles.
@@marleyhill34 SAME!
@@marleyhill34 same! That nape area🤷🏾♀️
she’s having the moment when you’ve been acing a class and then fail a test. it’s a horrible feeling cause you know better & you can do better. i have faith that it’ll get to where she wants it ❤️❤️
I’m struggling with heat damage after four beautiful years of being natural and that’s exactly what this feels like 😭
I relate so much to this as a top student who's been having lots grades recently
Exactly
This comment right here I needed to see
Same. I usually pass all my tests but recently I’ve been struggling 🥲
Please don’t ever let a stylist say you HAVE to blow dry your hair for it to be braided. If your hair is going to be cornrowed they might want to stretch it a bit if you hv dense hair but any other excuse is unacceptable.
I've been banned permanently from braids unless it is a braided wig. Lol! Trichologists said, "braids are not for you unless you have 2 or 3 French braids". Smh. All those years my mom been cornrowing my hair and damaging it.
@@marleyhill34 It’s different for everyone. I’m 4c low porosity, and cornrows work best for me. I keep them in for four weeks, and my hair grows so much!
@@comfortbrown913 Yes I'm saying what the trichologists said to me specifically.
Facts! I do a lot of quick weaves and wigs and i when i wear those i dont blow dry my.hair at all. I wait till its mostly dry then apply conditioner and seal it with grease and then just braid it up. This is literally what has helped my hair grow because there's no heat and after a month of wearing my hair in those braids theyre still full of moisture when i take them out to wash my hair
In my head I said “girl what the f*ck is you talkin about” 😭
Honestly 😂
I said it out loud. 😆🙃
LMFAOOOOO
Haha
Nah fr.. it looks great

Thank you, you too ❤️
I love how she say her twist out is looking trash...I can't even get my twist out to that level 😭😭
Fr I’m over like I WISH😂😭
@@Msanonymouslady that’s tuff lol
Right....
Yes.. lady I’m with u.. my twist don’t even look that good .. ☺️
@@Msanonymouslady my hair is a nice voluminous medium afro. As soon as I do a twist out, all the volume disappears. I have 4c hair but ultra-fine strands that just twist down to about 3 strands on my head. Lol! I flat twist the front to stop me playing with it and French braid the back or wear a head wrap. I'm too old to be messing with my hair and scalp. I'm nearly forty and I'm trying to keep my edges and my crown and what little thickness I have! Lol! We all know middle aged black ladies with no edges.
Quick inspiration for you all - Remember that God placed you where you are at this exact moment for a reason. Your current struggles and challenges mean something. Whatever your going through , God loves you to much for it not to work out🤍💫.
I agree. And when I stopped letting ppl braid my hair, I had better results
* watching you wash your hair instead of me washing my own hair knowin damn well my wash day is wayyyyyyyy over due 😂😂😂
This spoke to me wayy too well 😂
Lol! I detangle out of the shower before shampoo and then again after deep conditioning with heat and applying my leave in and a detangler. So I sit and watch streaming how ever long it takes.
Lmao omg same 😂 what’s a shame
I’m a week overdue myself! I need to get my life 🤦🏾♀️
Omg u just called me outttt 😳
JUST NEED A PROTEIN TREATMENT I want you to see this please help her see it
She could try henna hair tea. If you consistently use it in place of water when moisturizing your hair, it'll strengthen your hair tremendously and get the curls behaving right
@@anissageddes6034 could you elaborate on this? bc i wanna do it and i got the henna😂
@@anissageddes6034 interesting. I’m gonna try this cause I’m getting into Indian hair regimens and I’m picking up my items this week! So this was the perfect timing for me to see this comment.
@@OasisNaturals.s I’m guessing they mean: steep the tea as normal. Idk what temp you like your hair washed in but maybe let it cool to your desired temperature? And then use the tea liquid IN PLACE of water. So you’re using the tea liquid to wash your hair - to wet it - instead of using water....but I could be wrong lol😅
Now every time I hear “my hair..” I say “it don’t move” 😂😂 you have beautiful hair Isi
🤣🤣🤣🤣😩😩😩😩
It 👏🏿 don't 👏🏿 move👏🏿
YO IM DEADDD 😂
I really love how wholesome this is. Isi always shows us the good with the bad. A lot of other you-tubers don’t do that, and that’s why I have so much respect for her.
This whole video is a sign I need to stop slacking on my hair
Fineee
Same !
Need to simplify wash day if you find yourself putting it off. I'm like if the salon and trichologists can do my hair in less than two hours (a silk press is 2.5 hours) why am I taking a whole dang day to do my hair. Friday night 6-8pm 9 pm I'm ready to go out!
@@marleyhill34 I totally agree.
My wash day used to be lengthy until I realised I was doing too much for no reason at all. Now my wash 'day' is just under an hour, maybe an hour and a half if I choose to do a complicated/unfamiliar style but It really doesn't talk a long or much work and my hair doing better than before.
@@irrelevance3859 Under an hour is great! I only do that in the summer with wash and gos.
It's the fact that sis "worst" day is a lot of our best days 🥴....Excuse us ma'am 🥲
RIIGHTT! Like dang, I would be on top of the world if that was even my daily look😩
Love this hair tho😭
The natural hair QUEEN 👑 is BACK 😍🥺

Not for long tho
@@christiankirby9650 ikr 😅
I’m happy you showed how you can have a bit of heat damage even though it still curls!
It’s the new apartment background for me!
When you tell yourself “ it’s cool... it’s cool “ that’s when ur really pissed deep down lol 😅
It may not just be the heat girl, sometimes when you’re hair grows out it doesn’t look the way it did when you had short hair. I know for me my hair at bsl doesn’t hang the way I like when it was shoulder length. Realized after a while i can’t have length and the shape I prefer it’s one or the other
Oh yeah because as the hair grows out the curls stretch more
Accurate.
Yeah but I doubt that’s the case for her because her hair has already been long
@@zay-zay3 yes is true I had the same I thought heat damage
@@zay-zay3 wdym??? My hair is short/medium rn and i love my curls I don’t want them to stretch☹️
I'm glad you did this type of video, seeing you want to still manage the care of your natural hair and showing the imperfections (despite you always looking amazing) is honestly comforting and inspiring. For you to not be like other influencers who make it seem like they always have good days and it's so easy to just grow healthy hair, it's like a breath of fresh air. Love you so much!
I peeped it but I assumed my eyes weren’t trained enough😭😭 #spillit
Same, I saw the little fairy knots too

@@toitsumup4480 I have a 3C and 4A curl pattern, but her ends look just like the rest of my hair lol
I have 3B , 3a, & 3c
@@Zellie_nessa ok thx. ❤
I felt this video because over a year ago I dyed my hair and didn't realize how different it made my hair and now I feel like I'm transitioning again. I also didn't take care of dyed hair like you're supposed to either. It sucks.
Had the same experience! I ended up doing a big chop again, because my hair had changed so much. However, there are some good hair masks for damaged hair that I did feel helped during my transition period.
I was/still am kind of transitioning a little bit. At the end of 2019, I gave myself some heat damage and it’s really bad in the front, but not so bad in the back. I can’t do twist outs, only braid outs😪
Yes a lot of people tend to neglect their hair when it's colored, but colored hair is a lot more maintenance
girl sameeeee it made me so sad, my hair had tight curls now they aren’t so tight🥺 it’s slowly getting back to what it used to be.
Same sis. Same
I’ve had the same issues with my hair, I started drinking a lot of water, sleeping, trimming, and deep conditioning (not with store bought products) more, and stressing less and it went back to normal after a couple of months. Trim, trim, TRIM. It really helps
Isi maybe you should try an intense aloe and avocado protein treatment to improve the strength and health of your hair?✨
UA-camrs always freak me out with their hair. I'm like sis if I did that my hair would get up and leave and my scalp would be on fyahhhhh!
@@marleyhill34 rightttt😭
So glad that there is very little damage. Here for the journey! Learning so much, especially what to look for, and how healthy hair should react. Thank you so much ! Your hair looks beautiful, and will bounce back to the way you like it in no time. Love the color pink on you, very beautiful. 💙💜
She knows. You just know when your hair ain't acting right. My starts to tangle for absolutely no reason. Then I reach for my professional shears or take myself off to my Aveda stylist and let him trim out that mess.
this is definitely giving OG halfrican beaute vibes 😍😍
You’re energy changed , like you don’t even love the natural community anymore 😩😩. You were definitely hair goals . My favorite natural hair UA-camr in 2016-2018
I just be chopping my ends too now in twist. After the initial big chop, it doesn’t bother me as much. Healthy hair over length and once you see growth, you’ll understand that it’ll grow back!
I don’t think you damaged you hair. I feel like it just needed that wash day to get moisturized & back to normal. it always takes my hair a couple washes to be what I’m used to after I style it different for any length of time
Repent Jesus is coming soon and no one knows the minute or the hour. God loves everyone and wants you to surrender your heart to him he loves and cares for you. Hope y’all have a blessed day🙏🏽❤️ p.s. I’ve been waiting for a natural hair video girl 😩

Pink is such a pretty color on you!✨
Yayyy!!! First natural hair video on her new/ improved channel in her new apartment in her new bathroom.❤️💕🤪
I love how transparent you are about your damage. Although it’s not bad 💙
yea.. i can tell the difference in your hair but its not gonna take too much to get back to #poppin just do it girl! you got this!
Omg I'm so in love with the qualitttttyyyy
Giiirrrlll please don't leave it for a month and a half during wig season giiirrlll....
Curls still popping sis..😍
Rite i had to cut mines bc the truth was it was damaged
Well girl you just gave me the motivation to trim my ends too! I did a protective style and my hair was actually looking really good afterwards until I shampooed it😫😭😭 shampooed and my ends were READY to go!
#spillit but i wanna make a hypothesis, i’m going to guess it was
1. back to back heat
2. the weather (like wind and cool air)
3. not feeling motivated to wash
4. possibly lots of manipulation
And or all of the above. And not getting a trim with professional shears. And wetting hair before detangling after a protective style. My hair would be like Girl Bye!
Give your hair some extra TLC the next couple washes so the curls will return to their usual behavior.
Yeah those curls need moisture training. Stat.
@Antoinette Bonful tender loving care.
@@marleyhill34 how
@@gertrudekoduah4638 my trichologists gave me a moisture regimen. Weekly shampoo with a gentle sulfate. Deep condition weekly with a hot towel for 20 minutes. Daily apply your leave-in detangler lotion and your heavier cream leave in conditioner and wrap in a hot towel for 20 minutes. No styling products. My hair is super moisturised after following this regimen for just one or two weeks and curls be popping and super defined even though I've used no styling product.

#hairjourney
I’d definitely say this new set up is banging! Sis the journey never stops! I’d definitely say some good protein treatments, or also some bond treatments, along with a smooth transition will do the trick
She had me shook when I saw the title😭🤚🏾
I felt your pain and frustration on such a deep level! Last May I had about waist length hair and I cut most of it off because I saw the damage. People were pretty confused but I could just tell that my hair wasn’t the same. Some things I’ve been doing since then have been using the Aztec Clay mask, hot oil treatments and keeping up with my trims! I’ve also done the maximum hydration method (OnlyOneJess’ way) a couple times and I’ve seen a difference in my hair. I’m definitely on a growth journey too tho because... 🤭 I miss my length!
#spillit #hairjourney !!!
#newhairjourney I missed natural hair content girlll!
The volume on day 4 is stunning tho 🤩
Curls are still there but we know how those twistouts usually look. I'm here thinking about this title and I was like what does Isi means. Then watching the video made it clear. It's another #hairjourney to be apart of. You'll get your hair back. Just trust the process
For me it's the skin,I mean how can someone's skin look this flawless? I love it and the hair is just the icing on the cake
With that new intro.... girl I see u mama I see youuu👏🏾👏🏾♥️
Your beauty, the camera quality, the background just PERIODT 😍
I think the return of wig season is for the best. We love seeing your natural hair styled, but not at the cost of your gorgeous curls. Your hair will come back healthy and better than ever!! We are rooting you 💜
That only works if she is taking care of her hair under the wig. I'd prescribed deep conditioning every week and protein every other week and it will bounce back (no pun) in no time. Juicy curls need moisture and if you don't put that moisture in daily or weekly with heat, you going to have problems especially with colour.
This is exactly why I started practicing doing my own hair. Every stylist is different so it’s best to just do your own because you know what you’re doing to your own hair.
ok but DID U GET ANEW CAMERA CAUSE THE QUALITYYYYY✨✨✨✨✨
Yooooo i swear girl my hair has been doing the SAME!! Like my hair has not been acting right, so im glad im not the only one!!!😭😭😭😭 we on one together!!!

aw Isi is so pretty 😭😭
the RELIEF i felt when you shampooed it
Mmmn I can feel the disappointment coming through and lowkey I appreciate it because sometimes it be like that and it’s not always perfect and that’s just life and I want to be one of those to say the transparency makes you more real and not just some woman on UA-cam you know so it’s appreciated and don’t worry hun you’ll get your hair back to what it used to be and even better. We Appreciate the real you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your hair has grew longer since last time I saw you. It's been year now lol love it. ❤️ 😍 💕
Something is different about it for real.

#hairjourney i feel your pain Isi... i'm going through the same thing with my hair, but after watching this i'm motivated to get right back to putting the work in to get my hair right again! we got this!
Yess. We’re on the same journey. Lesson learned. We got this though. I’m here for the comeback!!
Your skin!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️Can we have an update skin routine please 😭😭✨✨ #spillit
Lol I feel like you say this every single time you neglect your hair 😂😂😂😂
I am on my hair journey too, trying to get my length back
Girl I promise you just need a good protein treatment to help strengthen your hair more. I neglected protein for so long and my curl pattern loosened a lot and then I incorporated protein slowly into my regime and I have seen a hugee difference.
Come thru, shower in the background!!!
This gave me motivation to trim my ends and nurse my hair back to health😩 it’s been way too long!
I had heat damage before & everybody said that my hair looked fine but I definitely felt a difference in my hair
Omg! When you took your twists out I was like, that looks really nice but THAT is not what YOUR twist outs usually look like. I’m excited to see this hair journey because it will be proof that if you do the work, you can achieve your hair goals, even if you took a break from your hair for a bit. Thanks so much for posting this video!

You’re beautiful still isi!!!! Long, short, perfect & flawed! We love to see it all 👌🏾💙 thank you for being TRANSPARENT ✊🏾🖤🤩
Your hair probably just need to get back into the swing of things. You may need to use a clarifying shampoo then deep conditioning. Rice water is a good protein treatment after two uses you may see a change. Love the Aaliyah shirt 💕
I felt this so hard sis, ever since I got this job I’ve been neglecting my hair soo much it’s been in ponytails and I haven’t been wearing my curls and I did my curly hair routine one day and GURLL I wanted to cry 😔😭
Sameeee
I’m wondering if your hair “forgetting” how to act in a twist out is part of the issue (since it’s been a while since you wore one). I think the idea that hair has memory and just gets in formation with a particular style when you do it regularly, and can forget how to do it when you take a break from it, carries some weight. I’m experiencing this now with my twist out after having worn braid outs for a while.
Aside from the damage im loving this new quality in your new place! the bathroom is nice
sis try doing that deep hydration method. Its a long process but its worth it
I do a short cut hydration method that my trichologists gave me. It involved steaming the hair with leave in for 20 minutes daily and steaming the hair weekly with deep conditioner. Plastic cap and hot towel or a hooded dryer or hooded steamer or a heat cap. Sis might be low porosity with product and hard water build up. I saw that she loved house. Some homes don't have filters.
You had me worried on your other video think you was bald headed or something; but thanks for the transparency and reminder to not sleep on hair care; our coils deserve the effort
