Great video! I fully agree there's an almost ineffable way the soundtrack and implementation really cuts to your heart. Loved your phrasing on refuting "you don't matter" to "you ARE matter", you could have made the whole video on just that idea. It's such a succinct way to summarize much of the emotional core of the game. Man, I love this game so much, people like to argue whether games can be more than a product, and like film/tv the amount of financial risk puts a massive hurdle there to not just make the easiest thing to sell. What Mobius did here deserves to be a huge inspiration on what you can even do with the medium.
Okay, I don't generally talk details about Outer Wilds because it's my favourite piece of art ever and I have a lot of respect for the game, and I don't want to spoil the experience for a potential player. But I think I'll break my code here. I cried at the end of the DLC when the entire story of the antlers, origins of the Nomai and how our little hearthian got there is revealed. The game has scared me, excited me, confused me, frustrated me, enlightened me, made me reflect on life, it has done everything for me. Absolute masterpiece by Mobius studios.
I completely agree with you! This game got me through my darkest moments. Absolute masterpiece! And the soundtrack 🥹🥹🥹 every single time I listen to it, it brings back all the nostalgic memories I made while playing this game.
Just added this to my playlist of favorite Outer Wilds video essays. Stellar work! Quick question: why did you choose to enter from the opposite side of the stranger than where you initially start?
So kind! This comment made my day. I’m really proud of this video. Honestly I have no idea. My first time entering was the normal front entrance. For the recording I just followed the same steps and ended up on the other end! I didn’t know you could choose which way to enter.
@ Yeah! If you go from the side facing away from the sun, you’ll get an even more dramatic and tense entrance. I suggest checking it out if you haven’t!

Well said. This game is a game for the sake of itself, not for money. I wish more large companies would see the importance of this.
