That is a seriously beautiful suspension kit. Well done to Alden.
nick viner Aldan American makes great coilovers!!
Love the Doberman!
Thank you thank you!
i love old classic cars. i cant wait to see this baby move under her own power and roar like she did back in the day
Thank you! That video is coming! Stay tuned!
@@Theoldcarchannel. It is gonna be beautiful!!!!!!!!!
Great Old Ford. Don't you just love it when folks view your videos, your work, your time and your budget, telling you what you should have done! Keep up the good work.
Happens everywhere in life... I'll read it, but doesn't mean I'll listen to them lol! Thanks for watching!
Aldan setup looks great
Very nice kit! Greatful they were willing to work with me on this project👍
What a nice kit. It really cleans up the front suspension and I like the adjustable shocks so you can tune the suspension for what ever you like to do with the car.
It really does, and the adjustability is great! Haven't played around with it to much but so far so good!
I did all that laying on the ground when I resto-modded my 67 convertible back in 2005! So this spring I'm building a new garage addition with 12' ceiling and two post lift! No more worm crawl! Nice work!
LOL, he probably thinks there is something wrong with you talking to yourself!! My Lab was following me around while I was mowing with the rider, and it started raining. She started barking at me!! Probably telling me to get out of the rain. They are so funny. Can't wait to see more stuff, good work man!
Thank you, much appreciated! Hahaha aren't they just great! Dogs are the best! People who have never owned a dog just don't understand...
Didn’t comment on all parts of the build but been watching all and enjoyed watching all videos. Great job thanks.
1967 was my first time seeing a Mustang 2+2. I was 16 years old and saw man sitting in the street just burning rubber in one, a 289 cu in 4 spd, forest green, I was impressed!!
Hell yes! Love these stories!
That's a really nice suspension package with those front coil overs. sweet.
Someday I’ll have a classic. Mopar, Chevy, or Ford I’m hoping. What you’re doing is the exact extent of what I want to do to my classic when I get one.
Keep working towards getting one, and don't let anyone steer you away from your dream of owning one!
I like the fact that you're not doing the cosmetic work. Leave that to someone else. You're just getting it in perfect order. Really enjoying this build. As a side note, we used to love Lincoln Electric where I lived in Cleveland. The company shared their profits with the employees which we loved. They had been in business for 50 years back in the '60s. So the company is like 110 years old. Plus, they used a lot of steel which my Dad sold for Republic Steel Co.
She's gonna be cool ride! Can't wait to see her up and running :)
Thank you, she's been running before in episode 3 but she'll be driving shortly! Stay tuned!
Superman Speed , if only we could get it done like that hey . Awesome work
I know right... would be nice! Maybe a few clones as well! Cars would be done in no time!
I love this project! Mad respect for fighting through the exhaust work! Tedious and difficult, but so nice to have a clean install! Great job Mike!
Awesome work my friend...you really are putting in the time to make this old girl fantastic again.
Trying my best! Thanks for tuning in, appreciate it
Awesome fastback Mike, it's perfect and she's going to handle on rails! My grandfather had a 67' fastback GT clone w/ sway bar and 289 4V C-4 combo. Unfourtunately it was stolen from his driveway in broad daylight back in the early 80's, it was an irreplaceable car for sure.
Thank you much appreciated! Sorry to hear about your grandfather's car! Sounded like a killer ride!
Nice video! This series is helping me through zoom and quarantine lol. Cute dog too
Haha thank you, glad you're enjoying them. And thank you he's great
Love the pony car! Thanks for keeping the Texas plates on it, kinda looks like home.
Awesome, need to add coil overs to my 67, thanks.
Definetly check out the link in my description! I'm pretty happy with them! Also very easy install. Only modification needed is to enlarge the 3 holes for the shock cap on the top of the shock tower
WOOOOOO... i swear every time i see this in my feed I just get so damn excited xD
Haha appreciate it! More to come! Stay tuned!
@@Theoldcarchannel. good I was hoping you guys wouldn't sell it (:
We don’t see any builds like this in Australia,,, job well done
I want this car it’s my dream car
Not forsale but thanks
Looks like you are doing a great job bringing her back
Trying my best!
It's looking BEAUTIFUL!
Love the videos, from Zimbabwe
Thanks Gerald!
It does an old man good to see you making such good progress. I cant wait to see you going. What a blessing that they sponsored you with a great suspension.
More videos coming shortly! Driving very soon! Stay tuned!
I wish i found this earlier, as a mustang lover from switzerland that can't work on cars like you guys can (everything is too damn regulated), this is the closest I'll probably get to participating on a build!
Lovely work man!!
Well done
good job nice car!!
Thank you!
Yay to Aldan American !!!!!!!
That's a great find men.
I would buy a cheap sand blaster and clean all that metal first...then undercoat...but that's just me...cheers!
Very nice car and hope you do well on the tour.
Thank you!
Love the Mustang videos !
Thanks Paul!
Pretty fancy shocks!
Thank you! They're pretty sweet!
Mike great job on the exhaust! I hope you make it in time for power tour! That will be cool if you get it done! Good luck!
Yess!
whoahhhh
I think it would look better if you first sand blast those parts that are near the new shocks... still nice work!
Looking good
Thanks Ray
I hate rusty under chassis,s,,wish this had been shot blasted and undersealed etc ,it's such a cool car !
Light surface rust deters you? With a quick sand and spray it would look fine... except I dont have time for that at this time
@@Theoldcarchannel. Ospho
@@Theoldcarchannel. I agree looked pretty clean to me.
Impressive!
Thank you
Man, so good videos, keep up the great work.
Thanks Filip
Hell yeah!
Gotta support the community! Keep up the awesome work man🤙
Been watching all the episodes for this series and it’s AMAZING man 💪🏽💪🏽🔥🔥
Thank you, truly appreciate the kind words!😎👊
Love your vids and editing! Keep em coming
Thank you Tonny, will do! One coming shortly👍
I wouldn't install new parts until I heard it running.
Haha that was one of the things... I installed all the new parts yet had only heard the engine run once (back in January). I left myself with 8 days to figure everything mechanical out with the drive line (engine and trans). Which will be showcased in an up coming video
Another great Video from your great mustang. I Can t wait to hear your selfmade exaust. The coilsovers looks awesome. I hope you Can read and understand my Bad school English. I left school in 1989. And this is the Rest from English in my little brain. 🤣🤣 Greetings from germany
Thank you Casimir! Can understand you loud and clear! Next video will give you a taste of the new exhaust! The Aldan American coilovers are beautiful pieces! Stay tuned for the next episode!
great video series keep up the good work
love the classics brotha keep grinding!
Thank you, always grindin!
I did a mustang 2 racing ifs on my 65 coupe. Looking at qa1 coilovers but those aldan shocks look and have good specs. Buying those instead
Right on! Make sure to mention my channel 🤙
I want to see the blue 66 too!
It'll make it's way onto the channel sometime this year
Firewall is between engine and passenger cabin. Divider behind rear seat is a bulkhead.
You gotta mention Vice Grip Garage as well man!!
Ah!!!! Dammit! I'm just so use to saying the 3! I mentioned him and Deboss Garage in the description
Doggo just wants to be included
Damn that stang looks good
Thank you! Much appriecated!
Nice video. Nice Stang. Rev.
Thanks for tuning in!
Mike
Why are you working out in the gravel driveway instead of garage? Would lv to see you continue on this Mustang!
Garage is full of cars... and I know "why not move a car out?" The reason being is because if i wanted to use a hoist I'd have to move 3 cars out... and I just don't want those cars to be sitting outside in the elements. So on the gravel drive way was the only option really. Move videos to come, stay tuned!
Nice 🤙🏻🤙🏻⚡️
Thanks🤘
LOVE watching your network since you have been kind enough to reply back towards me! Never had a Mustang any year but it is enjoying to me watching you rebuild this car one section at a time! And of course 1st. starts in Duck Eggs and Mopar porn! aug.3rd. 2019 6.58 am cst USA TRUMP 2020..
Great to see the disc brakes going on, at least it's going to stop on a dime and handle really well. After the power tour are you going to dive into the rusty bits with a bit paint?
What about the actual first start in 44 years??
Part 3👍
With the tri y's shouldn't you have been able to buy a "ready" H pipe then go from there? This is what I did with mine back in the 80's. Bought the int and tail pipes to go with a couple $19 a piece Thrush turbos. 2" pipes but it is all I needed for the mild build 289. Actually ended up sounding a lot better than I thought it would. Nice shock kit.
I have no idea, I'll have to look into it! The reason I whipped something together quickly with what I had was because of my time crunch. One day she'll get some nicer exhaust🤘
Nice new shocks. They look good. You'll only know how after you've driven it though. The kit fitted reasonably well too. I'd be tempted to move the Rear flexible brake hose away from the exhaust. it looked like its sitting a bit close to the arch pipe . looks good.
andrewkiwi1 we have a set and they are great. Highly recommended
On my 66’ I set the knobs 1 click under half for the front and half way for the rear.
Thats exactly what I have set as well!👌
nice!
My boi benkahan getting his name around.I’m tryin put same thing on my 66 mustang
Gotta help others grow! He's a great editor/ filmer! Always enjoy watching his videos. The Aldan kit is nice, easy installation, very little modifications (drilling the holes for the shock tower shock cap larger). Bolts right to the factory control arm as well which is great!
this car would have been worthy of a full off the chassis restoration.
Nothing looks worst than new parts against an old car body. As long as the parts are off why not clean and paint stuff. Really doesn't take much time.
Keep watching and you'll realize how little time I had
Mike, are you going to the Woodward Dream Cruise on Aug. 17th.? Your in Toronto, correct? That is only a few hours away. A few blocks from me, will be a Mustang corral. Also on the 18th, the Mustang Owners Club of SouthEast Michigan is hosting a show at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn. I think there web site is "www.mocsem.com". Shoot me a reply if your going to be at any of the events here. Howard
Good Morning Howard, you are correct it's about a 5hr drive... unfortunately this will be the first time in 6 years that I won't be attending Woodward and the headquarters show on Sunday! Really bugs me as I'd love to bring the 65 Fastback but I'm actually going to Europe around that time. Hopefully next year I'll bring it down! Keep in touch, Mike
@@Theoldcarchannel. Mike, Europe sounds fun... hope it's a vacation and not work. Have a great trip. Howard
Love your choice of the vehicles Ford's that is and you're exceptional choice in dogs Doberman Pinscher I've had three of them over the years no dog and I do me no. Beats the Doberman there'the greatest dog the whole wide world
Amen to that! People can show me other dog breeds all day long... but when someone shows me a DOBE! GAME OVER! Best breed hands down, I personally will never own another dog beside a dobe... and it may sound odd but other dobe owners understand!😉👍
@@Theoldcarchannel. I understand very well my men my last Doberman live to be 16 years old and that's un heard of he just died six months ago I'm looking to get another one in the very near future you have a great day my friend thanks for your reply back take care of
@@josephtaverna1287 sorry to hear about yours passing away... but 16 is an amazing life for a dobe! Our last one was a heart breaker passing away at 5yrs old. The healing takes time and they can never be replaced but the time without one in the house was awfully quiet. Hope you get another one when you're ready! Wish you all the best!
Mike
I personally like my Cocker spaniel Chloe Marie!
At Mike Mustang Man! I like Cocker spaniels Best!
Did the mustang make it to the Power Tour?
How do you like the new shocks? How did they perform? I have a 1965 fastback c code 289/2v
Sorry I'm late cool vid btw
Thank you
Where did you find this car?
Two hours east of Toronto
Ok, correct me if I am wrong [and I know y'all will] I didn't think the Mustang was available in a fastback version 'till like 1966.
Early models (which people consider 64 1/2s, only came in coupe and convertibles) however after those few month the fastback model came into play (still in the 65 year though).
I knew I could count on you Ford Guys to enlighten me...being a lifelong Mopar guy..but I have to admit, for many years I have drooled over the '70 Boss 429 Mustang, and the '70 Boss 302 Mustang. Ford hit a grand slam with those two I have to admit...@@Theoldcarchannel.
Hey man, can you put the video ‘part number’ at the front of the title. UA-cam cuts it off at the end making it difficult to view them in the correct order.
I'm probably going to make a play list of all the videos. But thank you for the headup/info. Much appreciated
classicmustangs429 no worries, yeah these things can be hard to figure out. I have this problem only when using my phone to see your videos. Really enjoying this restoration btw! I wish the car was drivable so you could give us an ‘improvement update’ after each step of the restoration.
This car needs to be painted traffic cone Orange!!!!
So are you basically fully restoring the car? I know your not painting it but that’s all I know.
Hi guy you have done great job..where is 9th part.
Thank you, and working on it lol👨💻
@@Theoldcarchannel. l really enjoy your work thanks alot.
From Kuwait.
@@musaddiqshah698 no problem, I appreciate you taking your time to watch my videos!
Hey ,I thought I saw you installed a brake ,and clutch assembly pedal set....I still see the auto trans oil pan under there while you're fabbing up the new exhaust wtf??????????
Just keep watching the episodes😉 lol... it gets interesting
Oooooooooooooooooookay ,sure will ........! ! I've owned 6 Mustangs in my life . My first one was a brand new 69 Mach 1 with a 390 ,4 speed manual .Next was an 88 Fox body red GT 5.0 % speed man. Next was a 98 GT conv. with an auto trans.next was a 2002 GT 5 speed man. next was a 2006 GT with a 5 speed man,and last was a 2013 GT with a Getrag 6 speed man. I really loved that one .Now I own 2018 Dodge Challenger rt with a Hemi V8 with a Tremec T- 6060 6 speed manual trans I really like this car. Destroyer grey with 20 inch gloss black wheels. I'll be 70 years old on March 11th All cars were bought new .I always wanted to build a street rod But never got the chance. Too many women ,and too many parties. Too many divorces, and too many hours on my job .I was a millwright .Travelled all over the country working with, and installing industrial machinery .Was hardly ever home . I Enjoy your videos .
Should have lowered the UCA, Shelby/Arning drop.
Didn't have time, I'll do it in the future. Very easy now with the coil over rather than the factory spring and shock style suspension.
I thought you put a new engine in it, so how would that make it a first start in 44 years?
these shocks look like they were made in a shed
So you put stiffer springs and dampers on the front and removed the suspension tower reinforcement boxes??
Suspension tower reinforcement boxes?
Random question: is there any room to center the rear end? My ‘66 is about a half inch out on the passenger side and I’d like to move the axle over 1/4”’or so, but don’t know if there is a way to do it given how the springs rest on the perch pins. Wondering if there is any room for nudging it over some.
why don't you clean it up and paint it before installing new parts?
This is all being done on an extremely short time frame. He's just doing enough to get it on the road.
@@Jonessodas2010 exactly!
Larry Eisenbach, the car is going to be driven. This is not a restoration project in the sense of "making it pretty" it's going to be enjoyed every chance I get! Anyone can have a painted car if they flexed their wallet... but then it's just another painted 65 fastback. Right now, this car get 10x the attention of a painted car
What kind of welder are you using on that exhaust pipe ? I need to get one of those.
Why not all new exhaust pipe under the car in rvs? Sound better 😜
Hi when are we getting further episodes?? I can only find upto part 8, don't leave me hanging😶😶
I'm Sorry, part 9 is in editing phase! Even time I plan on working on it, something pops up and pulls me away from finishing it. It's almost done, so hopefully I find some time this week to finish it and get it posted for my UA-cam family
you keep forgetting VGG lol
This was before I knew Derek, I met him on the power tour that year
Why aren’t the remaining parts sanded or sprayed to get rid of the rust?
Cause I didn't have time. Keep watching and you'll realize how tight the deadline became
What is the purpose of that piece that connected your two shock towers? Does it affect handling like the new sway bar did?
It's called an Export Brace. Helps stiffen the cars structure (ties the top of the shock towers to the fire wall). The cars came with a 2 piece lighter sheetmetal version (not as strong and not as thick as the export brace I installed)
How much for it? This is my dream car😍😍
Sorry but shes not forsale
No gloves while tigging…...HMMMM.
Lol was waiting for this comment! I know I know...
When did the new brakes go on?
Last episode
@@Theoldcarchannel. Just asking as starts with the drums when wheels off then next thing one sees the disks on. Was it hard to do the change over, did you need to replace all lines or just the flexible ones etc? :)
@@Theoldcarchannel. also when did you start it? Can't find that episode and the title states it's the start.
@@tonyblackie3277 Yeah the previous video "part 7 LEED Brakes" is where I did the install. I was installing the parts at the same time so when making the videos theres parts here and there where you may see some old and some new. As for the install all went well! Check out the video to see for yourself. If you own a 4 WHEEL drum car, I highly recommend installing their front disc brake kit! That alone will hugely improve your braking capabilities! As for the lines, yes I replaced the lines (hard and flex)... did I need to replace the hard lines? Not necessarily as they were still decent condition (if the lines are rusty then absolutely). As for the flex lines I always recommend changing them as they go bad with time. I believe the car fired up in episode 3, and we got it moving in episode 4.
