Your Video is helping me make a decision on a new mic purchase. I am looking at getting the Slate VMC or keeping things old school with Warm’s WA87 & WA84. Still going back & forth but, hearing your upload helped in the WA win column.
Your video helped sway me towards the Warm Audio WA-87 for my upgrading from my Electro-Voice RE 27, as I don't feel as though the RE works well with my voice. Thanks for your video!
So glad u r recommending this incredible mic. I've been at least 5 weeks or more listening to mic reviews n comparisons. On their website they have sample recordings of Male vocal with only acoustic guitar n they have few other vocal demonstrations on UA-cam n the wa87 is hands down the best. Incredible. Wat I noticed is the presence or sheer volume difference. Its seems louder. Puts the vocal way up front. It's rich smooth n mellow but has a crisp bite to it at the same time. Other mics with cheaper price n similar graph r the stellar x2 vintage with self noise of 10db n the mxl v67g. Wa87 is the beast. Its the vocal mic for male singers without a doubt. I have 60 original songs I want to record n I'll do it all with one mic. Wa87. Very good recommendation.
Great vid! I just got 2 Black WA87’s and I’m using them as Stereo Room drum mics. I have them going through my Apollo x8p Neve 1073 Unison Preamps and they sound absolutely amazing!!!!
Chris thanks for watching! I'm sure you'll get a lot of mileage out of your setup. I've used 87's as room mics before and that's where they shine. Enjoy and thanks again✌
Warren Henry That’s awesome! Ya I kind of took a chance on them for room mics b/c there wasn’t really anyone using them for that but so glad it paid off and you’re so right I’ll get many years out of these bad boys and my return will be much faster as you’ve said. 👍🏽
I have the wa-87 (black version limited) man I got lucky grabbing this for 400 coming with a scarlett 2i2 studio monitors mic stand and headphones...best purchased ever ...very good on rap vocals
Ha, I just got a pair of TF CU-29's and an Avantone CV-12. I'm very happy with these valve condensers but would definitely have considered the WA-87 and might get one in the future for that classic sound
Mine just came in yesterday. Total impulse buy, and thought I would regret it. I tested it in a totally untreated space and was blown away with the sound. It is absolutely incredible. But then again, I am a newbie to the hobby.
Finally I received my WA87 yesterday and I have to tell you after doing doing a voice test it’s the best money spent on a condenser microphone-I never heard of a microphone that is dead quite and when you start speaking the WA 87 comes alive with a nice base with perfect pitch...I love it and would never give it up-it’s my to go microphone for radio broadcast and voiceover. Also try the TZ Audio Stellar X2 mic that condenser microphone is very good good microphone and it sounds almost like the WA87 but for half the price...
Guys, I finally got this mic - the R2 version. This is an end game microphone! It’s really all you need in life and definitely on the same caliber as the other mics used by A list singers. We now live in a time where manufacturing capabilities have advanced to make these microphones top quality, relatively affordable and easy to attain for the general public.
I just upgraded to an at4050 from a rode nt1a. Was looking at the warm mics but ehh. I have clone compressors but something about clone mics doesnt do it for me. Maybe ill purchase it in the future tho.
Thanks for your comment. I really like that 4050. That’s a great upgrade. The WA87 stands up well to an actual Neumann. Now, If you ever get a chance to sample Warm’s WA47... Fasten your seatbelt you're in for a ride. 😳😀thanks for watching ✌🏽
Just bought one last night and it’s a clear quality sound. My only thing is that I have no preamp and running this mic into my focusrite 2i2, I have to have my interface preamp turned all the way up just to hear any audio. What would you recommend as far as preamps for this mic? I am considering the Warm Audio WA-73EQ
Thanks for your question. I would suggest The Focusrite ISA One which is a great preamp if you are on a budget. If you have a 500 series chassis another steal is the Focusrite Red 1 and without a doubt the Warm Audio WA-73. Thanks for watching
You could route a aux channel back into your input and track through the 1073 pre from waves or even a La2a compressor. That should give you some more volume and punch
Hey Warren how are you liking the wa87 1 year later? Outside of vocals what do you think it excels at ? And also what do you think it’s doesn’t excel with ? I don’t really record vocals but I tried for overheads and didn’t really like it. To me it had kind of a distant crappy sound. And just for fun I miced a ampeg svt3 amp into a ampeg cab and I didn’t really like that either. I can say that I put it in omni mode and put it over the kick drum pedal in the center of the kit and that was actually pretty cool. I would use that again. Just curious to hear your opinions on this. Take care ✌️
You know as with many times I have used an 87 the takeaway is always love hate😃 In use, I really like how it captures the neck of upright bass as well as using it aimed at the keyholes on Sax. It’s not my favorite mic for vocals or drums and have used it in that way on both with mixed results. I have to say if you’ve found that the Omni pattern works best for you then keep at it. Warm has faithfully replicated some timeless classics for a song, no pun intended. Thanks for watching ✌🏾
There both great mics. If you can, buy both. If you can’t and you’re doing primarily vocal music then the Lewitt. For all of the reasons stated in the Lewitt videos I’ve done.
Didn’t want to “reinvent the wheel” there plenty of videos on UA-cam with sound samples. Showed it in action on a recent video. It’s a great mic. Thanks for watching ✌🏽

Alex, you can’t go wrong with Warm😃thanks for watching✌🏾
THANK YOU. I too have been doing some comparisons online for over 3 weeks now. This really helps.
Thanks for watching. Glad it helped.✌
Bought the Warm WA67 sounds awesome . Tomorrow my Warm WA251 comes in
Thanks for watching. Both are excellent choices!
Absolute great presentation👍🏾 I purchased both the WA-87 R2 and the WA-87 as a back up to it. I’m going to enjoy making music with them.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏽✌🏽

Hi and thanks for watching. You can expect a significant change when going from a a dynamic mic to a condenser. You certainly won't be disappointed.✌🏾

The WA-87 won't disappoint. I'm also loving the CU-29. The self noise spec is incredible. Thanks for watching.
Nice video Sir. You have the charm. Greetings!

Warren Henry yes sir. Thank you!
I got the wa73.. def get the eq version. Wish I did. It brings out so much bottom end and I have an outboard eq but wish I had it on the amp.

can i use WA87 mic instead of Sennheiser 835S for my PA speaker KUSTOM PA50 ( it includes Mixer inside the speaker ) ? Will WA87 make any big change ?
Thanks for your question. You can use any mic as long as it fits the job at hand. Thanks for watching
The incredibles is a pretty cool movie
anyone have perfeclty straight wa87 ? i am seeing alot that the headbasket leans one side
What pre do you think will bring it out best. The Tone beast or the 73 by Warm Audio?
Curtis Igunbor I personally like the 73 / 87 combo. Although you can’t go wrong with either.
The specs are one thing... the most important reason should be the sound. You haven’t talked about the sound at all ...
Didn’t want to “reinvent the wheel” there plenty of videos on UA-cam with sound samples. Showed it in action on a recent video. It’s a great mic. Thanks for watching ✌🏽
Its nice, as long as you're not hoping for a Neumann U87 quality or sound.
